Chapter 1067: Xiantaicun

No one could have guessed that this would be the answer.

You just said you'd work as a guard, and they believed you, but you say you're farming?

The man reminded him.

"Big brother, are you going back to contract land and run a farm?"

"I advise you not to even think about it; now everywhere across the country is learning from Qiongzhou how to run collective farms, although they also support individual operation, but the profit margin is very low, and profit distribution is also strictly limited."

"Without official endorsement, if you mishandle it, you could very well lose your entire investment."

"Moreover, stealing the property of the manager's farm is a serious crime; not only could you be deprived of your land income rights, but you could also lose the right to work on the farm."

"Private farms are different; theft and robbery are bound to happen."

"Because many people are involved, the authorities cannot impose heavy punishments."

"During this period, many people have gone bankrupt because of this."

Yan Furong laughed.

"My hometown is in the mountains; now there are hardly any households left in the village."

"The authorities want to build it there following the model of Qiongzhou's Freedom Village."

"Because I've served in the military and can keep things under control, they recommended me to become village head."

"It just so happens that I retired due to disability, and I also wanted to find a place to live, so I took this job."

"The advantage of Freedom Village is that everyone participates voluntarily in construction, so costs are low."

"I never thought of getting rich from this; just having enough food and clothing is fine."

The two people looked at Yan Furong's leg, then at his face.

They had always thought this person was in Versailles.

"Such a prosthetic limb is expensive, and you can even get it ahead of time—you say you're an ordinary person?"

Retired?

He must have taken part in dangerous missions and earned a first-class merit as a special forces soldier, right?

Otherwise, the benefits wouldn't be this good.

After retirement, they directly arranged a village head position for him, clink-clink.

Guaranteed harvest regardless of drought or flood.

Moreover, controlling the village's lifeline, if it develops well, you can really make money.

Freedom Village? Some also call it Dream Village, Hermit Village, Great Unity Village……

That place is full of fantasy.

Some have even turned Freedom Village into Dinosaur Village, Ocean Village, Cloud Village, Tomb-raiding Village……

Especially after Qiongzhou's long-vacation system became popular and achieved good results, the whole of Daxia is also promoting this long-vacation system.

This makes Freedom Village increasingly popular.

Now the Daxia people have plenty of time for travel.

Especially after the new business model and CP-app appeared, freelancers have greatly increased, and the number of people seeking leisure keeps growing.

Tourism has already become an important pillar industry of Hangzhou.

Even the Yang Family's Desert Farm has become a very popular tourist attraction.

I heard that because too many tourists go there, the resulting feces have greatly sped up the soil improvement of the Desert Farm.

Of course, there are also some bad ones, like someone developing No-Cover Village, Freedom Something Village, Queen Village……

Too much freedom naturally breeds some dark things.

Especially in remote areas, this sort of thing is increasing and becoming harder to eradicate.

This might be the reason they let a special forces soldier go into the mountains to become village head.

Freedom also needs a limit, doesn't it?

The woman instantly thought of all this in her heart.

She is also very interested in Freedom Village, because there are too many fun things, and many people have made money by creating fun villages.

This has always been a topic people enjoy talking about.

"Big brother, what kind of village do you want to create?"

"I have some ideas—should I recruit villagers when the time comes, or let it develop freely, and then slowly look for my own advantages?"

Yan Furong, upon hearing her question, immediately exclaimed excitedly.

"Actually, our hometown is still quite beautiful, with mountains, water, and waterfalls."

"It's just too deep into the great mountains."

"Our village is called Xiantaicun, because our village sits on a plateau surrounded by five mountain peaks on all sides of a large mountain—one peak to the west, two each to the north and south, and on the east a sheer cliff ten thousand feet high. When there is plenty of moisture at night, the vapor condenses into fog, gathering on the platform; in the morning, as the sun rises, the mist flows like water quickly toward the cliff."

"When there is ample moisture, the cliff edge condenses into layers of clouds; mist and clouds swirl, a sight too beautiful to take in."

"That's why our village is also called Cloud Mist Village."

"On the west side of the plateau, there are several springs with abundant flow that gather into a depression, forming a lake we call Cloud Dream Marsh, which is our main water source."

"Those springs include hot, ice-cold, and ordinary ones."

"The hot ones we call Medicinal Spring; they used to be our main means of treating illness."

"The icy ones we call Cold Pool; they are our primary summer cooling spot."

"Because the soil and stones on the plateau are precious and scarce, we mainly build wooden houses there."

"Because timber is extremely important, we have always been maintaining the scale of the forest."

"Among them, there are also some precious timbers."

"I've heard they were planted by our ancestors."

That platform, added together, amounts to about twenty mu of land.

However, as more and more people left, most of it became deserted.

The few households that remained did so only because they truly could not leave and had no choice but to stay.

In our place, there is no electricity, no internet, and not even a road.

The only way to our village is a mountain trail that runs along the cliff.

Before, it took us about ten days to walk to the nearest town.

Originally such a remote place had little value, but now with the Sky Net, the government is preparing to support us with some solar power, which can be transported by helicopter.

The Yang Family will also support me with two large drones.

So, I came up with the idea of returning home.

It is truly beautiful there, ideal for cultivating body and mind.

There are twenty mu of land there, enough for us to be self-sufficient.

Most importantly, it is beautiful there, and with the Sky Net we can also livestream for Earning Money.

For those weary of city life, modern life, who wish to return to a farming-and-studying lifestyle, this is an excellent destination.

The woman showed great interest when he spoke of the scenery, but upon hearing about its remoteness and primitiveness, she again showed a look of disappointment.

That place is not suitable for me.

Such a place is suitable for those who love hiking and exploration.

It is also suitable for those who truly wish to live in seclusion.

The man was somewhat interested, but not really.

The little girl, however, looked at Yan Furong with great enthusiasm.

She had taken off her glasses.

Wow, Uncle's home is so beautiful; can I go play there?

Yan Furong laughed and said.

Of course, but we have to wait until you grow up.

Because only adults can get there where we live.

The little girl was dissatisfied.

Uncle does not welcome me.

The woman did not want Yan Furong to misunderstand, so she quickly explained to her daughter.

Youyou, Uncle's home is on the mountain; you have to walk a long mountain trail, and only when you grow up will you have the strength to get there.

Just like when you last went to your grandmother's house, you couldn't even move after reaching the mountain's base; Uncle's place has dozens of such mountain trails, that far away.

Only when you can climb over the mountain near your grandmother's house will you be able to go to Uncle's home.
