Chapter 522: Investing in Lucas (Character) (Character) Film

40%, Lucas (Character) (Character), I'll give you face, but you can't push your luck.

Chen Ziqiang stepped back.

Lucas (Character) (Character) was quite satisfied with this result, but it wasn't enough for him.

"President Chen, I think I shouldn't be so cheap."

"I've always believed that people are more important than the company."

"35%, I can become Lucas (Character) (Character)'s lifelong director and lifelong editor."

"Unconditionally cooperate with all of the company's work."

"38%, this is Azure Rainbow Media's price."

"Moreover, we need to add one condition: Azure Rainbow Media gets priority to cooperate with you."

"You cannot make excuses for any reason."

Lucas (Character) (Character) shook his head violently.

"Impossible, I can agree to cooperate with Azure Rainbow Media once every two years, but the script must meet my demands, and I must have control over the production."

Chen Ziqiang gave an OK sign.

"Deal."

The investment was soon completed.

Azure Rainbow Media became a major shareholder of Lucas (Character) (Character) Film.

Lucas (Character) (Character) didn't yet know how powerful his Star Wars would be, otherwise he wouldn't have fallen for this.

Indeed, the production cost of Star Wars was too high, nearly twenty million.

Plus promotion and such, it came to nearly thirty million US dollars.

Box office needs to reach at least a hundred million to recoup the cost.

Only then is there profit to be made.

Based on 150 million box office, 100 million is cost, 40% of 50 million is 20 million US dollars, split half with New World leaves 10 million, after taxes it's just a few million.

This is still the best outcome; if expectations aren't met, losing money is certain.

And nowadays, a film grossing a hundred million is rare to encounter.

Lucas (Character) (Character) also had no confidence. Meanwhile, Industrial Light & Magic desperately needed funds for development.

What do you suggest we do?

When the big patron suddenly offered to lend a hand again, how could he not grab it?

Soon Lucas (Character) (Character) entered work mode, began to re-outline the script.

He revised some settings and plot points according to his own ideas.

After the script was mailed back, the editor at Eternal Splendor, seeing no conflict with the whole story, agreed to his revisions.

All that remained was storyboard drawing; at this time Star Wars was about to be released.

Lucas (Character) (Character) really couldn't spare the time, so he called his old friend Spielberg and a few others over to continue refining the shots.

May 1977.

Star Wars premiered, Chen Ziqiang was also present.

Lucas (Character) (Character) was very nervous, Chen Ziqiang was also very nervous.

With such a big production, whoever films it gets nervous.

Lucas (Character) (Character) trembled all over from nervousness.

His wife and Chen Ziqiang comforted him on either side.

"Don't be afraid; even if you fail, Azure Rainbow Media's support for you won't change in the slightest."

"You are talent; we support talent."

"Especially since you have boundless imagination."

"This is what we at Azure Rainbow Media value most."

"If we fail this time, we'll keep going; practice makes perfect, we'll surely succeed."

Chen Ziqiang spoke very magnanimously.

His confidence came from the fact that this was a project President Yang cared about; even if it turned out poorly, it wouldn't be that bad.

Lucas (Character) (Character) was deeply moved; such a considerate boss, whoever meets him is happy.

Lucas (Character) (Character) instantly stopped being nervous.

Good, good, as long as it doesn't delay my upcoming filming.

Lucas (Character) (Character)'s wife greatly admired the demeanor of Azure Rainbow Media company.

At Hailaowu, if you can make money, you'll receive all kinds of flattery; but once you fail, you become a rat everyone despises.

Your situation will become difficult from now on.

Look at Azure Rainbow Media; money seems not to be money to them.

Just casually built, such a man truly has charm.

After the movie started, various exclamations began one after another.

Chen Ziqiang patted Lucas (Character) (Character) on the thigh.

"Done."

Lucas (Character) (Character) was also excited; according to feedback, at least his movie won't flop.

Chen Ziqiang then rose and walked backward.

Soon the people from Azure Rainbow Media prepared various food for all the reporters and critics.

Of course, travel expenses were also indispensable.

However, the boss did it very covertly; ordinary people couldn't notice.

The cinema was dark and rumbling; nobody could see.

After Chen Ziqiang returned, Lucas (Character) (Character) couldn't help but ask.

What did you go do?

Chen Ziqiang said, biting his ear.

I went to check on all the reporters and critics.

Even good wine fears a deep alley.

We need to guard against other companies playing dirty tricks on us.

Lucas (Character) (Character) had never thought about this problem; he looked at Chen Ziqiang gratefully.

Having such a partner is simply great,

The next day.

The premiere box office came out: 1.6 million US dollars.

It blew up, it was a big blow-up.

After obtaining this data, all media outlets began to promote Star Wars everywhere.

Although Star Wars was good, this kind of heat made Lucas (Character) (Character) feel strange.

Boss Chen, what's going on? Why is everyone praising us, and all big and small newspapers and TV stations are giving us positive coverage.

Chen Ziqiang gave a hehe laugh.

As long as you're willing to spend money, it's fine.

Your film is so excellent; it must be seen by more people.

Lucas (Character) (Character) felt it was a hollow victory.

Boss Chen, are we going too far with this?

Too far?

Chen Ziqiang pulled him and walked out onto the street.

Listen, is this going too far?

Lucas (Character) (Character) walked a stretch; everywhere were crowds discussing Star Wars.

Praises overflowed.

Lucas (Character) (Character) never imagined his own film could actually produce such a result.

Chen Ziqiang asked again.

Do you still feel it's too much now?

Lucas (Character) (Character) understood Chen Ziqiang's meaning.

Thank you, Boss Chen, I understand.

Star Wars was even more intense than they expected.

It slowly began to become a trend.

The box office grew higher each day, soon exceeding one hundred million.

At this point, Lucas (Character) (Character) began to feel heartbroken.

As long as he's not stupid, he realizes he lost big this time.

Azure Rainbow Media took ten million, taking away roughly thirty percent of his profits.

(There is also a part that belongs to Lucas (Character) (Character)'s screenplay royalty share.)

Whoever it was would feel heartbroken.

Lucas (Character) (Character) felt heartbroken; he didn't even want to work on the Immortal Gods Code anymore.

Chen Ziqiang also understood his feelings.

Alright, it's just a misjudgment, right?

Who can always be right?

That way, if you're willing to give up your dividends, our Azure Rainbow Media can take half from the dividends to set up a film investment fund, dedicated to discovering young talent.

This fund will be jointly managed by Azure Rainbow Media and Lucas (Character) (Character); that should work, right?

Returning the money to him is absolutely out of the question, but with a little flexibility, it can be done.

Coincidentally, the film investment fund is an idea Azure Rainbow Media has had for a while.

In Azure Rainbow Media's view, talent is more important than anything, and Eternal Splendor also needs to enrich its various film series.

Eternal Splendor's limitations are too strong, so he plans to open his mind and absorb nourishment from the whole world.

Yingjiang's major film companies are simply too strong.

Azure Rainbow Media needs to learn from Zou Wenhuai, adopting the countryside-surrounding-cities strategy to support various independent producers.

To bleed the major film companies.

Only then can the pressure on Azure Rainbow Media be reduced.

To achieve infiltration of Yingjiang.

To complete Azure Rainbow Media's layout in the entertainment industry.
