Chapter 13

~6 min read 1,159 words

"Li Yong made this—what should we do next?"

At this moment, staff from the Yinfu backend rushed over to ask Li Yong, the overall producer.

This isn’t a minor matter—if Xiao Yi really dies on the show, our company’s reputation will be drowned by public opinion and plummet to ruin.

Although Li Yong was anxious inside, he hadn’t lost his basic reason or composure; he even forced a calm expression as he spoke.

"There are three things we can do now: first, turn the drone’s voice system to maximum volume—we’ll try to wake Xiao Yi up from his sleep."

If Xiao Yi were awake, based on Li Yong’s observations over the past two days, he believed Xiao Yi could at least protect himself against this bear attack.

Even in the worst-case scenario, there shouldn’t be any loss of life—worst it could be is Xiao Yi gets injured and has to withdraw from this wilderness survival challenge.

Upon hearing this, the staff immediately sprang into action, silently marveling: no wonder Li Zong remains calm in a crisis.

"Second, get our perimeter search-and-rescue teams and medical personnel moving toward Xiao Yi’s location via GPS—prepare mentally for possible injuries, and have medics ready to administer immediate first aid."

"And third—and this is the worst-case scenario—if Xiao Yi still doesn’t wake up and the bear attacks, immediately shut down his livestream remotely. No bloody scenes can be broadcast."

As he said this, Li Yong’s voice grew cold and low—it was the worst outcome he could imagine.

Of course, it was also the outcome he most hoped to avoid; no one wanted such an accident.

"Understood, Li Zong. I’ll handle it right away!"

Seeing Li Yong speak this way, they all knew the situation was critical—every department moved with swift urgency.

As for the search team, upon receiving Li Yong’s call, they instinctively muttered, "Again, location six? What an unreliable guy!"

"Xiao Yi, wake up!"

"There’s a bear coming!"

"Bro, this isn’t the time to sleep!"

"So noisy!"

Hearing the continuous voices from the drone, Xiao Yi mumbled sleepily in his dream, then rolled over and went back to sleep.

"Big brother, the bear’s here and you’re still sleeping like this? I’m impressed."

"Sleeping like a dead pig—I never understood that phrase until today."

"Xiao Yi, stop messing around! Let’s get up and deal with the bear!"

"Damn it, has Yinfu still not figured out a response? If he keeps sleeping like this, Xiao Yi’s really going to become the bear’s meal."

"What better option does Yinfu have besides shouting through the drone’s voice system? This is a remote wilderness—the nearest rescue team is still an hour away."

Watching the drone’s volume maxed out yet Xiao Yi merely rolled over and kept sleeping, everyone in the livestream grew anxious.

The situation was spiraling toward the outcome they dreaded most.

Li Yong, the Yinfu supervisor monitoring Xiao Yi’s livestream, felt his heart rise to his throat.

His palms and back were drenched in sweat; even though he was in the relatively cool Arctic Circle, his upper-body clothes were soaked through.

Inside, he screamed: "Wake up! Xiao Yi, don’t you dare let me down now!"

Meanwhile, in the main livestream, Bei Ye and the other two were silent—even Yang Qingning gripped her fists so tightly her dorsal veins bulged.

Even Cai Luo Han, who always disliked Xiao Yi and was usually loud and impulsive, said nothing now.

He truly disliked Xiao Yi, but he knew when to use sarcasm to stir drama without drawing universal hatred—and even attract attention.

In a life-or-death situation like this, if he dared to push any narrative, tomorrow his black fans would multiply tenfold, and his endorsement contracts might get terminated.

Bei Ye, meanwhile, was speechless, even shaking his head unconsciously.

Sleeping this deeply in the wild? Xiao Yi was the only one he’d ever seen. In his view, this behavior was pure suicide.

Now he wondered: what the hell were those wilderness experts hired by Yinfu thinking?

How could they let contestants in a wilderness challenge ignore such basic knowledge?

But no matter how much everyone worried, it couldn’t solve Xiao Yi’s immediate crisis.

What no one anticipated was that the drone’s noise, far from waking Xiao Yi, had immediately drawn the attention of the black bear outside the cave.

The black bear began slowly approaching Xiao Yi’s location.

The Yinfu staff in the control room realized then that the sound might attract the bear’s curiosity.

Li Yong shouted outright: "Turn off the sound! Quick, quick!"

Many staff members turned pale—their intentions were good, but…

If the worst happened—if the sound lured the bear to Xiao Yi and caused his death—then all of them would be accomplices.

But the situation was unfolding step by step toward the worst possible outcome.

The black bear was ultimately drawn to the cave entrance by the drone’s noise.

Through the drone’s spotlight, people finally saw the king of the Arctic wilderness: a massive beast weighing over three hundred jin.

"What a huge black bear!"

"My god, it really is a bear!"

"Damn it, what do we do about Xiao Yi?"

This was unquestionably an adult black bear that would make anyone’s scalp tingle with fear.

The bear now noticed the brightly lit drone overhead and immediately went on guard.

Clearly, this flying, glowing creature it had never seen before unsettled it somewhat.

Seeing the bear and the drone locked in standoff, both Yinfu staff and all livestream viewers quietly exhaled in relief.

They now pinned their hopes on the drone—hoping it would scare off the bear until rescue arrived, or until Xiao Yi woke up.

After about half an hour of stalemate, the bear made a further Shitan , testing whether the light could harm it.

After testing, it realized the bright object caused it no actual harm—and its courage surged.

It even used its paws to prop itself up and chased the drone, which wasn’t flying very high inside the cave.

This made everyone’s hearts tighten again—the drone could no longer hold off the bear.

Even this mischievous bear nearly knocked the drone down several times; the cave ceiling was too low, and the staff watching were drenched in sweat.

This drone was their only link to Xiao Yi’s location and the sole source of information about him—if the bear knocked it down, Xiao Yi was on his own.

They might lose even the ability to distract the bear.

Though the drone had bought the rescue team a precious half-hour, the nearest team still needed at least another half-hour to reach him.

After several failed attempts to catch the flying drone, the bear lost interest and abandoned the toy.

It then noticed Xiao Yi, who was leaning against the wall, fast asleep—and began slowly moving toward him.

"It’s over. Everything’s over now!"

As the bear slowly advanced toward Xiao Yi, everyone’s hearts sank into despair.
