Chapter 106: 105. An Old Acquaintance Again (Please bookmark, please vote!)

After Ning Qing and the others left the dormitory building, Ning Qing received a phone call.

"Dean, this matter isn't my fault; they were the ones who bullied my younger sister first."

"Alright, alright, alright, I know I was wrong. Isn't it enough that I'm admitting my mistake to you?"

"Don't worry, this matter absolutely won't be blown out of proportion."

"Mm, okay, thank you, Dean."

"Sister Qing, I've caused you trouble," He Qing said, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Ning Qing smiled and said, "It's nothing. Besides, this is a matter Uncle Zhang entrusted to me, so I must handle it beautifully."

"Let's go. We'll head over first and see what Uncle Zhang has to say."

"Sister Qing, why don't we just let this matter go?" He Qing said.

When she heard the name her roommate mentioned, she wasn't actually surprised at all, but she also understood that this person was not like her roommate—not someone easy to deal with.

Moreover, she had already troubled Ning Qing so much that she felt embarrassed to cause her any more trouble.

Ning Qing smiled and said, "You'll have to ask Uncle Zhang about that."

Very quickly, they arrived back at that secluded spot and saw that Zhang Ran was already chatting with He Yong, with two little ones playing nearby.

"Uncle Zhang, the matter has been handled," Ning Qing said with a smile, then recounted everything about how she had dealt with it.

After listening, Zhang Ran couldn't help but nod. Although this wasn't the most satisfying method, it was the best one.

After all, He Qing still had to attend school here, so it was best not to make too much of a scene.

"I've troubled you this time," Zhang Ran said.

"Uncle Zhang, you are being too polite. By the way, I've already found out about that rich second generation; his name is Yuan Youming. His father is Yuan Debiao, who handles logistics in Guizhou Province, and the company is quite large," Ning Qing said.

When she heard the name Yuan Youming, she recalled his entire background. This was only possible because it was her, Ning Qing; if it had been Ming Xuan, he probably wouldn't have known.

Zhang Ran nodded, thought for a moment, and suddenly said to He Yong beside him, "Does the name Yuan Debiao sound familiar to you?"

He Yong thought for a long while but couldn't think of anything, so he could only shake his head helplessly and say, "I've never heard of him."

Zhang Ran, however, remembered and reminded him, "Do you forget that time in Guizhou Province back in '88? If it weren't for you, I reckon I would have suffered quite a bit."

When it came down to it, Zhang Ran's memory hadn't been eroded by twenty-eight years, so while the events of '88 were thirty years ago for He Yong, they were only two or three years ago for Zhang Ran.

Reminded by Zhang Ran, He Yong also recalled some memories. When Zhang Ran went to Guizhou Province in '88, he had a conflict with a group of people over some matters, and this group was in the logistics business.

One had to know that the logistics industry at that time could truly be described as a mixed bag; it wasn't something just anyone could get involved in. It could be said that almost no one working in this field during that era had clean hands.

People with clean hands couldn't do this work at that time.

Back then, Zhang Ran had slightly underestimated the black-hearted nature of these people, or rather, underestimated their ruthlessness, and he suffered a major loss by being careless.

Fortunately, He Yong and the others were capable, and they managed to escape.

What followed was simple. Zhang Ran was not the type to suffer in silence. By that time, Zhang Ran had already built up significant momentum, so he didn't need any other means; he simply used capital and some connections to clean up this group of people.

"Are you talking about that smiling fat man?" He Yong said, somewhat uncertainly.

At the time, Zhang Ran could be said to have wiped out the entire group of people in the logistics business, yet Zhang Ran didn't want to get involved in these things himself.

Not only could he not earn much money, but he also had to worry about being implicated at any moment; more importantly, it was very likely to make his own background appear unclean.

However, since Zhang Ran didn't speak up at the time, no one dared to encroach upon this group's territory. The forces that were considered behemoths in their eyes had crumbled in an instant; who would dare to move in and grab territory without Zhang Ran's consent?

And when they saw that Zhang Ran didn't seem to have any intention of entering this market, some people came knocking, among them being Yuan Debiao.

At the time, Zhang Ran really didn't want to get involved; Zhang Ran wouldn't do things that were not worth the effort.

So, Zhang Ran immediately indicated that they could do as they pleased, but at the time, Zhang Ran thought highly of Yuan Debiao, that always-smiling fat man, so he mentioned him to He Yong and the others.

Zhang Ran nodded and said, "If there isn't anyone else with the same name, it should be him."

In fact, it could be confirmed now; people with the same name wouldn't overlap so much—both were in logistics, and both were in Guizhou Province.

Immediately, Zhang Ran made a call to Meng He to get Yuan Debiao's mobile number. Even if Meng He didn't have numbers like these, he could find them without much effort.

Under the curious gazes of Ning Qing and the others, Zhang Ran dialed Yuan Debiao's number.

In Guizhou Province, Yuan Debiao was currently furious, though it was because of business matters, and the entire conference room was deathly silent.

Just then, his mobile phone rang. Yuan Debiao was just about to explode when he felt his phone vibrate.

He picked it up and saw it was an unfamiliar number. He originally didn't want to answer, but after thinking about it, someone who could call his mobile directly probably wasn't a telemarketer.

"Who are you looking for?" Yuan Debiao's tone was somewhat unpleasant.

"Heh heh, Boss Yuan has quite a temper. Have you encountered something unpleasant?" A young man's teasing voice came from the other end of the line.

Yuan Debiao felt the voice was very unfamiliar and sounded very young. He was just about to hang up when he heard the other side say, "Boss Yuan is truly forgetful. Can't you recognize the voice of an old acquaintance? I am Zhang Ran."

"Zhang Ran? That... who?" Yuan Debiao thought for a moment. The name didn't seem to be in his first impression. Just as he was about to retort, a figure suddenly popped into his mind, and he felt a jolt go through his entire body.

"Boss Zhang?" Yuan Debiao asked cautiously.

That shouldn't be right. Hadn't this person already disappeared? How could he suddenly appear? And why was he calling him?

As his business gradually grew, Yuan Debiao also began to inquire about Zhang Ran. The more he learned about Zhang Ran, the more he felt admiration and a trace of fear.

However, when he heard that Zhang Ran seemed to have disappeared, he felt both regretful and a sense of relief.

That incident back then had left a deep impression on him.

Even if it were himself today, he wouldn't dare to be certain he could resolve those people so smoothly.

Yet for the Zhang Ran of that time, it seemed to be a very simple matter. If it weren't for the inconvenient communication back then, Zhang Ran probably wouldn't have needed to run first and then retaliate.

Yuan Debiao was very concerned about Zhang Ran's affairs. Even though it was rumored that Zhang Ran had disappeared, he still paid close attention to Zhang Ran's matters, so he had noticed many things.

Many companies, especially some that were behemoths to him, vaguely had Zhang Ran's shadow behind them.
