Chapter 179: 176. The Arrival of Zhang Ran
The more Sun Guilan acted this way, the more uneasy Huo Xin felt in her heart.
"Move aside, I want to see my sister." Huo Xin did not want to waste any more words with Sun Guilan and prepared to force her way in; she would not be at ease without taking a look at Huo Zhiyuan.
Seeing her act like this, Sun Guilan actually did not continue to block her, but instead let her walk inside; of course, Zhang Siyan and the others did not receive this treatment and could only wait outside.
After entering, Huo Xin saw Huo Zhiyuan lying on the bed with a pale complexion, her eyes tightly shut, seemingly having no perception of the outside world at all.
"Sister." Huo Xin hurriedly ran over to hold Huo Zhiyuan's hand, only to find it ice-cold.
"Alright, you've seen her, so hurry back; she doesn't need you to take care of her here," Sun Guilan urged.
Huo Xin ignored Sun Guilan and instead took out her phone, preparing to make a call.
"What are you doing?" Sun Guilan snatched the phone from her and said.
"Transferring hospitals. My sister is in this state, yet you refuse to give her treatment—are you trying to kill her?" Huo Xin rebuked angrily.
"She is already in a hospital, and the doctor said your sister needs quiet rest; this is the best place," Sun Guilan said.
"Give me the phone, or I will call the police," Huo Xin said sternly.
Hearing her mention calling the police, Sun Guilan was a bit panicked at first, but she quickly calmed down and actually returned the phone to Huo Xin.
"Go ahead and call the police; I'd like to see what you're going to do!" Sun Guilan wore an expression of having nothing to fear.
This made Huo Xin hesitate all of a sudden. She knew her mother; if she didn't have some sort of leverage, she wouldn't dare to act so arrogant—yes, arrogant. She wasn't afraid of the police at all, but rather seemed to be looking forward to it.
Huo Xin stood there with her phone, beginning to waver.
"Whether I call the police or not is one thing, but transfer my sister to another hospital immediately!" Huo Xin said after taking a deep breath.
But Sun Guilan was dead set against the transfer, and when it came to the family's opinion, the mother's opinion was clearly more important than the sister's.
"Miss Huo, how is it?" Zhao Jingyu and the others had been waiting anxiously outside; seeing Huo Xin come out, they immediately stepped forward to ask.
Huo Xin did not speak, her expression merely blank and despairing. She didn't know what to do for a moment; before coming, she had sworn firmly in her heart to protect her sister well.
But upon arriving here, she discovered that she seemed unable to do anything; the only thing she could do was call the police.
But would calling the police be useful?
Or rather, would Sun Guilan leave behind any trail?
Furthermore, once the police were involved, Huo Xin was afraid of truly angering Sun Guilan; she understood perfectly well just how heartless this mother of theirs could be toward the two sisters.
"I'm sorry, sister, I'm sorry, I couldn't protect you, I don't know what to do." Huo Xin's tears flowed down uncontrollably. At this moment, she realized that everything she had previously considered to be her own complete independence and strength was fake; she had actually always been living under the protection of her sister's wings.
Her crying immediately made the hearts of Zhao Jingyu and the others turn cold; was there no way even for Huo Xin?
At this moment, a figure suddenly flashed through Zhao Jingyu's mind. Originally, this person had been excluded by her, as he was, after all, an outsider.
But Zhao Jingyu knew at this time that this seemed to be the only choice left.
"Miss Huo, perhaps there is still one person who has a way," Zhao Jingyu suddenly said.
Huo Xin, as if grabbing a life-saving straw, asked urgently: "Who?"
Zhang Siyan and Meng Zixuan also looked at Zhao Jingyu, but Zhao Jingyu was looking at Zhang Siyan.
Zhang Siyan pointed at herself, somewhat at a loss, "Me?"
"It's your father," Zhao Jingyu said.
"My dad?" Zhang Siyan was even more confused.
Zhao Jingyu said: "You just need to tell Mr. Zhang about the situation now; I believe he will understand."
"Mr. Zhang?" Huo Xin murmured, and then she seemed to think of something.
"Is it that person?" Huo Xin looked at Zhao Jingyu with anticipation. She knew her sister had always been infatuated with a man; this man was surnamed Zhang, and he was also the one who had saved her sister from being seen, and even more, the one who had changed the fate of the two sisters.
Zhao Jingyu nodded and said: "It is him."
Zhang Siyan looked at the two of them, not understanding, but neither of them seemed to have any intention of explaining. Even Meng Zixuan on the side revealed a look of sudden realization, while only she, the daughter, seemed to know nothing.
But since things had reached this point, Zhang Siyan could not care about that anymore; she took out her phone and made the call.
"Siyan." Zhang Ran's somewhat weary voice came through the receiver.
Zhang Siyan asked with subconscious concern: "Are you alright?"
Zhang Ran cheered himself up and said: "I'm fine, just a bit tired these past two days. Is there something the matter?"
"Yes, it's like this, President Huo from our company has fallen into a coma." Zhang Siyan briefly recounted the matter.
Immediately, she could feel a suppressed rage from the other side of the phone.
Did her father really know President Huo?
"Wait for me there, I'll be there immediately," Zhang Ran said in a deep voice.
He then hung up the phone.
"My dad said he's coming right away," Zhang Siyan told Huo Xin and the others.
Zhang Ran had already reached the fourth morning at the research institute. After the busyness of the past few days, he had finally straightened things out a bit, and the plans were all arranged; now he just needed to wait.
Originally, Zhang Ran had planned to go home quickly to see the two little ones, but he hadn't expected such a thing to happen to Huo Zhiyuan.
"Uncle Zhang, what's wrong?" Meng Mingxuan asked hurriedly, and Meng He also cast an inquiring look.
"Huo is in a coma!" Zhang Ran said with a frown.
"Hm? Aunt Huo is in a coma? What happened?" Meng Mingxuan asked immediately.
Zhang Ran shook his head and said: "I don't know the situation for now; I'll go take a look first."
"We'll go with you," Meng He said.
Zhang Ran did not stop them and took the two of them to the address Zhang Siyan had sent.
He Yong had been silently following by Zhang Ran's side. He was no stranger to Huo Zhiyuan; back then, it was he and Zhang Ran who had 'bought' Huo Zhiyuan, and in the process of interacting with Huo Zhiyuan afterward, he was the only one besides Zhang Ran who had contact with her.
After arriving at the place, Zhang Ran looked at the people surrounding the entrance and immediately frowned. Even without Zhang Siyan saying those things, he knew the matter would not be that simple.
"Sorry, no entry allowed," the big man guarding the door said, flashing the tattoo on his body as he spoke.
But what he did not see was that his boss, Zhao Hu, had curled himself up in his chair when Zhang Ran and He Yong arrived, as if afraid that Zhang Ran would see him.
