Chapter 33: 33. The Value of the Necklace (Seeking collections, seeking recommendation votes!)

~7 min read 1,304 words

Just as Zhang Ran and the others were discussing the price with the landlord, Wang Jiajia had arrived at the place she had agreed to meet her close friends.

She had gone to the hospital early in the morning to borrow the necklace from Liu Lu, and the moment she laid eyes on it, she couldn't look away.

Only when she saw the necklace in person did she realize that Liu Lu's photography skills were truly poor.

That dazzling, brilliant luster, that exquisite and luxurious craftsmanship, and those symbols containing a unique aesthetic all left her completely captivated.

All the way there, Wang Jiajia protected her bag very carefully; the necklace was inside, and if she lost it, she wouldn't be able to afford the compensation.

When she arrived at the meeting place, some people had already arrived; two of her friends were chatting with a young man who had an artistic air about him.

"Jiajia, you're here! Let me introduce you; this is the photography master I told you about, Fan Kai," Wang Jiajia's friend Zhu Luo introduced.

Fan Kai took the initiative to shake hands, saying, "Hello. Don't listen to Zhu Luo's nonsense; I'm just someone who does photography, not any kind of master."

"Hello, hello, my name is Wang Jiajia."

The two sides got to know each other, and once everyone had arrived, they began preparing to shoot the portraits.

The first stop was to shoot inside the photo studio, and after that, they would go to some scenic locations to take a few more.

Wang Jiajia and the others went to the changing room to change clothes. Once changed, Wang Jiajia carefully took the necklace out of her bag and put it on quite "devoutly."

This was the most beautiful necklace she had ever worn in her life; it had to be done with a sense of ceremony.

At this moment, Wang Jiajia was wearing a snow-white long dress, looking ethereal. Wang Jiajia had very good skin, and her snow-white complexion complemented the long dress perfectly.

And when the necklace was put on, Wang Jiajia looked at herself in the mirror and was stunned for a moment.

Under the illumination of the lights, the necklace shimmered with a brilliant radiance, making her face look much more crystalline; it actually gave off a sense of holiness.

"Jiajia, Jiajia, aren't you done yet?" Just as Wang Jiajia was lost in the moment, her friend's urging voice came from outside.

"Coming!" Wang Jiajia hurriedly responded and then walked out.

When she walked out, all of her friends looked at her, and suddenly, there was silence for a moment.

Wang Jiajia knew what they were looking at, and she couldn't help but feel a bit smug, though she still asked indifferently, "What's wrong with you all?"

"Damn, Wang Jiajia, when did you buy such a beautiful necklace?" Zhu Luo couldn't help but curse.

It was truly because after Wang Jiajia put on this necklace, her entire temperament had been elevated to a new level.

"That's right, Jiajia, you look so beautiful wearing this necklace."

"Jiajia, can you lend it to me to take a photo later?"

The group of women chattered incessantly, their eyes fixed tightly on the necklace, hearts practically popping out of their eyes.

"How could I have the money to buy such an expensive necklace? I borrowed it," Wang Jiajia said truthfully after enjoying the indulgence of being complimented. She wasn't the type of person who was overly vain, and she wouldn't claim it as her own just for the sake of face.

"I figured as much. But Jiajia, how about you lend it to your sister here to take a couple of photos later?" Zhu Luo said, wrapping her arm around Wang Jiajia's shoulder.

"I can, but you all have to be careful. I borrowed this from a friend, and if it gets broken, I can't afford to pay for it." Wang Jiajia didn't know how to refuse, so she could only urge them to be careful.

"Are you all ready yet?" Fan Kai, who had been fiddling with his camera over there, was getting a bit impatient and started urging them.

"Right away, right away."

Afterwards, the group began to take photos one by one. When it was Wang Jiajia's turn, Fan Kai was also stunned for a moment; Wang Jiajia was indeed very beautiful at this moment.

However, most of Fan Kai's attention was on Wang Jiajia's neck. He looked at the necklace and felt a sense of familiarity, as if he had seen it somewhere before.

But he wasn't in a hurry to ask. It wasn't until they finished shooting at the studio and were driving to other locations that Fan Kai asked about it, seemingly casually.

Later, he even took the necklace into his palm to examine it closely. Under careful observation, he seemed to understand why he felt familiar with this necklace.

Zhu Luo really hadn't lied to Wang Jiajia and the others; Fan Kai was indeed a relatively famous photographer, and he had taken photos for quite a few people, especially some wealthy ones.

He had seen many expensive pieces of jewelry, and the one he remembered most deeply was also a necklace. It wasn't this exact model, but it had a certain degree of similarity.

It was the work of a very famous jewelry master in England, and it even had his unique symbol on it.

Fan Kai didn't have much ability to appraise jewelry, but he could feel that this necklace seemed to be an authentic piece.

One had to know that the master had long since passed away, and he had stopped making jewelry twenty-eight years ago.

Now, this master's jewelry had been bid up to astronomical prices. He hadn't expected to run into one here, and looking at Wang Jiajia, she didn't seem like the type who could hang out with people who owned such a necklace.

"Jiajia, your friend must be quite wealthy, lending you such a precious necklace just like that," Fan Kai asked, pretending to be casual.

Wang Jiajia didn't have any ulterior motives and said directly, "Liu Jie's family doesn't have much money; just two days ago, she was worrying about renting a larger house. This necklace was a wedding gift from Liu Jie's father-in-law to Liu Jie and her husband. I had to be thick-skinned to borrow it."

Perhaps because she was surrounded by her close friends, Wang Jiajia didn't hide much, only omitting the fact that Zhang Ran had come off the Goddess of Destiny.

"By the way, Master Fan, how much do you think this necklace is worth?" After Wang Jiajia finished speaking, she couldn't help but be curious.

In fact, after listening to Wang Jiajia's account, Fan Kai's mind began to race. At first, he really didn't have any ideas, but once he knew the situation, his greed instantly flared up.

He rolled his eyes and said, "Just looking at the craftsmanship, this necklace is extremely exquisite, and look at the small diamonds on it. If it's real, it's worth a fortune—somewhere around a million."

"A million? It's that expensive?" Wang Jiajia, Zhu Luo, and the others were all shocked. They were actually just girls from ordinary families. Although this was Shanghai, an international metropolis, a million was still a lot for ordinary people, especially when that million was just for a necklace.

Seeing their reaction, Fan Kai smiled to himself, but he wasn't in a hurry and returned the necklace to Wang Jiajia.

Fan Kai knew that one shouldn't be impatient in anything; if you're impatient, you'll show flaws, and no one is a fool.

Besides, hadn't Wang Jiajia just said that her "Liu Jie" was very short on money? This was an opportunity, but it had to be done slowly.
