Chapter 88: 87. The Numb Zhang Family (Please add to library, please vote!)

~7 min read 1,400 words

Afterwards, Liu Jie saw the bags in Siyan's hands and immediately said in surprise, "Siyan, I'd heard long ago that you and Xiao Qian had made it big, and seeing it now, it's truly the case."

Liu Jie certainly had an eye for things; just by looking at the bags Siyan and the others were carrying, she could estimate the value of the items inside quite accurately.

Then, with a smile on her face, she said fawningly to Siyan, "Come, come, come, take a look at my shop to see if there are any clothes you like, and support your big sister's business."

Siyan found it hard to refuse, so she could only go into the shop and take a look around.

"Big sister, you haven't forgotten me, have you?" Meng Mingxuan said, leaning in with a grin.

Liu Jie was stunned for a moment, then remembered, and quickly said, "How could I? Such a handsome young man, how could I forget? By the way, come and pick out some clothes, Liu Jie will give you a discount."

"I don't need any. Today is about buying clothes for Sister Siyan and my sister-in-law. Liu Jie, please give us some good recommendations; as long as they're suitable, price is no object," Meng Mingxuan said.

He was also feeling a bit tired from following along, but since Zhang Ran was nearby, he couldn't just run off halfway, so he hoped Siyan and the others would finish shopping soon.

Upon hearing this, Liu Jie's eyes lit up, "This handsome young man is truly generous. If I were ten years younger, I'd definitely chase after you."

Meng Mingxuan looked at Liu Jie's appearance, gave a dry cough, and said, "Well, it's not my money; it's Sister Siyan's father buying things for his daughter—her own father."

In the end, Meng Mingxuan couldn't help but add that line; he was afraid Liu Jie might misunderstand something. If there really were a misunderstanding, given Liu Jie's big mouth, Siyan's reputation in the vicinity of this shop would likely be ruined.

Liu Jie looked in the direction Meng Mingxuan was pointing and saw Zhang Ran and Sicheng. She was stunned; she really couldn't tell who was Siyan's father.

Meng Mingxuan said, "See that? The one holding the two children is Sister Siyan's father, and the one holding the bags is Sister Siyan's twin brother. Liu Jie, don't blame me for not looking out for your business—Uncle Zhang is not short on cash. How much you earn today depends on your own skills."

Then, seeing Liu Jie wanting to walk over to Zhang Ran, Meng Mingxuan quickly pulled her back and said, "Hey, hey, hey, big sister, what are you doing?"

"I'm going to go say hello to that boss. Your Uncle Zhang looks so young. By the way, why don't I see Siyan's mother?" Liu Jie said.

Seeing the way Liu Jie's eyes were shining, Meng Mingxuan shuddered and quickly said, "Liu Jie, no need. Just take good care of Sister Siyan and the others."

Liu Jie felt a bit regretful, but soon went to attend to Siyan and the others.

"Siyan, so you're a second-generation rich kid. Does that mean the shop you and Xiao Qian opened is just to experience life? We really don't understand you rich kids; we're very envious," Liu Jie said while introducing the clothes.

Siyan wanted to explain, but found she couldn't, because although she didn't have many clothes or bags in her hands right now, the items inside these bags alone added up to over three hundred thousand.

By the time they left Liu Jie's shop, Siyan and Liu Lu had several more bags in their hands.

At two o'clock, the bags in Siyan and Liu Lu's hands added up to nearly twenty.

At three o'clock, neither of them could carry any more bags, and at the same time, their feelings had become somewhat numb.

From the initial hesitation, to the later reluctance, then to the excitement, and now, it was just numbness.

They felt as if they weren't buying the clothes they had once dreamed of, but were buying Chinese cabbage.

Especially Liu Lu; she had never experienced anything like this, and now she felt a bit dazed.

They had each bought nearly ten pairs of shoes, including high heels, flats, boots, and so on.

They also had about ten bags each, in all sorts of styles.

Perfume, lipstick...

At four o'clock in the afternoon, when they walked out of the mall, everyone was carrying a large bag of items, even Zhang Xiaotao and Susu were no exception.

Now, Liu Lu didn't even dare to calculate how much all these things were worth. At first, she had been silently calculating, but as they got more and more, she gave up.

Liu Lu had originally thought today should end here and they could go home, but she didn't expect Zhang Ran to bring them to a 4S dealership.

"Uncle Zhang, please this way." Pang Bo, the little chubby guy, had received the call from Meng Mingxuan and was already waiting at the entrance to welcome them.

Sicheng and the others had also guessed by now what Zhang Ran was doing. Their previous experiences told them that Zhang Ran was definitely not just here to look.

However, perhaps due to the previous shock, none of them spoke; they just silently followed Zhang Ran into the 4S dealership.

But the very first sentence Zhang Ran said made them react once again.

"Sicheng, go with Ming Xuan and pick out a car worth around a million. Siyan, Xiao Lu, you go pick out a car too. As long as you like it, that's all that matters," Zhang Ran said.

"This... I don't need one, I don't know how to drive," Liu Lu said hurriedly. She hadn't expected Zhang Ran to buy her a car too.

She had originally thought Zhang Ran only came to buy a car for Sicheng, or perhaps for Siyan as well, for the siblings.

But she hadn't expected Zhang Ran to buy one for her too; Liu Lu was once again at a loss.

She was a woman with relatively traditional values. Perhaps when she was in school, she had thought about having a car, but after being married for so long, she had long since discarded that idea.

In the past, when she and Sicheng fantasized about the future, they only dared to imagine Sicheng buying a car worth a hundred thousand or so, and then picking her up and dropping her off at work every day.

In Liu Lu's heart, that was already the happiest thing.

But happiness had come so suddenly; now, Zhang Ran, this father-in-law, was not only buying a car for Sicheng but also one for her.

Zhang Ran said, "Don't you have a driver's license? If you haven't driven, just practice for a couple of days and you'll be fine. Driving isn't a difficult thing."

Only then did Liu Lu understand why Zhang Ran had asked her if she had a driver's license during dinner last night.

"But..." Liu Lu wanted to say a few more words, but was quickly interrupted by Zhang Ran, "If you don't have one you like, then I'll have Ning Qing help you pick one out."

As soon as these words were spoken, Liu Lu hurriedly said, "I'll pick it out myself."

She didn't dare let Ning Qing help her choose; according to Ning Qing's taste, she probably wouldn't even look at anything that didn't cost several hundred thousand.

If she picked one worth a million, Zhang Ran would probably buy it for her, but she wouldn't dare to get in it.

After waiting for them to finish speaking, Siyan didn't say anything either; she just silently followed along to pick out a car.

As for Sicheng, he felt a bit strange. Unlike Liu Lu and Siyan, his clothes and car seemed to be planned out by Zhang Ran, leaving him with little room for his own choices.

But Sicheng didn't resent this at all; on the contrary, he enjoyed it somewhat.

He had lacked fatherly love since he was a child, and he had never been disciplined or had his future planned by a father, but now he was experiencing it.

Although Sicheng still didn't quite understand, he could sense something—Zhang Ran was planning things out for him.
