Chapter 221: Alchemy

After all, a bow with a draw weight of 200 jin has a maximum range of five to six hundred meters, while a bow with a draw weight of 10,000 jin only has a maximum range of 1,500 meters.

Estimating range purely by draw weight is not accurate, but the estimation of power is quite close.

"Next, let's look at this."

As Lu Yu said this, he carefully rearranged the bow and arrows he had just shown, then reached out to open another package.

Inside the package, various medicinal herbs were neatly sorted and categorized, with each portion clearly labeled by weight; there were exactly 125 portions, no more, no less.

Lu Yu took these herbs to the Alchemy Room. The Alchemy Room was very spacious, with laboratory benches placed all around, covered with various types of equipment.

In the middle of the room was an alchemy furnace over a meter tall, where temperature and time could be conveniently controlled via electronic buttons.

With this machine's assistance, the alchemy process could naturally save a lot of trouble, but this did not mean that having a machine meant everything was smooth sailing.

The preliminary preparation work had to be completed by the Alchemist personally, and if any unexpected situation occurred during the alchemy process, the Alchemist had to resolve it in time.

Lu Yu carefully separated the thirteen types of medicinal herbs to be used, then used a balance scale to carefully measure the weight of each portion.

To refine Top-grade Blood Qi Pills, although the medicinal herbs used are the same as those for refining Superior Blood Qi Pills, there are extremely subtle differences in the proportions.

Not only that, but the subsequent refining steps and the control of the heat also have subtle differences.

As the saying goes, "A miss is as good as a mile," not to mention the many subtle differences involved here.

After separating all 125 portions of herbs, Lu Yu began to process the herbs.

This process was both boring and long, taking a full three hours before he finally completed all the preparation work and officially began alchemy.

Refining one furnace of pills takes nearly a quarter of an hour, during which one must pay constant attention and continuously adjust the heat.

When a crisp sound came from the alchemy furnace, Lu Yu knew the pills were refined.

He first turned off the instrument, then reached out to open the furnace lid.

The moment the lid opened, a rich, almost tangible aroma of pills rushed to his nose, quickly permeating the entire alchemy room.

Just by smelling it, one could feel the blood Qi in their body begin to boil uncontrollably.

Lu Yu took this furnace of pills out of the alchemy furnace and counted them carefully.

A total of six Superior Blood Qi Pills and four Top-grade Blood Qi Pills.

According to normal probability, at most three Top-grade Blood Qi Pills could be refined; he hadn't expected there to be one extra this time.

"Looks like my luck is good today, I've hit a streak," Lu Yu said to himself with a smile, then reached out, picked up a Top-grade pill, and threw it directly into his mouth.

Immediately after came the second, the third... He was like a hungry child, impatiently enjoying this surprise.

In less than half a minute, he had finished eating all ten Blood Qi Pills.

Instantly, his Potential Points rose to nearly 400,000.

"Good enough, enough for one Meridian Opening."

Lu Yu took a look; although he felt the quantity was a bit small, in terms of cost-effectiveness, it was still very worthwhile.

After all, the cost of these ten pills was only 20,000 yuan, if you didn't count the electricity bill.

If bought from the Association, the Association only had Superior Blood Qi Pills, which would cost 660,000 Contribution Points.

Of course, everything has two sides; although costs were saved, time could not be saved.

Calculating by the quarter-hour refining time for one furnace of pills, 124 portions of herbs would require 1,860 minutes, which is 30 hours!

This long duration might be an unbearable ordeal for many people.

Lu Yu took a deep breath; there was nothing to hesitate about, just get to work.

Time slowly slipped away in this waiting of quarter-hour after quarter-hour; half an hour, one hour... more than ten hours passed.

Meanwhile, in the Base's cafeteria, Kang Yuan was holding his breakfast, looking around curiously while eating.

"Strange, why haven't I seen Brother Lu all morning?" A trace of doubt appeared in his eyes as he muttered to himself.

"Maybe he'll be here in a bit?" Chang Lei said with a smile on his face.

"Mm, he should be here soon," Jiang Yao also agreed with a smile.

After sparring with Lu Yu yesterday, she had gained a lot of inspiration; although it couldn't compare to the direct breakthrough progress of someone like Chang Lei, she was very satisfied, as this also depended on one's personal opportunity and fortune.

However, the group waited for a long time, and Lu Yu's figure never appeared in the cafeteria.

"Really strange, is Brother Lu still not awake?" The few of them looked at each other, full of confusion.

"I'll ask in the group," Kang Yuan said, taking out his phone and sending a message in the Branch Group to ask, but after waiting for a long time, no one replied.

"Maybe he's just too tired from these past few days?" Jiang Yao guessed. "He went out alone to hunt so many Advanced Fierce Beasts the day before yesterday, and sparred with so many of us yesterday; it's normal for him to be tired. Let's go to the Training Room ourselves first."

"Makes sense." The others nodded one after another. Although they were a bit disappointed, they thought they would surely see Lu Yu by noon.

But who knew, in the blink of an eye it was noon, and the group still hadn't seen a trace of Lu Yu.

"What on earth is going on? Is Brother Lu still not awake? It's already noon!" Kang Yuan couldn't help but complain.

"That shouldn't be? Could he be training in the Training Room?" someone guessed.

"Doesn't look like it; I just passed by and saw that the doors to the ten Training Rooms were all open, and there was no one inside."

"Could he have gone out?" Yang Dongwen suddenly blurted out.

As soon as these words were spoken, the faces of the others turned deathly pale.

The Branch President had specifically warned them the day before yesterday to stay in the Base for these few days, and they knew exactly why.

Lu Yu had killed quite a few people from the Merchant Guild, and the other side would certainly not let it go and would definitely look for an opportunity to retaliate.

If Lu Yu had gone out at a time like this...

"Should we ask the Branch President?" Jiang Yao said, full of worry. "If Lu Yu really went out, the consequences would be unimaginable."

"Right, let's ask the Branch President quickly," Kang Yuan said, directly picking up his phone to call the Branch President.

"Ah? You're asking if Lu Yu might have gone out?" Sun Wei couldn't help but laugh and cry when he heard this. "No, he's been in the Base the whole time, he hasn't gone out."

"He hasn't gone out, that's good then." Hearing this, the group finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Branch President, then why haven't we seen him for most of the day? Is he still resting in his room?"

"I'm not too sure, but he should be refining pills in the Alchemy Room, right?" Sun Wei guessed.

Lu Yu asked him for the key to the Alchemy Room last night and hasn't returned it yet, so he is likely still busy inside.

People who refine pills have always been like this; among those who refined pills in the past, who wasn't someone who forgot to eat and sleep, working day and night?

"Refining pills?!!"

Upon hearing this, the few of them felt a "buzz" in their minds and were completely stunned, as if they had heard something unbelievable.
