Chapter 358: Exploding the Furnace?

They all knew it like the back of their hands; the Association's existing True Qi Pill Prescription produced results that were truly unsatisfactory.

If one could refine three True Qi Pills in a single furnace, one would have to burn high incense and be deeply grateful; usually, it hovered around two.

If one were unlucky enough, one might only refine a lonely, solitary pill in a furnace; such a situation had not failed to occur.

But now, this improved prescription in Lu Yu's mouth actually claimed to be able to increase the probability of High Grade True Qi Pills appearing to eighty or ninety percent?

This magnitude of improvement was simply three or four times the original foundation!

This, how could this happen? In their understanding, this was simply a fantasy, exceeding the limits of their imagination.

"Kong Ming, did he take the initiative to call you?" Yao Lao came to his senses and asked hurriedly.

"Yes." Kong Ming nodded hurriedly and began to explain in detail: "Little Brother Lu took the initiative to contact me. When I first received the call, I was full of expectation that he had changed his mind and intended to join the headquarters.

Who could have thought that as soon as he opened his mouth, he asked me if we wanted the improved True Qi Pill Prescription, and even said that if we wanted it, he could sell it to us for a cheaper price."

"This kid, he only recognizes money in his eyes!" Yao Lao couldn't help but complain helplessly, but although he said so, he also knew in his heart that since he had this ability, it was normal to set some conditions.

Immediately after, he said eagerly: "Quick, quick, quick, hurry up and connect the communication, I want to see with my own eyes whether what he said this time is true or not."

"Right, right, hurry up." He Lao also urged repeatedly from the side.

Kong Ming was actually looking forward to it as well, so he hurriedly took out his mobile phone and called Lu Yu.

In less than three minutes, the two sides connected to a video call.

Unlike last time, Lu Yu was all by himself on his side. And here at the headquarters, besides Yao Lao and Kong Ming, there was an extra person, He Lao.

"So young!" When he saw Lu Yu, He Lao couldn't help but exclaim.

He had originally pondered in his heart that the young man Yao Lao spoke of who could improve the prescription must be at least twenty or thirty years old; after all, in alchemy, without a certain amount of experience and background, it was difficult to achieve anything.

But the young man appearing on the screen before him looked to be only in his early twenties, with youthful vigor rushing toward him.

This made He Lao feel suspicious; did that Top-grade Blood Qi Pill Prescription really come from his hands, and was it improved by him?

"Little Brother Lu, let me introduce you. This is He Lao, who is also an Alchemist at the headquarters and has profound attainments in alchemy.

He Lao, this is Lu Yu, the Little Brother Lu who provided us with the prescription."

Kong Ming hurriedly made the introductions from the side.

"He Lao." Lu Yu nodded to He Lao on the other side of the screen.

"Yes, Little Brother Lu, hello." He Lao tried hard to restrain the look of surprise on his face and asked: "I heard that you improved the True Qi Pill Prescription this time?"

"That's right." While answering, Lu Yu methodically placed the prepared medicinal materials into the Alchemy Furnace with great care.

While operating, he said: "I bought the Association's prescription these past two days and refined it repeatedly several times. In this process, I discovered quite a few places that could be improved.

You also know that in alchemy, every detail is crucial; if there is a slight mistake, the result will be very different.

Although this improvement process was quite difficult and I encountered many thorny problems, fortunately, the final result is not bad.

After my improved prescription, not only can the success rate of the pills be increased to eighty or ninety percent, but the probability of High Grade True Qi Pills appearing can also reach about this number."

"!!!"

The three people on the other side of the video couldn't help but gasp when they heard this.

The probability of High Grade True Qi Pills appearing was so high that they already felt it was incredible, but even the probability of the finished pills had been increased together? This, this far exceeded all their previous imaginations.

Of course, among these three, the most shocked was none other than He Lao. He heard Lu Yu say that he had only received the prescription for just two or three days.

That is to say, in these short two or three days, Lu Yu not only studied the True Qi Pill Prescription thoroughly, knew every link and the characteristics of every medicinal herb like the back of his hand, but was also able to keenly discover the shortcomings and improve them.

This is too incredible, right? He Lao couldn't help but sigh in his heart that this Lu Yu was simply gifted and a genius rarely seen in a hundred years of alchemy!

"Good, Little Brother Lu, then please demonstrate it next." Kong Ming said, suppressing the excitement in his heart.

Lu Yu nodded and reached out to press the button.

In fact, a ninety percent probability of High Grade True Qi Pills was far from his limit for refining True Qi Pills; one could even say it was far off.

It was mainly because he felt he shouldn't be too high-profile. After all, he had only received the prescription for a few days; if he handed in a prescription that could refine Supreme True Qi Pills, it would inevitably arouse too much suspicion.

Moreover, logically speaking, after the few Alchemists at the headquarters received the prescription for improving High Grade True Qi Pills, they would be able to master it after spending more time researching.

But if he suddenly gave them a prescription that could refine Supreme True Qi Pills, it would be like asking middle school students to suddenly do calculus problems; they would definitely be at a loss and have no way to start.

Of course, he also admitted that he had a little bit of selfishness.

A Supreme True Qi Pill Prescription; it would not be an exaggeration to say it was ten times better than the Top-grade Blood Qi Pill Prescription.

Selling it to the headquarters at a buyout price like this, he really couldn't bear it.

But he was in urgent need of a large amount of medicinal materials now, so it was better to sell this relatively elementary prescription to the headquarters in the form of a buyout.

This could satisfy the needs of both sides on the one hand, and on the other hand, it could be considered as contributing to strengthening the human forces.

On this side of the video, He Lao watched Lu Yu perform the refining methodically, and his heart was like fifteen buckets hanging in a well—swinging up and down.

Can this young little brother really achieve the level he said?

Unlike He Lao's different expression, Yao Lao was like facing a great enemy, his Spirit highly tense, his eyes staring closely at the screen in front of him, as if afraid of missing any detail.

Kong Ming was the same; although he only had a smattering of knowledge about alchemy, the alchemy skills Lu Yu displayed last time brought him too strong a shock, which was still vivid in his mind, so he was full of expectation and firmly believed that Lu Yu would definitely be able to do what he said.

Time flowed slowly in the tense atmosphere.

Yao Lao's brows gradually twisted into a knot; it was not that he felt there was anything wrong with Lu Yu's operation, but as Lu Yu's alchemy progressed, he actually found that he could understand it less and less.

The same was true for He Lao on the side; he considered himself to have high attainments in True Qi Pill refining, usually able to refine four or five finished pills in one furnace, and when his luck was excellent, he could even produce one or two High Grade True Qi Pills.

It was precisely because the headquarters hoped to seek a breakthrough on the basis of the existing Blood Qi Pill Prescription that he and Yao Lao were transferred here.

However, at this moment, the alchemy technique of this young little brother in front of him made his brain chaotic, and he was completely at a loss.

"Could it be that his level of refining True Qi Pills has already reached a depth that I cannot fathom?" This thought popped up in He Lao's heart suddenly.

In the blink of an eye, another ten or twenty minutes passed. Lu Yu on the screen was still immersed in the alchemy process with full concentration, as if everything in the outside world had nothing to do with him.

Kong Ming couldn't help but lean closer to Yao Lao and asked in a low voice: "Yao Lao, does it take so long to refine a furnace of True Qi Pills? It feels like it's been almost half an hour, right?"

"Otherwise?" Yao Lao glared at Kong Ming angrily, "Do you think refining True Qi Pills is the same as refining Blood Qi Pills, which can be done and out of the furnace in ten minutes? If it were really that easy, the price of True Qi Pills wouldn't be ridiculously high."

After hearing this, Kong Ming looked embarrassed; he really didn't know much about this aspect.

"Forty minutes is the absolute minimum," He Lao added from the side, "and that is only if everything goes smoothly; if there is a small mishap halfway through, it will take about fifty minutes."

Just then, a crisp "bang" sound suddenly came from the screen.

"!" The three of them jolted, and almost subconsciously, their gazes all snapped toward the screen.

"Just now? Did I hear wrong?" He Lao muttered to himself, his eyes filled with an expression of disbelief.

The pill furnace actually made a sound? There are usually only two reasons for this to happen; the first, and most common, is that the Pill has been successfully refined and is ready to be released.

And the second is a situation that Alchemists fear above all else—a furnace explosion; once the furnace explodes, the entire batch of pills is declared ruined.

But this young brother Lu, from the time he started refining pills until now, has only been at it for about thirty minutes, right? The normal duration to refine a batch of True Qi Pill is forty minutes.

Looking at it this way, this sound most likely signifies the second, terrible situation...
