Chapter 80: The women are all mute, while the men are both deaf and mute

~13 min read 2,483 words

Teach you half?

Looking at that pretty face that came into view, Niu Dingtian was slightly startled—how could this little girl's skin be thicker than mine?

However, for Niu Dingtian, as long as it's not one of his own, he wouldn't let anyone take even the slightest advantage from him; he immediately asked:

"How? Miss Huang, are you willing to be my half-wife?"

Next, regardless of Huang Rong's expression, he began to pace, pondering:

"Being a half-wife is not impossible—it just means we only consummate the marriage without having children; that wouldn't be bad, it's just a pity."

"Pah! Shameless!"

Before he could finish, Huang Rong could no longer bear it, she let out an angry shout and swung her palm at him.

The palm wind came; Niu Dingtian shifted to dodge, the palm wind came again, he shifted again. Back and forth they went, Niu Dingtian hadn't launched a single move, yet Huang Rong's attacks all missed.

"You! You shameless!"

"You must compensate for my family's peach tree!"

Huang Rong jumped in fright, then she glared with wide eyes and let out an angry cry.

"Get lost! Didn't I say so?"

"Of course they're neck and neck!"

Niu Dingtian followed closely, step for step, not letting go; after turning sideways, he thought a moment and then continued speaking:

Huang Rong angrily shouted, then turned away, sniffled, fiercely whipped her bamboo whip, then turned and strode off quickly. After walking away, she couldn't help but sob and utter harsh words:

"Listen! I've remembered you! You wait for me, miss!"

Is that enough to earn a grudge?

Niu Dingtian came to his senses, saw her fading figure, and hurriedly employed his movement technique to give chase.

"You're going to die!"

"You cried?"

"Hmph! With just you? You're not even worthy to be compared to my father!"

Niu Dingtian didn't mind this little girl's tsundere side; he just calmly continued following, after a while he clasped his hands behind his back and calmly asked:

"Miss Huang, how do you think my martial arts compare to your father's?"

Unbothered by the mockery, Niu Dingtian glanced away, took a look at that pretty face, then softly added:

"You really didn't cry?"

Niu Dingtian was somewhat surprised, he lowered his smile, stepped forward and leaned in to ask.

Huang Rong finally couldn't help but stop her steps; after a cold snort, she gave Niu Dingtian a disdainful, tsundere glance.

As soon as Huang Rong finished speaking, Niu Dingtian wore a calm expression and spoke softly.

"But the Northern Beggar Hong Qi was defeated by my hands—I crippled his martial arts."

"May I tell Miss Huang about the outside world? The affairs beyond the island are far more exciting than those on it."

"Little Huang Rong, how laughable; wait until your father comes out, and you'll naturally have a time when you'll need to beg me."

Huang Rong blurted it out, but after thinking, she continued to hold her pretty face high and sweetly added:

Niu Dingtian directly ignored the contempt on Huang Rong's pretty face, merely smiling as he spoke again:

Huang Rong angrily denied it; she had wanted to snatch her bamboo whip and stab him hard, but thinking of his movement technique, she felt a surge of frustration, stomped her feet resentfully, then turned away.

This concerns his glorious battle record, leaving no room for joking.

This young lady has grown up this way, always pampered by her father and respected by her servants; she has never suffered such injustice, yet today she has been repeatedly humiliated—outwitted, unable to fight back, and even mocked using her maiden name, driven to her own doorstep, and still her father hasn't appeared!

"Miss Huang, you're so confident in your father's martial arts? Then how does your father's martial arts compare to that of the Northern Beggar Hong Qi?"

Niu Dingtian didn't believe it, he shamelessly blocked Huang Rong's path to continue questioning. He truly hadn't expected that such a clever little girl would be driven to tears by anger.

After she reacted, she again gave Niu Dingtian a cold snort, then held her head high and hurried away.

"Pah! What can you do? You must be surnamed Niu—all you do is blow hot air!"

After hearing that, Huang Rong's steps faltered slightly, but she didn't respond, still marching forward in anger.

"Hmph! Get lost!"

Upon hearing that, although Huang Rong's steps didn't stop, the light in her eyes flickered twice. Evidently, she felt somewhat moved, but thinking of the hateful aspect, she rolled her eyes and ignored him again.

Huang Rong, exasperated and exhausted, stopped, pointed at Niu Dingtian, and shouted angrily.

Her father is none other than the Eastern Heretic Huang Yaoshi! One of the Five Top Martial Arts of the World! In her heart he is naturally the strongest. This shameless wretch before her may have decent martial arts, but compared to her father, he is simply laughable.

In just a couple of breaths, Niu Dingtian had caught up, silently walking side by side with Huang Rong.

Huang Rong obviously didn't believe it, and directly voiced her mockery.

Huang Rong, walking ahead, had gradually stopped her sobbing; whenever she thought of the hateful thing, she gritted her teeth, brandished her bamboo whip, and as she walked, stopping and starting, she continually lashed the bamboo leaves by the roadside.

"But my father is versed in heavenly knowledge and earthly geography, the Five Phases and Eight Trigrams, the Mysterious Gate, music, chess, calligraphy, painting, even agricultural waterworks and military strategy—he knows and excels at them all. Thus Hong Qigong naturally cannot compare to my father!"

"Just last month, deep in the great desert."

Niu Dingtian followed leisurely at her side, seeing her cheeks still puffed with anger, he softly asked:

"Miss Huang, staying on this island, do you feel very lonely?"

"Miss Huang, would you like to go out and have a look at Peach Blossom Island?"

As she seethed, she suddenly thought of the injustice, her heart twisted, and finally even her bright eyes began to blur.

"No!"

Seeing that Niu Dingtian didn't seem to be pretending, Huang Rong's expression gradually stiffened; slowly, her heart grew tighter, as if she suddenly thought of something, and her pretty face changed color.

At a glance, Niu Dingtian probably also guessed what Huang Rong was thinking, but he didn't care, merely continuing to speak softly:

"Miss Huang, do you now understand the value of my movement technique? It's not that I'm stingy—I, Niu Dingtian, am not a petty person—but we've only just met; how could I impart it to you based solely on a single meal?"

If it were ordinary external possessions, he wouldn't care—even if it were a sweat-and-blood steed like Guo Jing's, or a fur coat like his, for the sake of a meal he could casually discard them.

But the martial arts he has mastered are the true foundation for one's standing in this world; if you're not one of us, how could you foolishly pass them on at will.

"Hmph! Who cares!"

After regaining her composure, Huang Rong felt a bit uneasy, yet she would not show weakness in her words.

But after her big eyes flickered, her face no longer held the earlier coquettish arrogance; instead, she asked in a seemingly casual, delicate voice:

"Then you."

"What are you doing on Peach Blossom Island?"

If this little thief isn't lying, hasn't he already caused enough trouble? Does he also intend to trouble my father? Thinking this, the usually carefree Miss Huang began to feel uneasy.

"Miss Huang, don't you want to go outside Peach Blossom Island and have a look?"

Seeing Huang Rong's demeanor, Niu Dingtian smiled again, but his words were evasive.

"Don't want to!"

Huang Rong stubbornly refused to agree with him, flung a harsh remark, and once more lifted her pretty face and walked away.

Hmph! If you're capable, then don't eat! I'll starve you to death!

Niu Dingtian, seeing this, stopped asking; that coquettish temper can't be forced, so he leisurely followed behind her, beginning to survey the bamboo forest.

"Don't follow me!"

After only a few steps, Huang Rong stamped her foot, stopped outright, turned around, and let out a delicate shout toward the Niu Dingtian behind her.

Niu Dingtian ignored her, stepped over Huang Rong, and alone walked slowly along the forest path toward the front.

Huang Rong stood there, a little stunned; when she saw the figure ahead receding, she hurriedly chased after, calling in a delicate voice:

"Hey! Where are you going?"

Niu Dingtian paid no heed, continuing to stride forward.

Seeing the little thief no longer respond, Huang Rong grew a bit angry, quickened a few steps to catch up, and again shouted delicately:

"You, surnamed Niu! Stop right there! This is my home! Where are you going?"

"Where?"

"Of course I'm going to find your father!"

Niu Dingtian, walking ahead, spoke loudly, yet his steps never ceased.

When inspiration struck, he casually waved his hand, a bamboo leaf flew into his fingers; after infusing it with internal force, his two fingers gave a slight flick, and the leaf shot through the air instantly.

In an instant, a "creak" sounded, and a green bamboo ahead was cut cleanly at the waist.

Flying blossoms and plucked leaves can both wound; grass, wood, bamboo, and stone can all become swords.

The "awesome" reputation Murong Bo once bragged about, Niu Dingtian, feeling whimsical today, gave a live, lethal demonstration before Huang Rong.

"Miss Huang, how would you say my martial arts compare to your father's Finger Snap Divine Skill?"

After leaving that sentence, he paid no further attention, and kept stepping forward.

"You"

Huang Rong was stunned by that move, about to speak, but found Niu Dingtian's figure already gone; in a panic she hurriedly lifted her foot to chase, calling out in an urgent, delicate voice:

"Hey! Why are you looking for my father? You, surnamed Niu, stop! Quickly tell me why you're looking for my father!"

Leaving Huang Rong behind, Niu Dingtian accelerated, racing along the forest's bluestone path; after a short while, he reached the end.

The scene before his eyes was unexpected; instead of the imagined bamboo houses and pavilions, there stood rows of elegant, exquisite Jiangnan-style buildings.

Bathed in moonlight along the road, after walking a distance, he discovered that the damned flower beds, artificial hills, pavilions, and towers were all present, more beautiful than his own Sun and Moon Villa. For a moment, Niu Dingtian felt a twinge of jealousy.

"Hey! You, surnamed Niu! Stop right there!"

Niu Dingtian was about to slip into the courtyard to take a look when Huang Rong, having hurriedly caught up, ran ahead, blocked his path, gripping his sleeves tightly with fierce eyes, and snarled:

"Speak! What do you want with my father?"

Having just witnessed the little thief's terrifying power, she truly began to worry he was coming to trouble her father.

"Is this your home?"

Niu Dingtian still gave no answer, merely pointing at the nearby pavilion and uttering a pointless question.

Huang Rong gave no reply, lifted her pretty face, her gaze hesitant as it swept over Niu Dingtian's face, and finally she slowly nodded.

"Your home is indeed stunning, even prettier than mine."

He kept humming, examined it carefully a few times, and Niu Dingtian, somewhat envious, began to compliment.

"Tell me quickly why you're looking for my father!"

Seeing this person dodge the point, Huang Rong grew angry, tightened her grip on his sleeve, and questioned again.

"I'm hungry, Miss Huang, could you make me something to eat?"

Niu Dingtian slightly lowered his head, gazing at that delicate, breakable pretty face, and smiled as he spoke, showing no courtesy at all.

"You"

Hearing such shameless words, Huang Rong opened her mouth to retort, but seemed to recall something and held back.

"Hmph!"

Then, with a coquettish snort, she flicked off his sleeve and stormily walked forward.

After a few steps, seeing Niu Dingtian had not followed, she turned around and snarled:

"Hey! Are you going to eat or not?"

"Eat! Of course I'll eat!" Niu Dingtian replied with a smile, but recalling the two people at sea, he spoke again:

"There are two people staying overnight on my boat tonight; Miss Huang, could you casually provide some blankets and food? I'll deliver them later."

What a damn hassle!

Huang Rong clenched her teeth, gave a scowling eye roll, turned into the courtyard, and though she said nothing, she did not refuse.

Niu Dingtian, seeing this, quickly stepped forward, entered the courtyard, and as he walked, he curiously surveyed the surroundings; the more he examined, the more he liked it, and for a moment felt an urge to claim it as his own.

Hiss! So scary!

He was suddenly startled by this thought.

"Little thief! What are you looking at?"

A sharp shout suddenly rang out, startling Niu Dingtian back to his senses; he glanced over and saw Huang Rong unknowingly walking beside him, her face full of vigilance as she scanned his face.

"What are you looking at? Naturally, I'm looking at your courtyard! Miss Huang, your courtyard is quite lovely."

Niu Dingtian replied with a smile.

"Hmph! You better behave! If anything goes missing from my home, I'll come after you!"

After giving a haughty hum as a warning, Huang Rong turned her head away, took small steps, and continued leading the way ahead.

Just now she saw no movement behind her for a while, so she slowed her steps a bit, wanting to see what this little thief was up to; unexpectedly, this person was staring at her courtyard with shining eyes, a look she knew all too well.

After hearing the warning, Niu Dingtian felt a black line across his forehead—this pesky girl is treating him like a thief?

At that moment, a female servant hurried over from the front; when she reached Huang Rong's side, she could only make muffled sounds, unable to speak, and kept gesturing with her hands.

"Got it!"

After seeing the gestures, Huang Rong replied impatiently, then directly instructed the mute girl in a sweet voice:

"Go tell the kitchen to prepare some ingredients; later I'll personally handle it."

"Also go prepare two blankets and some food to send over."

The mute girl nodded after receiving the orders, then hurried off.

"Mute?"

After the mute girl left, Niu Dingtian moved closer to Huang Rong, looking curious.

Nonsense!

Huang Rong gave him a white eye upon hearing that, slightly annoyed she moved aside before speaking crisply:

"Besides, they're all wicked people; on this island, only I and my father can speak— as for them, the women are all mute, and the men are both deaf and mute."
