Chapter 322: Punishment

The sequence of events is now clear.

Lan You went to Baodan Ge to ask Jun Shaowei about some matters; Zhang Ting found out and went to provoke a fight. The two eventually engaged in a fierce struggle, and Jun Shaowei, in a fit of anger and rage, grabbed the wrong Spirit Talisman, which led to this incident.

Upholding the Immortal Alliance Elders' consistent attitude of smoothing things over, and given that no overly serious consequences had been brewed, this matter could generally only end with each side receiving three hundred strokes.

Therefore, after a round of bargaining through Soul communication, a group of Elders, Qingyangzi announced the penalty results for this matter.

Because Jun Shaowei abused a fifth-rank Spirit Talisman, triggering a disturbance at the Immortal Alliance Assembly and causing an extremely vile impact, he is sentenced to five strikes of the Thunder Penalty.

Zhang Ting maliciously provoked the fight, breaking into Baodan Ge and causing loss of personnel and property to Junwang Hall; the impact was vile, it disgraced the demeanor of the Immortal Sect, and disrupted the friendly atmosphere of the Immortal Alliance Assembly, so he is sentenced to ten strikes of the Soul Whip.

Apart from the Immortal Alliance's punishment, both must be taken back by their respective Immortal Sects for strict discipline. If a similar incident occurs again, the Immortal Alliance will increase the punishment, the heaviest naturally being one hundred strikes of the Thunder Penalty, resulting in immediate annihilation.

And anyone worth the Immortal Alliance taking action to punish must have a cultivation level that is certainly not too poor, though naturally, it will not be too light either.

The Great Cultivator carrying out the execution had long since turned a blind eye to such situations, and with an emotionless voice, gave the order again.

"Fourth thunder..."

But it is also a warning, requiring each sect to restrain their own Disciples well and not cause trouble again.

"Ah~~"

It has only been two strikes, and Jun Shaowei is already in such a miserable state; once the five thunders are finished, this person will likely be completely crippled.

And these organizations did not disappoint everyone; very soon, definite news was spread: Jun Shaowei, five strikes of the Thunder Penalty; Zhang Ting, ten strikes of the Soul Whip.

While gloating over others' misfortune, the onlookers all turned pale with terror.

Xu Chen and the other three were also mixed in among them, following along to watch the excitement.

Originally, according to the trouble Jun Shaowei caused this time and the vile impact it created, it would have been enough to strip him of his cultivation.

"Activate the True Thunder Tower, take the Junwang Hall cultivator Jun Shaowei to receive his punishment. Fellow Daoists, observe quietly and take this as a warning; by no means violate the laws of the Immortal Alliance Assembly!"

When Zhang Ting and Jun Shaowei first started fighting, she had left quickly and was not involved in it at all.

At the same time, the voice of the Law Enforcement Elder, bolstered by Spirit Qi, resounded for a thousand miles around Langya Mountain.

In this kind of scene, only a powerhouse of the True Spirit Realm can truly hold the stage.

Therefore, although Jun Shaowei was punished the most severely and caused the biggest trouble, in the eyes of all the Great Cultivators, this fellow was actually the most innocent and unlucky one.

A night passed in a flash.

As for Lan You, she was truly very innocent and indeed had nothing to do with this matter.

The so-called "many ants can bite an elephant to death."

The onlookers almost all wore expressions of terror, their Souls trembling; many among them began to retreat, and even many Danyuan Realm cultivators mixed in had their faces twisted and pale, shivering uncontrollably as the thunder light descended.

The sound rolled like thunder and quickly disappeared.

The faces of several Law Enforcement Great Cultivators twitched incessantly, and some even showed a trace of slight fear on their faces.

The tens of thousands of cultivators who came to the assembly were instantly extremely excited, and cheers rose up everywhere.

Sure enough, the Law Enforcement Elder Qingyangzi spread a wave of Spirit Qi that swept out in all directions, transforming into the shadows of mountains and rivers that filled the sky. The terrifying aura suddenly felt like heaven and earth were inverted, and all the cultivators who came to watch felt as if they had fallen into a ten-thousand-year ice cave, and with a start, they quieted down.

Jun Shaowei let out another shrill scream, and his whole body lay on the ground without movement.

"Forget it, having this result is already about right. If it weren't for the many Elders in the Immortal Alliance, he would definitely have had nothing happen to him."

The clamorous and noisy din instantly fell silent.

Jun Shaowei's Soul and vital energy were already sealed by the Array, so he had no ability to resist and thus took this thunder strike solidly.

"The punishment is not light, it can be considered reasonable!"

"Boom~"

"That's what I'm saying, the Immortal Alliance Elder Council is still considered fair. Such a good thing, we should drink a big cup of wine to celebrate; let's go, let's go drink!"

Amidst the hustle and bustle, the sunset soon fell to the west, the evening glow filled the sky, and after dusk arrived, Escape Lights flickered like fireworks all around Langya Mountain, the sound of clamor resounding through heaven and earth, looking even more lively and extraordinary.

After all, Jun Shaowei is already a Danyuan Realm cultivator; if it were a Zhenyuan Realm one, it is estimated that one thunder strike would have directly scattered their Soul.

If this thunder strike had landed on oneself, I fear the outcome would have been even more miserable.

"Yeah-ho~~"

At the foot of the mountain, this was originally a flat, large trading market, but it was also the planned main venue for the Immortal Alliance Assembly.

The other types are mostly the same, but short-term punishments vary in strength; those that are short in duration and quick to take effect are naturally the Soul Whip lashes and the True Thunder Tower thunder strikes.

The third thunder fell; lying on the ground, Jun Shaowei only gave a symbolic groan this time, lying in the churning thunder light like a bundle of messy grass without moving at all.

Although five strikes of the Thunder Penalty are not considered heavy, taking them is not easy; without a large amount of Spirit Pills and medicine, one will not recover in half a year or a year.

The next morning, as the sky grew slightly bright, one could see cultivators densely packed like crucian carp crossing a river, heading toward the southeast coast of Langya.

"Obey the Law Enforcement Elder's order!"

The Immortal Alliance has many means of punishment: Spirit Fire pillars, Soul Whips, Cold Ice Chambers, Earth Punishment Mountain, Yin Wind Caves, and the True Thunder Tower.

After Xu Chen met up with True Monarch Guiling, Lin Qiuya, and Ling Yuzhen, they found a slightly quiet place near the foot of the mountain, set up an Array barrier, and each began to meditate and rest.

Of course, this last sentence was just for show, and the execution was not very strong.

With almost no interval, the Great Cultivator in charge of the punishment issued the order again, and then, with a loud boom, a bolt of thunder light fell from the third floor of the True Thunder Tower, smashing onto Jun Shaowei.

Chuchenzi, the Elder of Junwang Hall who was presiding over the Immortal Alliance, was also helpless.

Death can be avoided, but living suffering is hard to escape; although this round of punishment will not take his life, the damage and humiliation caused can be said to be unforgettable for a lifetime.

Therefore, many people began to flock to Juntian Pavilion or some well-informed cultivator organizations to inquire about the specific measures of the punishment.

Spirit Fire is only felt most intensely by the Soul; once ignited, it will be like the fire possessing the body, sticking to the Three Souls and Seven Souls and burning continuously. It will not be fatal in the short term, but over a long time, both the Soul and the physical body will suffer great damage; a Danyuan Realm cultivator would be burned to death alive after being burned for dozens of days.

"Yeah, it seems the Immortal Alliance Elders didn't intend to shield these two guys this time, especially Jun Shaowei; after these five thunders are finished, he will lose a layer of skin even if he doesn't die."

Accompanied by a loud shout from the Spirit Transformation Great Cultivator in charge of the True Thunder Tower execution, the third floor of the tens-of-feet-high tower, where thunder and fire were churning, suddenly sprayed a bolt of red thunder light from the window, which smashed onto Jun Shaowei, who was restrained in the air, with a boom.

Therefore, this thunder strike directly knocked Jun Shaowei from the sky to the ground, and he lay on the ground screaming and twitching all over.

Because in history, the Immortal Alliance did indeed fly into a thunderous rage and once took action to eliminate a few heinous cultivators, most of whom were Danyuan Realm powerhouses, and there was even one Spirit Transformation Great Cultivator.

Watching these Disciples of large Immortal Sects, who are usually high and mighty and arrogant, get beaten is much more pleasant than drinking tea, discussing the Dao, chatting, and bragging.

Tens of thousands of cultivators at the scene erupted into a burst of enthusiastic cheers.

But after all, a great battle is imminent, and too harsh a punishment would cause Junwang Hall to become alienated and disaffected.

This type of thunder punishment is far more powerful than a minor Dan Tribulation, and it is an all-encompassing attack targeting everything from the Soul to the physical body.

With the Immortal Alliance Assembly only two days away, slow punishment is no longer possible; to demonstrate the authority of the Immortal Alliance Elder Council and to provide a serious and satisfactory attitude to all the cultivators who have come to attend the Immortal Alliance Assembly, the Elder Council decided to use the fastest and most obvious means of punishment just now, dragging the two men down the mountain to have the enforcement Elder arrange for the punishment to be carried out in public.

After the punishment was announced, several enforcement Great Cultivators took Jun Shaowei and Zhang Ting away from Xianyun Palace and threw them into a prison to be temporarily detained.

"Prisoner Jun Shaowei, a total of five thunder punishments, first thunder..."

At the very least, quiet must be maintained during the Immortal Alliance Assembly; otherwise, if more trouble breaks out, other Immortal Sects would also be happy to see two major rogue sects each lose a few genius Disciples.

Around Langya Mountain, countless cultivators gathered in groups of three or five, starting to find places to happily drink and chat.

Furthermore, this time it was Zhang Ting who provoked first, and with several Divine Lords arriving soon, in order to consider the overall situation and maintain good Immortal Alliance relations, the Elders, after some negotiation and discussion, decided to use the most powerful thunder punishment to discipline Jun Shaowei.

"Third thunder..."

"Second thunder..."

A Spirit Fire pillar involves restraining a criminal cultivator on a Spirit Stone pillar and burning them with Spirit Fire.

An enforcement Spirit Transformation Realm Great Cultivator raised a hand and threw out a tower-shaped Magic Treasure; amidst a flash of spiritual light, it transformed in the blink of an eye into a five-story pagoda over ten zhang tall with thunder and fire churning, crashing down into the wasteland with a boom, splashing up a large amount of gravel and dust that rolled out in all directions.

"Ah~~"

"Yes, yes, drink, drink; we'll be parting ways in two more days. I'm afraid we'll never encounter such a lively assembly again."

True Thunder Pagoda, a fifth-grade Magic Treasure, is a specialized punishment instrument of the Immortal Alliance, capable of punishing all cultivators at the True Spirit Realm and below who violate the laws of the Immortal Alliance.

Tens of thousands of cultivators gathered together, and the momentum released shook the heavens and the earth; even though they were already at the Spirit Transformation Realm, they were still submerged by the overwhelming, dense Divine Sense surging in like a tide, as if they had fallen into a vast ocean, not to mention that there were hundreds of auras from the Danyuan Realm among them.

However, no Array had been set up yet, so it looked like a large, messy wasteland.

When a streak of red light appeared in the eastern ocean and the morning sun was about to rise, several loud and mighty Dharma bell tolls rang out in succession from Xianyun Palace at the mountain peak; suddenly, spiritual light flickered in the center of the wasteland, and the enforcement Elder appeared with a group of enforcement Great Cultivators, detaining the dejected Jun Shaowei and Zhang Ting.

As for Zhang Ting's ten Soul-Whipping lashes, they were clearly much lighter, but he would still have to suffer quite a bit, and he would be in agonizing pain after receiving them.

Junwang Hall is usually arrogant and domineering, and almost all the Immortal Sects detest them to the extreme; plus, Thunder God Hall was also relentless regarding Jun Shaowei's attempt to kill Zhang Ting directly using a Fifth-grade Spirit Talisman, so in the end, they could only grit their teeth and accept it.

"It would be better if this bastard were struck to death; keeping him alive is also a great scourge!"

"Fellow Daoist friends, because Thunder God Hall Disciple Zhang Ting and Junwang Hall Disciple Jun Shaowei engaged in malicious fighting that caused a negative impact, the Immortal Alliance Elder Council has decided to impose severe punishment. The punishment will begin after sunrise tomorrow. Please watch in the southeast assembly area, fellow Daoist friends, as a warning!"

"Fifth thunder..."

Accompanied by several booming sounds, the five-thunder execution ended in no more than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, but Jun Shaowei had already completely lost consciousness and had no sound or movement left.
