Chapter 104: Sun and Moon Pure and Bright

~9 min read 1,640 words

Xu Jia bathed and changed his clothes; originally, this was to open the altar for refining and crossing over. Today is an auspicious time: refining True Fire at noon, and refining True Water at midnight.

True Water and True Fire, refining ghosts into Immortals, returning to clarity and brightness.

This is precisely to prepare for the original soul to enter and take charge of the Body Temple.

The large vat Xu Jia spent money to order earlier was buried in the backyard, and an "Immortal Bridge" was built; this was all for this ritual.

It is just that Xu Jia currently does not yet have his own "Immortal Robe," but since Xu Mu made this patchwork robe, there is no need for any other Immortal robes or Dharma robes.

After comforting Xu Mu, Xu Jia opened the altar at home.

The Sun True Fire used was the Sun True Fire from the Yin Demon Primordial Spirit of the Lianxie Daoren from before; that fire has not yet extinguished to this day, constantly replacing charcoal and hiding under the ashes. Even when stewing chicken later, the fire was taken from there.

As for the water, it was also prepared in advance: there is well water, rainwater, and water from Jinsha Creek. These three types of water were taken out to be exposed to the sun when it got dark, and collected just before dawn, hidden in a cool place and covered with things; this has been going on for six days.

Following the procedure, Xu Jia opened the altar, purified the altar, and offered sacrifices to two divine positions: one is the "Moon Mansion Pure-Brightness Emperor Lord Wonderful-Fruit Suye Heavenly Venerable," and the other is the "Sun Palace Solar Feather-Garment Emperor Lord Compassionate-Wisdom Sun-Chasing Heavenly Venerable."

This method is no longer a side-door method of Lushan; it is the proper "Jingming Method," and the Dharma Lord is still Heavenly Master Xu Xun.

It is rumored that when Heavenly Master Xu was cultivating the Dao, the Heavenly Venerable dispatched the Sun Lord and Yuejun to teach Xu Xun the Jingming Lingbao Dao. The Sun Lord and Yuejun also privately taught the Dao of Dual Refining of Sun and Moon: the Sun refines the spirit, and the Moon refines the form. Refining the spirit with the Sun is the Yang Spirit method, while refining the form with the Moon is the Corpse-Dissection Technique of the ancient Immortals, "Taiyin Refining the Form."

Heavenly Master Xu learned it, refining both form and spirit, and in the end, his form and spirit were both complete; there was no second person in the world who could compare to him. Later, with great Dharma Power, he took his entire family of forty-two people to ascend simultaneously; even the chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats ascended together. This is the origin of "when one person attains the Dao, their chickens and dogs ascend to heaven."

Following the True Lord to ascend simultaneously were also six disciples. Moreover, the family of twenty-six of the True Lord's son-in-law, Huang Renlan, also ascended, and the family of thirty-six of his in-law, Peng Kang, also ascended.

In any case, it is just that when one person attains the Dao, anyone with even a slight kinship connection is taken along to ascend.

The reason Xu Jia teaches his parents the way of cultivation, rather than cultivating alone, is also due to the influence of the Dharma Lord, Heavenly Master Xu Xun.

However, what Xu Jia teaches is not the way of Divine Ability and Dharma Power, but only cultivating the heart, cultivating the intent, cultivating wisdom, cultivating external merits, and cultivating internal virtues.

This Heavenly Master Xu also taught methods of internal and external refining in the Jingming Dao. As for the Jingming Dao flourishing in the Song Dynasty, by the time of the Ming Dynasty, the Jingming Dao's Dharma lineage had already withered. It was only later that Quanzhen Dragon Gate Daoists entered Tiezhu Wanshou Gong to organize the Jingming Dao Canon, but much was lost and incomplete, so this Quanzhen Dragon Gate Daoist performed completions according to Quanzhen theory.

In his previous life, Xu Jia first internally refined the Qingcheng Immortal Method, and later entrusted disciples to seek the Jingming Orthodox Method and Jingming Register positions, but the gains were meager; they were all completions referenced by later generations and did not grasp the essence.

Only some Jingming altar rituals have been passed down among the folk master-priest lineages in Jiangxi, and this is among them.

Of course, the "Quanzhen Qingxuan Refining and Relieving Iron Can Food-Bestowing Ritual" is also similar to this.

Xu Jia naturally does whatever is comfortable, whatever is simple, and whatever is useful. After setting up the altar for the Sun and Moon Lords, Xu Jia sensed the Golden Body temple system from his previous life. This time, he sensed it without using the Lvshan Ascending to Heaven Great Method because Xu Jia's own "signal" had strengthened.

His divine thoughts entered a temple Dharma Realm and saw the shrine, which was still covered in Dharma Money. He did not need to pay attention to it, only looking at the note beside the shrine. This note represents the Fox Immortal Hall. Xu Jia ordered the Fox Immortal Hall to connect with the Out-of-Body Messengers to manifest spirits frequently and help the villagers, without asking for money or wealth; this period has already begun to show results.

Although not everyone makes wishes and fulfills them, the wishes the Fox Immortal Hall can solve are all small ones. The Dharma Money produced also looks like inferior money, tiny pieces, but there are still more than ten small pieces of Dharma Money scattered to the side.

Xu Jia picked them up one by one, listening to the wishes fulfilled from them.

These wishes are all very simple: some hope to find lost money, some hope for a child's high fever to subside quickly, some hope to find suitable herbs on the mountain tomorrow to treat their mother's illness, but more are because of the Qingfeng Pavilion incident; the commoners who were once persecuted by the chicken demons took the initiative to offer sacrifices and fulfill their vows. Their wish is that these chicken demons die quickly.

The dozen or so pieces of Dharma Money are all tiny, but they are already more than last time. Xu Jia threw one into the Merit Box to sense how much Dharma Power it could convert, but the result was only a little. How to put it? It is like needing twenty drops of water to make one milliliter, and one small sip is at least twenty or thirty milliliters.

Only after throwing in all the dozen or so copper coins did a small stream of Dharma Power gather on Xu Jia. However, it is enough to draw quite a few Talismans and refine the heart-general; after all, last time he only threw in three small copper coins, and he could still make one Summon Blade Mountain Hell Talisman, one Avoidance of Blades and Soldiers Talisman, and two Houshenfu.

The Talismans drawn using the Dharma Power of his previous life are completely different from borrowing the Dharma Power of Hu Jinhua or Luejue Shen. The Golden Body Dharma Power of his previous life has some pure Yang characteristics, and it is also handy to use, and can even be used directly to nourish the body.

The Dharma Power cultivated by Hu Jinhua can only be said to be barely usable for performing spells, and they are evil spells, side-door and heterodox spells, such as the Gu Technique from before. This kind of spell that invites True Gods is useless; people do not give you face.

Xu Jia first invited the Solar Emperor to descend. To invite him to descend, one needs to draw the "Jingming Yuyi Sunlight Talisman." The two characters "Yuyi" mean "summoning the divine spirits in the sun and their essence and energy."

While drawing the Talisman, Xu Jia recited the incantation, and in his mind, he visualized the Divine Transformation as a great sun.

To tell the truth, visualizing the sun and moon is a very introductory method of visualization. At the beginning, one only needs to visualize a red sun. Later, one gradually visualizes the sun having flames, having Golden Crows, the sun magnifying, and above it having the Fire Mansion Sun Palace, having the Solar Emperor...

Among the "Internal Refining Yellow Court" hundred-joint gods, the Sun God resides in the left eye and the Moon God resides in the right eye. At that time, it was based on this method that he invited the Sun and Moon Lords to descend.

However, there are also "Running to the Moon" and "Running to the Sun" methods, which are another kind of cultivation technique.

Soon, Xu Jia's Divine Transformation succeeded. Inexplicably, his temperament turned into pure Yang, and in one breath, he drew the "Supreme Jingming Yuyi Sunlight Talisman." He saw that the Talisman ink, which was originally cinnabar, had a golden light on its surface, and the temperature in the courtyard rose even more.

After drawing the Talisman, the Divine Transformation faded. Xu Jia offered the Talisman on the altar. After this Talisman was drawn, it was no longer light and fluttering, as if it had weight.

But to prevent it from being blown away by the wind, Xu Jia still used the golden toad, along with the Pressing Money where the original soul was deposited, to press it down.

Immediately after, it was time to temporarily rest the altar. Xu Jia burned incense and sat quietly, without eating or drinking.

He waited in one breath until after dusk, when the moon climbed onto the branches, before he began to visualize the moon and started drawing the "Supreme Pure-Brightness Moonlight Talisman."
