Chapter 131: Felling the Mountain and Breaking the Temple

~9 min read 1,606 words

At this moment on the mountain peak, Xu Jia saw an evil aura approaching. This evil aura echoed with the evil aura of the centipede dragon, showing signs of "relieving the siege."

"Ascend the platform!" Xu Jia, wearing his patchwork robe, began to build the platform directly.

This time, his body felt lighter than before, but also more dangerous. Below was the Cloud Sea; if he had the thought of casting his body away, it would be a matter of a single leap.

After building three or four layers of the table altar, there was already a feeling of swaying from side to side. Firstly, it was not flat ground but a mountain peak; secondly, the tables were not necessarily fitted together; and thirdly, the mountain wind was howling.

However, Xu Jia had already used the Wind-Calming Pearl, which temporarily stilled the wind and stopped the Qi, but this wind-calming only applied to himself and could not stabilize the table altar.

But it did not matter. Xu Jia's body was light and his form agile. After using the spirit to wash the body and balance the Essence Qi, Xu Jia had already stepped into the cultivation process of a "Human Immortal."

After flipping up another three layers of the platform, Xu Jia already had the thought of "floating away, independent and aloof from the world."

Chang Yu was there, both afraid and expectant; she wanted Xu Jia to fall, yet worried that he would truly fall.

He guarded the edge of the altar, flicking his tongue and muttering: "If he falls, he's a fake. If he can be killed by a fall, he isn't a man with the Five Blessings, and he can't grant me my canonization. Rather than letting him fall to his death, it would be better if he just happened to fall into my mouth; eating him would count as fresh."

However, he was destined to be disappointed. Aside from the basic four-layer table altar, Xu Jia handled the remaining nine layers of the single altar with ease.

After climbing up to the thirteen-layer altar, Xu Jia used the basket to hoist up everything needed for the Altar Opening. These were all available in Shanju Guan: altar cloths, spirit tablets, Incense Burner, Paperweight, command tokens, wooden swords, flags, mirrors, and seals.

With everything prepared, he finally opened the altar on that tiny square of space to announce it to Heaven and Earth.

The deity Xu Jia worshipped was none other than the Three Pure Ones.

Although there was no statue, only a spirit tablet, it was enough to manifest the solemnity: "Void Natural Great Luo Three Pure Ones Three Realms Three Treasures Heavenly Venerable."

Xu Jia burned incense and bowed, then took out the sacrificial text he had written earlier and spoke: "Three Pure Ones Ancestor, Supreme Holy Venerable, Laojun, Yuanshi Tianzun, Lingbao Heavenly Venerable, the Three Treasures as one, Daoism is boundless. Today, your disciple offers this sacrifice with piety, opening the altar to subdue demons, protect the common people, and pray for the peace of Heaven and Earth."

"Humbly: Heaven and Earth are mysterious and yellow, the universe is a primordial wilderness, the Sanqing Shengzu, the Daoism sets sail."

"Laojun, your virtue is high and lofty, manifesting divine might in the Alchemical Furnace, holding the Supreme Ultimate diagram in your hand, wielding the subtle principles of yin and yang, suppressing evil and eliminating wickedness, nurturing all spirits."

"Yuanshi Tianzun, you opened Heaven and Earth, holding the Primordial Pearl, grasping the gate of the Infinite, with the merit of creation, cleansing the dust, and dispelling the darkness."

"Lingbao Heavenly Venerable, your wisdom is deep and vast, holding the Lingbao Ruyi, expounding the immeasurable Dharma, saving all living beings, and illuminating the lost path."

"Now there are demons running rampant, disturbing the universe, overturning yin and yang. Therefore, your disciple, with a heart of utmost sincerity, offers incense and lights candles, fresh flowers and pure water, praying for the descent of Daoism!"

He immediately placed the previously written sacrificial text for the deposition of the evil god on the altar to be burned.

In an instant, three wisps of clear smoke rose; within the Dharma Realm, however, it was a different scene.

On the thirteen-layer altar, it was already the four-nine heavy heavens, knocking directly at the Heavenly Gate.

Auspicious light and celebratory clouds descended. Laojun and Yuanshi were not very distinct, but a streak of mysterious light representing the orthodoxy of Lingbao Heavenly Venerable descended.

Xu Jia was slightly stunned; he truly had not expected there to be a "spiritual response."

In his past life, he had worshipped the Three Pure Ones countless times, but it was always just a "psychological effect." Some "auspicious signs" would appear, but even when participating in the "Grand Offering to Heaven," he did not see many great gods summoned; rather, it was some minor gods that had quite a spiritual response.

Xu Jia had thought it was because the "great gods" were of too high a rank.

Now, this was the first time Xu Jia had paid respects to the Three Pure Ones. Although he had climbed the thirteen-layer altar, what was being bolstered was his "Dharma Power," not that he had truly reached above the four-nine heavy heavens.

However, as for transmitting any Dharma or sect, that did not happen; it was merely a light descending upon the altar, acknowledging the "legitimacy" of Xu Jia's altar opening to conquer the god. On the other side, here with County Commandant Chen, he had drunk quite a bit more wine, feeling he had more strength and more courage, so he looked at the timing: "It should be about time!"

Two young Daoists, one born in the year of the Dragon and one in the year of the Tiger, followed by his side: "According to the previous instructions, it is the third quarter of the Mao hour; it is about time."

"Since it is about time, then go!"

This County Commandant Chen strode with large steps into the Mountain God Temple, his expression turning fierce, cursing as he spoke: "You dog-fucking minor god! How dare you collude with the Evil Sect! And you even gave your County Commandant master a fright! Your business is exposed today! Why don't you hurry up and get down here!"

The statue did not move, but the light and shadow around it dimmed. The appearance of the snake-wielding warrior seemed to be provoking him: I am a Seventh Rank warrior, what can a tiny Ninth Rank County Commandant do to me? Just then, the sacrificial text had already burned, and the prayer to depose the evil god had been notified to the Heavens; the "Altar" worshipping the Mountain God suddenly cracked.

"Crack!" County Commandant Chen heard it, but he laughed: "You're afraid! You coward, you're afraid of your grandfather, aren't you?"

He immediately rushed forward, kicked over the offering table, picked up the Incense Burner with both hands, and smashed it directly into the face of the statue.

The Incense Burner kicked up a lot of flying ash, and a phantom of a centipede dragon lunged out from the incense ash.

County Commandant Chen was startled and threw himself into a collision, but there was nothing there; he only hit the statue. The statue was not knocked over, as if it had taken root.

"I'll fuck your grandmother!"

County Commandant Chen cursed at the two Daoists born in the year of the Dragon and the year of the Tiger: "Why aren't you coming up!"

The two Daoists, for a moment, did not know which was the righteous path and which was the villain. They jumped onto the Altar and went behind the statue, giving it a kick.

The statue, which had been motionless just a moment ago, was kicked over, falling to the ground. Its head was damaged and its waist snapped, revealing the contents hidden inside.

A centipede pieced together from white bones, with blackened bloodstains on it.

"So this is the root of the Mountain God's evil fall!" the two Shanju Guan Daoists said with regret: "If we had discovered it sooner and removed it, it wouldn't have come to this today!"

County Commandant Chen kicked it to pieces: "Disgusting thing!"

He then chuckled: "You two, do you consider this official heroic?"

"The County Commandant is extremely brave! You actually do not fear the retribution of ghosts and gods."

"These so-called Underworld retributions, I have never believed in them. I only believe in immediate retribution. If there really were such things in this world, bad people would die immediately and good people would live to a hundred; wouldn't that be much better than being judged only after death?"

"I am an official, and an official is there to manage the people. The public security of this county has always been good; isn't that my merit? If I say retribution comes, then retribution comes. Whether it is a god or a man, can they be greater than the law?"

As the statue was pushed over, the "spirit position and divine status" of the Yushan Mountain God could no longer be maintained.

At Wugong Ling, the evil spiritual light that had escaped from the statue wanted to merge with the main body.

But it was blocked by an invisible barrier; it was the array of Five Elements Sand.

Within the Dharma Realm, a thousand-foot centipede bared its fangs and brandished its claws, its body covered in Black Qi and black slime, dripping down.

It saw him staring fixedly at Xu Jia, who was setting up the altar on Sanqing Mountain.
