They said coldly, "You Daoist, you steal the roots of my sisters, yet you are still so self-righteous."

"Return them quickly, or we will make you pay!"

Xu Jia said, "This is a useful use for me, but a useless use for you. These pearls were originally sand that fell into your bodies and tormented you; they are foreign objects. You have been tormented for many years and feel uncomfortable, yet you have become accustomed to it. Now that I have taken them away, you are reluctant to let go. I do not want yours for nothing; you three sisters have some Karmic Connection. I will give you a choice: you only need to take me as your master, and I will save you, helping you be reborn as infants, casting off your clam shells, refining yourselves into humans, and cultivating for another lifetime, so you may have Immortal wonders and ingenuity."

The three clam women heard this and hesitated for a moment: "How do we know you are real? What abilities do you have that would make us take you as our master?"

Thereupon they bowed one after another: "Disciples had eyes but failed to recognize a true Immortal; we beg Master to forgive our sins."

Xu Jia laughed and said, "No need for such formalities. I took these pearls because I have a use for them, and I have formed a cause with you. Good causes bring good fruits, and evil causes bring evil fruits. If you do not cultivate Karmic Connection, you cultivate karma. You three having this Karmic Connection today is also because of your years of hard cultivation; it is a Calamity, and also a cutting off of the Calamity."

Having said this, Xu Jia transmitted the Lingbao Daoist Citizen Register to the three of them and said, "You have no names; since you have obtained a strand of Mirage Essence, I shall name you Yunxiao, Qiongxiao, and Bixiao. Furthermore, take Mirage as your surname, cast off the insect fetus, and become Chen; Chen Yunxiao, Chen Qiongxiao, and Chen Bixiao. I will not transmit anything else to you, only all water methods and all Capture Water Essence Talisman methods, as well as the God Immortal path. You are good at refining Dharma pearls, so take these twenty-four bright pearls and refine them to capture and absorb sea Qi; they shall be the Twenty-Four Vast Sea Bright Moon Pearls. Once you master the Twenty-Four Solar Terms, you will have the power to govern the ocean's fortune and the ability to deduce lunar tides."

The three Xiao obtained their names and surnames, feeling happy and free; their Mirage Qi became their clothes, and their original clam shells shrank to become three Shell Carriages. Though called carriages, the interiors formed their own Dharma Realm palaces; if cultivated to completion, they would form Mirage Scenes on the sea, which would be the Three Immortal Islands.

"Disciples thank Master for the grace of teaching, and may we ask for Master's name, so that we may worship and chant it daily, and be respectful at all times."

"I am the Lingbao Celestial Master Immortal True Monarch Xu Jia, with the Daoist name Tongtian. I cultivate at Sanqing Mountain and will also establish a Dao Kingdom overseas. You need not chant my name diligently; only when you are in difficulty, chant it three times, and I will naturally sense it."

"Once these Vast Sea Bright Moon Pearls are refined, you may also chant it in this way, and I will come to take them."
