Chapter 12: When I Speak, the Law Obeys; I Am the God of Deception!

~7 min read 1,325 words

If it were a normal game, he would die when the third shot is fired.

But now, he can lose without any restraint.

Yun Peipei felt a choke in her chest, inhaled deeply, and calmly said, "It's just luck; I didn't die when I fired the First Place shot."

"I know you don't believe it, so let me say it again," Su Yang said with a slight smile.

A new round begins, and this time the eye is an A 'ace'!

Su Yang lost the previous round, and this round he still plays first.

He doesn't even look, and throws three cards again, "Three 'ace' cards!"

Yun Peipei still doesn't choose to open, but draws one, "One 'ace'!"

"Open!" At the instant the card hits the table, Su Yang doesn't hesitate to flip the card.

The card flips, an A!

"Congratulations, I lost again." Su Yang sincerely congratulated.

"Luck won't always favor you." Yun Peipei stared intently at the revolver's cylinder.

She seemed to be trying to read something from it.

"I never need luck." Su Yang changed from his previously silent demeanor to become exceedingly composed.

This arrogance and confidence emanated from his heart, as if confirming the words he said—

"This is my home ground!"

Click!

The gunshot Yun Peipei had long awaited still didn't fire.

"See, I wasn't wrong, right?" Su Yang placed the gun back in its place.

"I don't believe it; if you have the skill, lose again!" Yun Peipei's Tooth itching with hatred.

Others treat life as precious, but he doesn't care at all.

He has been painstakingly disguising himself for so long just to survive.

After finally eliminating three players, could they let all that effort be wasted because of Su Yang's "home ground" remark?

She's not convinced, and even more unwilling!

The new round's eye is a K 'king'.

Su Yang's method remains the same, throwing three cards, "Three 'king' cards."

"Open!" This time Yun Peipei didn't choose to play a card, but flipped the card!

This move surprisingly caught Su Yang off guard; he had thought she would play it safe.

"You're still impatient after all." Su Yang chuckled inwardly.

Three cards flip: a Q, a joker, and a K.

Although there were two valid cards, Su Yang still lost.

"Don't congratulate me, fire the gun." Yun Peipei, tired of those two sentences, urged coldly.

Su Yang didn't mind her tone that was eager for his death.

He proactively picked up the revolver and fired a shot at his head.

Click!

"Sorry, I'm still alive." Su Yang cast an apologetic glance.

"You…" Yun Peipei's angry hue spread across her face, and panic rose in her heart.

If what Su Yang said were true, that he could change the rules, wouldn't she be certain to die?

This shitty Death Game, how can we even play it?

"If you've got the guts, try again!" Yun Peipei shouted hysterically.

"As you wish."

In the new round, Su Yang unsurprisingly lost the game.

However, the gunshot still didn't fire.

This is the fourth shot.

Another round ends, and Su Yang still fails.

The gunshot didn't fire; this is the fifth shot.

"You should believe now, right?" Su Yang spread his hands, his chin slightly raised.

Yun Peipei's angry color on her face had reached an uncontrollable level.

But in the blink of an eye it disappeared, replaced by a smile of a plot's success.

"You've fallen into the trap; now if you lose once more, you will surely die."

Su Yang's complexion suddenly turned extremely ugly, "You actually provoked me?"

"Young people really are young; once they have a trick they can't help showing off. I really don't know whether to call you clever or stupid." Yun Peipei giggled continuously.

"I haven't lost yet? Opening champagne halfway might be a bit early, right?" Su Yang's face was full of frustration.

"Your earlier display of cleverness doesn't match now at all; pride goes before a fall. Haven't you heard that saying?" Yun Peipei suddenly wore a look of assured victory.

"Don't forget, my Magic Innate Talent hasn't been used yet." Su Yang's nervous expression softened.

"Is that so? Then I look forward to your performance." Yun Peipei said coolly.

A new round begins, this round's eye is a K 'king'.

Su Yang's former composure vanished; he picked up his hand cards and examined them carefully, expression unchanged.

Two K's, one joker, two A's.

Bang!

A snap of the finger, one A became K.

Now, he holds four valid cards in his hand!

"Couldn't help but activate your ability? So you're afraid of death," Yun Peipei seemed to see through Su Yang's mind.

"Aren't you afraid?" Su Yang flicked out two cards, "Two Kings!"

Yun Peipei's soft, white fingertips brushed the card faces, drew one out, and said with a smile, "I am certainly afraid too, but the one who dies won't be me."

"One King."

"To seal the verdict now would be premature," Su Yang drew a card, and just as he was about to play it, a flash of blue light suddenly enveloped him.

Looking up, he saw Yun Peipei's eyes instantly turn a deep blue.

At the same time, Su Yang felt his hands lose control, as if numbed, completely unable to perceive!

"Now?" Yun Peipei said.

"You've been acting this long? Just for this moment?" Su Yang stared as his hand drew the only invalid card from his hand and tossed it onto the table.

"You enjoy watching others' helpless rage, and playing along with you, how about that?" The blue light in Yun Peipei's eyes vanished, and she continued, "Fulfilling a dying person's wish is perhaps the utmost benevolence, right?"

"Is that all?" Su Yang snorted.

"Even at the brink of death you still put on airs; I only need to reveal the card, you should know your outcome," Yun Peipei saw him still being hard‑mouthed, shook her head in disappointment.

"I thought your Deception went far beyond this, but it turns out it's merely simple Control over a player's limbs," Su Yang's eyes also showed disappointment.

"What does that mean?" A foreboding premonition suddenly arose in Yun Peipei's mind.

"Your Deception should let a player's limbs obey commands, yet limbs clearly lack consciousness; how did you make the hand precisely draw an invalid card?" Su Yang voiced his confusion.

"If you want a clear death, I'll tell you," Yun Peipei gave an example, "Similar to Alzheimer's, when a person lacks memory, they still act subconsciously according to habitual behavior."

"Similarly, although an arm lacks self‑awareness, the person will certainly reject drawing an invalid card in the game."

"I only need to go opposite to the subconscious, and I can precisely draw the invalid card."

"I see," Su Yang suddenly laughed, "But what if I have no invalid card?"

"I was also gambling, and luckily I guessed right," Yun Peipei lifted her Brain, her delicate features shining under the light.

She smiled.

She laughed heartily.

After spending so much effort, she finally saw the dawn of victory.

"You're half right and half wrong," Su Yang shook his head, "Actually I played a K."

【Deception Innate Talent activation successful, invalid card 'ace' changed to valid card 'King'】

"How could that be? Human intuition doesn't deceive," Yun Peipei snorted, and immediately flipped the card Su Yang had just played.

The card face just turned, and Yun Peipei instantly felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave.

"Is it really a K?" Yun Peipei, as if struck by lightning, jerked her head up, meeting Su Yang's smiling gaze.

"Impossible, you already activated your Magic Innate Talent, so where did this K come from?" Yun Peipei, who prided herself on controlling the whole situation, found an uncontrollable turn!

"Actually, Magic isn't my Innate Talent at all," Su Yang shook his head, speaking slowly:

"Let me formally introduce: my true Innate Talent is Deception, in my arena—"

"I am Divine!"
