Chapter 417: Obviously Right! This Must Be Gold!
When those words were spoken, the scene fell into silence for a moment.
The Hall Master of Shadow Hall gave no answer, but his gaze did not avert.
The two locked eyes like that, stalemating at that point.
Su Kang's death is the highest‑level secret of Shadow Hall, and also a Taboo of the Six Harmonies Association.
If an outsider mentioned it, he would kill them without hesitation.
The one asking the question is Su Yang; he is not only the current Gang Leader, but also Su Kang's sole bloodline.
Seeing him linger in silence, Su Yang said with interest, "What? Is the answer hard to speak? Or can you not answer?"
Shadow asked back, "What is the significance of the Gang Leader asking this?"
I am his son; clarifying the reason is natural and proper, what is wrong with that?
Shadow was silent for a while, then said, "He was killed by my own hand."
He emphasized the word "own hand" heavily.
Su Yang, however, sensed a hint in his tone, and his curiosity deepened: "Is that so? Then what weapon did you use to kill?"
"Knife, staff, sword… or bare hands?"
"Knife." Shadow blurted out.
"But I see no knife wounds on my father's corpse; I suggest you think carefully before answering," Su Yang said with a half‑smile.
"Shadow Hall values efficiency in killing; as long as the goal is met, any means are acceptable. I don't recall the exact method used," Shadow explained.
"I see…" Su Yang nodded slightly and continued, "Then the final question: why did my father commit suicide?"
"Imagine, he had the ability to summon the Warlord Leader alone; that proves he could stay out of the matter, and even if the situation were exposed, he would have leeway."
"Why resort to suicide to create a false impression? Isn't that overkill?"
Shadow replied, "I don't know; I only execute orders."
Su Yang narrowed his eyes, then relaxed, "Sorry for taking your time. I have no more questions; please return."
Shadow did not hesitate; he opened the window and leapt out.
The study fell silent again; Su Yang tapped the table lightly with his finger and let out a sudden laugh.
"Truly interesting…"
"Bang!"
The study door swung open, and Lin Yang entered pushing a small cart loaded with toiletries and breakfast.
He stepped in and saw Su Yang grinning like a wooden dummy at the table, and immediately began curiously scanning the surroundings.
Finding no one, he asked oddly, "What are you laughing at?"
"I just thought of something amusing," Su Yang said.
"What's amusing? Share it with me."
Su Yang gave him a meaningful look and laid out the whole story of the Gold Mine and Su Kang's death.
Hearing such explosive news, Lin Yang's lingering drowsiness vanished.
His eyes widened enormously.
"We have a Gold Mine beneath our feet?"
"Su Kang committed suicide?"
"The Six Harmonies Association actually has a sixth hall branch?!"
Su Yang frowned and said irritably, "Lower your voice; do you want the whole street to hear?"
Lin Yang covered his mouth, hurried over and whispered, "Why are you telling me this now when it's such a big matter?"
"I just found out myself," Su Yang shrugged.
Lin Yang suddenly realized, "So yesterday, under the pretext of something, you actually went to the Shadow Hall branch?"
"To be precise, it was the bookstore," Su Yang corrected.
"Hiss… So Luo San was actually killed by them?"
"Smart!"
"So you had already calculated everything?" Lin Yang looked at him, shocked.
"I'm no Divine being; where would such miraculous calculations come from?" Su Yang shook his head.
Lin Yang couldn't digest the crazy content for a while; his brain seemed to crash and stopped working.
After a while, he suddenly said, "No, there's a problem…"
"You felt it too?" Su Yang asked.
"According to you, Su Kang truly had such resolve; why not keep the secret in his gut, but instead give a chance for it to 'leak' out?"
"Also, how did he manage to get the Warlord Leader to attend alone? Given his temperament, even if he went alone, there would surely be a bodyguard hidden." Lin Yang wondered.
Not only he thought so, this was also Su Yang's doubt.
"Instead of wild speculation, we should actively seek the truth," Su Yang said.
"How?"
"Lift the floorboards on the first floor; perhaps the answer lies there."
As soon as the words fell, a roar of engines came from below.
Su Yang went to the window and glanced, a slight curl at his mouth: "Here it comes."
Two broad‑shouldered, stout men descended from the vehicle; they pulled shovels and picks from the trunk and entered through the door.
When Zhao Xian arrived with his men on the first floor, he saw Su Yang and Lin Yang standing shoulder‑to‑shoulder at the marked spot, waiting.
"Gang Leader, the people you requested have arrived."
Zhao Xian introduced, "Xiao Wu, Ah Qiu; they both have extensive civil engineering experience."
"Hello, boss!" the two said in unison.
Su Yang sized up the two's figures, nodded satisfactorily: "Have you had breakfast?"
"We ate before coming."
"Alright, let's start working!"
After speaking, Xiao Wu picked up a hoe, lifted a corner at the edge of the marked wooden board, and immediately pulled it out with force!
Opened a gap, and the rest became much simpler.
The two together pried open all ten wooden boards in just three quick strokes.
Beneath the wooden board was a layer of concrete; under Su Yang's direction, the two began chiseling!
During the waiting interval, Su Yang not only ate the breakfast made by Feng Yan at a leisurely pace, but also took a sip of coffee.
"Boom!"
Soon, with a great roar, they finally chiseled open a large hole.
Lin Yang hurriedly fetched a Flashlight and shone it inside; when he saw the objects clearly, his Pupil narrowed slightly:
"Su Yang, there's really a mine tunnel in here!"
Su Yang was not surprised, lifted his chin, and said, "Continue."
They hadn't expected results in less than ten minutes, so their motivation grew even stronger.
When they completely chiseled through the two-meter-diameter concrete, the true face of the mine tunnel finally emerged.
Zhao Xian stared at the bottomless cavern, astonished, "This…"
He never imagined that beneath the house he personally helped build there was another hidden world!
Moreover, judging by the depth, it could not have been accomplished in a single day or night.
Su Yang was not in a hurry to descend; he would make plans after the oxygen level inside was sufficient.
During the waiting interval, he had Zhao Xian purchase a fifty-meter-long Rope, tying one end to a pillar and the other ends to Su Yang's and Lin Yang's Waists respectively.
"The two of us will go down to see; if the Rope jerks, pull us up immediately," Su Yang instructed.
Zhao Xian nodded, "Stay safe."
Su Yang, holding a Flashlight, slid down along the edge of the mine tunnel slowly, but decisively.
Lin Yang followed closely, watching Su Yang's movements intently while shining his Flashlight onto the cavern wall.
"How much manpower does it take to dig a hole this big?" he couldn't help exclaiming.
"I guess it's the workers who participated leaking out; for a project this large, paper ultimately can't contain fire," Su Yang speculated.
After descending ten meters, Su Yang shone the Flashlight at his feet but saw no bottom.
Just as he was about to continue sliding, a sudden shout came from above,
"Su Yang, look, is that gold over there?"
Following the Flashlight beam, he saw the opposite wall of the cave reflecting a dazzling Golden Light.
Su Yang felt a stir in his heart and fixed his gaze.
Within the gray-white rock, a streak of gold lay hidden; though a small proportion, it was especially conspicuous.
Su Yang's heartbeat quickened involuntarily, "It can't be wrong…"
"This must be gold!"
