Chapter 47: Chopping Seals! Gunfire in the Snow!
Su Yang had imagined many scenarios, but he never expected a seal to appear here.
The rough hide and thick layer of fat allow this creature to live comfortably in the cold world.
It moves forward inch by inch, relying on its forelimbs and torso undulation, like a big worm, rather cute.
The girl has no resistance to this cute creature; Tian Yi's eyes flash with compassion, "Should we kill it?"
"Hmm, you saw it too; in a place like this, aside from neutral creatures, there is no other food source," Wei Liang nods.
"But…" Tian Yi looks at the iron rod in her hand, then at the plump seal, hesitant to speak.
"I'll help you." Wei Liang takes off his backpack, holds a scythe, and slowly feels his way forward.
"Be careful," Tian Yi reminds.
Without a word, Wei Liang lowers his body, inching closer.
The seal, unaware of the danger, continues to lie there prettily.
When the distance shrinks to five meters, the seal senses a strange scent and opens its eyes.
Wei Liang suddenly stops, staring motionlessly at the seal.
Time seems to freeze; neither moves, they stare at each other blankly.
Tian Yi's heart rises to her throat, fearing the seal will slip into the sea and escape.
After a moment, the seal yawns and turns away as if ignoring everything.
"Hoo—" Wei Liang silently exhales in relief.
He has killed chickens, ducks, and even helped the village slaughter pigs during the New Year.
Facing a seal with little attack power, he feels nervous.
Perhaps for psychological reasons, he cannot tell whether this is a game or reality.
"Come on!" Tian Yi shouts, holding back her voice.
Wei Liang takes a deep breath, gripping the scythe as he advances step by step.
Quickly, when only two meters separate them, Wei Liang crouches, gathers strength, and bursts forward!
He raises the scythe high and swings forcefully at the seal's head!
"Puff—"
At the critical moment, the seal suddenly turns its head; the scythe strikes its neck but is blocked by thick fat.
No matter how hard Wei Liang pushes, the scythe cannot advance an inch.
The intense pain drives the seal into a frenzy, shouting and wildly twisting its body toward the sea.
Blood gushes, staining the snow red, and a mournful roar echoes all around.
"Not good!" Wei Liang's pupils suddenly contract; as the seal struggles, his legs uncontrollably slide forward.
He overestimated his own strength and underestimated the seal's will to survive.
A two-hundred‑jin seal is not something an ordinary adult can contend with.
Wei Liang's body is flung outward, crashing heavily onto the ground with a muffled grunt.
"Watch out!" Tian Yi exclaims.
A cold glint flashes across Wei Liang's grim face; he scrambles up, grips the scythe handle again, and pulls hard.
"Tear!"
The seal's thick skin is ripped open, revealing a large gash that exposes yellow fat.
The seal struggles even harder, whipping its tail sharply and striking his chest.
Wei Liang lets out a muffled grunt, falls to the ground, his cold‑numbed body feeling anesthetized and unable to act.
"It's trying to escape!" Tian Yi says, watching the seal only a few meters from the ocean.
"Damn it." Wei Liang scrambles up and gives chase.
But he has already missed the chance and can only watch it flee helplessly.
At that moment, a figure darts forward at blinding speed, a flash of cold light!
"Chhh!"
The sharp axe strikes directly at the wound made by the scythe, cleaving the spine cleanly.
Deprived of support, the seal roars and struggles, yet its body cannot move an inch.
"Su Yang?!" Tian Yi sees the newcomer, hope flashing in her eyes.
She did not expect him to appear at this moment.
Wei Liang is startled at first, then quickly shouts, "Cut off its head!"
Su Yang pulls the axe out, hacking several times with force; warm fresh blood splatters over him, and he cares not, his eyes blazing with bloodlust.
The seal's struggling weakens, and with a crisp crack, the massive head finally hits the ground.
"What a tough one." Su Yang feels his hands go numb; after the intense effort, his arm muscles ache.
This is his first close‑quarters fight with a creature; before, he relied solely on firearms for killing.
As the axe descends, he can feel the creature's twitching, a very odd sensation.
He can't say it's nauseating, but he feels a bit scared.
He puts himself in the seal's place, imagining being dismembered like this.
Breathing heavily, Su Yang pulls the scythe out and hands it to Wei Liang, "Are you uninjured?"
"It's fine, that beast has serious strength." Wei Liang rubs his chest, gritting his teeth.
If his clothing hadn't been thick enough, this blow could have shattered his sternum.
Tian Yi rushes over to check on them, worry written in her eyes, "Should we return to the boat first?"
"Just a minor wound, no need to waste time." Wei Liang waves his hand.
Tian Yi saw his attitude was resolute and stopped persisting, looked at Su Yang and said, "Luckily you're nearby, otherwise we wouldn't have dinner today."
"Of course, we're a team, aren't we?" Su Yang grinned.
How familiar that sentence is? Wei Liang had just said it not long ago.
Tian Yi stared at the handsome face illuminated by sunlight and was startled.
"Dinner's on you two; I'll go ahead to gather supplies." Su Yang used blood to wipe the bloodstain off his axe, then attached it to his waist.
"Be careful, I feel neutral creatures might not be as easy to deal with as imagined," Wei Liang Reminder.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing," Su Yang nodded.
After he walked away, Tian Yi couldn't help speaking, "Su Yang has a good heart; he's definitely on our side."
Wei Liang gave no comment, and in his mind recalled the ruthless scene when he killed a seal.
That definitely wasn't something a Normal Difficulty person should have.
Expressions may deceive, but the gaze cannot be faked.
"He has killed many people," Wei Liang suddenly said.
"Ah?" Tian Yi was stunned for a moment, didn't react.
"Never mind, let's take the meat," Wei Liang said.
Su Yang walked another over Five Hundred meters, finally arriving at the second red supply zone.
Here stood two tents, surrounded by supply crates.
"Fortune Tile!" Su Yang couldn't help rubbing his hands.
He approached the nearest supply crate, grabbed the edge with both hands and flipped it forcefully.
The crate opened straight, revealing its contents.
Three pieces of scrap iron, three lead ingots, and a uniquely shaped key.
"What is this thing?" Su Yang packed the scrap iron and lead ingots into his backpack, and examined the key in his hand.
Unlike common lock-picking keys, this one on his hand seemed like the tip of a gear, able to extend and retract freely.
"Open box..." Su Yang recalled the map showing a safe box icon for the supply zone.
He guessed this kind of key was most likely used to open boxes.
While Su Yang was pondering, he was completely unaware of the approaching danger.
A two-meter-long tundra wolf crept silently, its robust muscles bursting with power, sharp teeth exposed to the air, releasing ferocity.
Suddenly, the tundra wolf lunged at Su Yang, its speed as fast as a Cannonball.
In an instant, Su Yang sensed murderous intent, his hair standing on end, and spun sharply.
A massive blood-filled mouth, reeking of rot, appeared before him, only half a meter away from his face.
"Wolf?!" Su Yang widened his eyes, instinctively raised his axe to block.
But it was already too late; the wolf's explosive power was far more terrifying than he imagined.
Just as the teeth were about to hit his cheek, a gunshot suddenly rang out!
"Bang!"
The tundra wolf let out a howl and pounced on Su Yang, leaving a fist-sized blood hole at the back of his head.
Because of inertia, Su Yang was knocked to the ground, the heavy wolf carcass pressing him so he could barely breathe.
"Gunslinger?" Su Yang's heart hammered wildly.
He was close, just a hair's breadth away from being bitten.
But if that wolf hadn't been behind him, would the shooter's Bullet have struck his own Brain?
At that moment, a silhouette appeared before Su Yang; he saw the figure drag the wolf corpse away, silently heading toward the tent.
Su Yang paused a moment, then climbed up and looked, discovering the newcomer was Liu Wei Cheng!
"Is he trying to save me?"
"Or is he trying to kill me?"
