Chapter 625: The Land Bestowed by Heaven (1)

~7 min read 1,317 words

The Soldiers whom Yinyang had called to a halt then carefully observed their surroundings; indeed, weeds were growing everywhere, and there was not a trace of smoke or fire. If people were living there, fire would certainly be indispensable, but since there was none, it meant there was a high probability that no one was living there.

After confirming this point, even though there were only a few of them, their courage grew, and they began to move forward at a faster pace. Meanwhile, Zhu, who was far away, watched with great anxiety, fearing that a group of people from another tribe might suddenly rush out.

Zhu and the others slowly came from the woods to the side of that row of strange wooden piles. Only after they walked closer did they discover that this was actually a place where people could live, and it was much better than ordinary wooden sheds, by who knows how much.

They held their Weapons horizontally in front of them, ready to attack at any moment, but there were no traces of anyone walking on the ground at all, and the wildly growing weeds actually explained everything.

The number of houses here was large, but still not enough for their entire tribe to live in. However, a special thought arose in their hearts: could this be the place where they were supposed to settle down on the third day? Otherwise, why would such a suitable place appear?

Yinyang and the others came to the front of a house. Although the wooden door was tightly shut and even had an Iron latch to close it securely, they could still recognize that this was the place to enter the house.

They first listened quietly; there was absolutely no sound of people. Then Yinyang boldly stepped forward and pushed the door hard, but the door only loosened slightly and did not open. He used even greater strength again, but there was still no reaction.

He had no choice but to step back, scratch his head, and ponder what was going on. Then, after observing, he felt that it must be the strange object on the door that was blocking him.

Although it already had some red on it, the moment he touched that thing, he was shocked and let out a cry. Those few Soldiers were also startled by this sound and hurriedly gripped their Weapons tight.

Yinyang raised his hand to tell them not to be nervous, and then said in an incredibly incredulous tone: "This thing, what on earth is this thing? It seems to be Bronze, but it is also a bit red. I don't recognize it either, but it is definitely a good thing."

The others also hurriedly stepped forward, wanting to see what this good thing was. Immediately after, one by one, they began to reach out and touch this strange object. The cold touch and hard texture convinced them that this was some kind of material similar to Bronze.

Afterwards, the few of them fiddled with it for a while before they understood how the latch worked. Then they successfully opened the door and entered the room. However, they still could not stop thinking about the door, curious as to why it could be so tightly connected to the wood, just like tree bark, able to rotate without falling off.

With their not-so-clever heads, the few of them figured out the working principle of the hinge, and only then did they continue to search the room.

In the room, there were basically just wooden beds temporarily made by those Artisans, placed one by one, with some dry Grass that had already begun to stink spread on top. Other than that, nothing else could be seen.

Even though the house was built very sturdily, there were still a huge number of insects inside. When the few of them stirred the grass stalks, many mice even scurried out. However, for Yinyang and the others, this was nothing at all; what hadn't they seen in the places they used to live? As long as there were no snakes or things like that crawling in to bite people, it was fine.

Yinyang and his group delayed for a long time, which was hard on the people waiting in the distance. Every second was torture for them, especially after Yinyang and the others disappeared from sight; they could neither see anyone nor hear any sound, and they did not know what had happened to Yinyang and the others.

Zhu did not dare to rashly send anyone to look again. If Zhu and the others did not return, it meant this place was too dangerous and they had to leave, but they still had to wait a little longer.

After Yinyang and his group finished searching the first room, they originally intended to look at the remaining rooms, but Yinyang remembered clearly what they had come for, so he hurriedly called the others to a halt. He didn't even bother with the door, then trotted away, intending to tell everyone this good news.

When Yinyang and the others appeared safe and sound in Zhu's line of sight, Zhu could not help but let out a long sigh of relief. This meant there should be no danger below, and it might even be a place suitable for their tribe to settle down.

Zhu and the others trotted all the way to Zhu. The excitement was overflowing on their faces. Even though they were panting heavily from the run, they did not delay in the slightest and said loudly to Zhu: "Down there, down there are many places where people can live. They are even better than the Tents our Tribal Chief used to live in; it's like a cave made of wood. And there is something like Bronze on them. Inside, there are things made of wood—I don't know what they are for, but if people sleep on them, it will definitely be very comfortable."

Yinyang spoke excitedly about what he had seen and heard, but he did not mention the point Zhu cared about most, so Zhu asked: "Are there any other people? Such a good place must belong to some other large tribe, right?"

Yinyang shook his head repeatedly: "No one, not a single person. It seems they don't want it anymore. Just looking at the surrounding environment, it seems that no one has been here for at least half a Winter and Summer; otherwise, the Grass wouldn't have grown so long."

But Zhu was still a little worried: "Such a good place to live, and there is Bronze, that means this is a very, very strong tribe, or even a Phylum. I'm afraid we've entered someone else's territory; it's still too dangerous."

Yinyang, however, shook his head repeatedly without a care: "That's not it. If you go down and see it with your own eyes, you'll know. Although the living quarters are very good, there are just too few of them. A wooden cave like that, even if it could hold twenty people, it couldn't hold two thousand. So, even if their entire tribe were here, with so many of our tribesmen and so many Soldiers, what is there to be afraid of?" After saying this, Yinyang also heroically patted his own chest.

Yinyang reported to Zhu, while the others described it to the tribesmen. Everyone didn't think too much; they just felt that they could move into a very good place. This was what their Tribal Chief had told them: on the third day, they would be able to find a land where their tribe could live and survive, not only to get through this Winter but also to allow them to survive forever.

Based on the current description, this was definitely the most suitable place, almost as if it were a place arranged for them by the gods of Heaven.
