Chapter 90: Tribal Chief Baoxi
However, Qi was not particularly excited; he merely opened his eyes, remaining reclined as he waited for them to present their treasure.
Changhe turned his head and gave Baoxi a wink. Baoxi walked forward a few steps to a position suitable for a dash. Changhe also walked to Qi's side empty-handed, though in reality, he was prepared at any moment to draw the Dajian from his collar and finish Qi off with a strike.
The other elders had not received prior notice; they only knew they were going to discuss the Baifeng Tribe matter and had no idea about the business of presenting a knife. Thus, they were currently bewildered, not knowing what Baoxi and the others were planning to do.
Baoxi drew that small silver knife from his sleeve and extended it to a spot beside Qi where the sunlight could reach it. With a gentle turn, a cold light flickered. Not only Qi, but Changhe, standing to the side, also gulped, especially after having witnessed the hardness and sharpness of this knife.
Qi felt that his own golden Bronze Sword could do the same, and it was even larger. What could such a small knife do? Aside from the color being a bit special, it was of little use.
Baoxi took a tree branch on the spot and whittled it with the Iron Dagger to demonstrate its sharpness. Only then did Qi feel that this knife was indeed somewhat different.
Then Baoxi asked if he could use his brother's Bronze Sword; he would use this knife to hack at the Bronze Sword to see which one would sustain damage.
Qi did not even think about it and directly let the beauty on his right take the sword and hand it to Baoxi. Changhe thought to himself on the side that it was perfect; this way, Qi would not even have a Weapon, so what could he use to fight them?
Taking the Bronze Sword, Baoxi raised the Iron Dagger and hacked down fiercely. The dagger became lodged directly in the Bronze Sword. When he shook it twice and lifted the dagger, there was a deep groove on the Bronze Sword, while the Iron Dagger had sustained no damage.
Only then did Qi see the extraordinary nature of this dagger, so he pushed the two beauties on his left and right aside and told Baoxi to hurry up and bring the knife over; he wanted to take a close look.
Baoxi nodded in agreement while giving Changhe a subtle look. Baoxi was only five steps away from Qi, who was still lying down and had not sat up at all.
Throwing the Bronze Sword onto the ground, Baoxi held the dagger and took one step, two steps, three steps forward, then suddenly took a large stride forward and thrust the dagger in his hand directly at Qi's throat.
Qi sensed the danger and was about to scramble up, but realized it was too late. Baoxi's dagger had already thrust over, and he could only lie there and use one hand to forcefully catch the dagger that Baoxi was thrusting with both hands.
The strength of Qi's one hand was greater than Baoxi's. The dagger Baoxi held could not advance even a fraction. Both sides held on stubbornly. The few elders who had originally been watching the spectacle were completely helpless when they saw this situation. The scene before them made them somewhat panicked, and they were at a loss for what to do.
Qi reached out his other hand to feel for his sword, but ended up grasping at air. Only then did he remember that his sword had been thrown on the ground by Baifeng. Thus, he simply gripped Baoxi's wrists with both hands, wanting to lift him straight up.
Baoxi felt that he was in trouble, so he shouted loudly for Changhe to help. Only then did Changhe hurriedly take his own Bronze Dagger from his collar and stab it toward Qi's waist.
The Bronze Dagger pierced through the Rhinoceros Leather Armor and into Qi's body. Feeling the pain, Qi's hands instantly lost their strength. Seizing this opportunity, Baoxi broke free from Qi's control and slashed the knife toward Qi's neck.
Then, a line of blood flew up, growing thicker as it flew. Qi could no longer make a sound, and he did not know whether to cover his neck or his waist. In any case, he did not struggle for long before he collapsed onto his bed, never to rise again.
The few elders knew that something bad had happened, but they dared not leave. Now that Qi was dead, the Tribal Chief would certainly have to be chosen from the two of them, and at that time, they as elders would also have the power to choose.
Seeing that Qi was thoroughly dead, Changhe pounced directly on the two beauties who had been watching the whole time but showed no fear, pulling them into his arms and kneading them, as if his own tribe had no women.
Baoxi wiped his dagger and turned his head to look at the few elders behind him. Those men quickly turned their heads away. Changhe, however, was completely unaware of the approaching danger and instead laughed loudly, saying to Baoxi, "Now our goal is achieved. I, Changhe, am now going to be the Tribal Chief of the Suiren Clan. The grain and beauties I promised you before will not be one less. Hahaha!"
"However, now I think that knife should be used by the Tribal Chief. You are not qualified to use it yet. Bring it over to me; I will give you some grain as a reward."
Baoxi said "alright" indifferently, then walked forward with the knife. While Changhe was turning his head to look at his beauties, Baoxi quickly stabbed the knife into his abdomen.
Changhe only felt a sharp pain and a bloating sensation in his stomach. When he looked, he discovered that the dagger had already been fully submerged into his stomach. He looked at him in disbelief: "Baoxi! You actually dare to kill me? Have you forgotten the oath you made back then? You have broken your oath; are you not afraid that the gods will punish you?"
Baoxi gave a sinister laugh: "I am a god myself. If I break an oath, must I punish myself?"
As he spoke, the knife in his hand began to slash everywhere. Changhe's abdomen was soon slashed into a mess, and the contents fell to the ground in pieces. Changhe's face turned pale, sweat poured down like rain, and he pointed a finger at Baoxi before he, too, like Qi, collapsed to the ground, never to wake again.
Those two beauties finally felt fear and began to weep, but they still did not move from their spots, waiting for the newest winner, Baoxi, to come and enjoy them.
Baoxi did not touch the two women but turned his head to look at the few elders. Although those men were already old, if Baoxi really moved against them, they certainly would not sit and wait for death. Just by their numbers alone, Baoxi would have no chance of winning even with a weapon.
However, Baoxi had no intention of killing them. They had no ambition and could still control their own tribes; they could be said to be very good assets for him.
Kicking Qi's corpse aside, Baoxi shouted loudly: "My elder brother was incompetent, and the Tribal Chief of the He Tribe, Changhe, was greedy for power and murdered Qi. I have avenged my brother and killed Changhe."
"I, Baoxi, the son of the Suiren Clan from my previous life, now wish to be the Tribal Chief of the Suiren Clan. Who among you supports this, and who opposes it?"
The few elders looked at each other, glancing back and forth, nodding or shaking their heads. However, before Baoxi asked a second time, they said in unison that Baoxi was the most suitable person to be the new Tribal Chief of the Suiren Clan.
Baoxi was very satisfied with their attitude, so he demanded that they follow him outside to announce this news to all the tribesmen; from now on, he would be the new Tribal Chief of the Suiren Clan.
As for the He Tribe, since their Tribal Chief was dead, they would return to the Suiren Clan. The name "He Tribe" could disappear.
As for his own older and younger brothers, there was no need for them to leave the tribe to set up their own Phylum. He felt that he, as Tribal Chief, could afford to support them, so they should stay behind. As for whether they would suddenly die of a violent death later, that was unknown.
