Chapter 130: Busa Tan, Kill It
Su Jin sneaked out quietly, but before she even reached the outer courtyards, a male instructor grabbed her like plucking up a chick.
“Speak! Which class are you from? If you don’t tell me, I’ll find your instructor and have her tell your parents to give you a double beating.”
Su Jin looked at him with a pitiful expression.
The male instructor felt no sympathy for her.
Su Jin had no choice but to call for her instructor, Liu Shi.
Liu Shi glared at Su Jin, who crouched on the ground, curled into a tiny, pitiful ball.
Then he politely thanked the instructor for catching the misbehaving young student.
“The outer courtyards haven’t been fully cleared yet. Why are you, a little brat, running out there? If your instructor hadn’t come to get you, I’d have made you stand in the corner all morning,” the male instructor said.
At this, Su Jin’s face immediately fell.
This was going to be miserable.
“Enough with the pathetic act. Go with your instructor. Don’t come near here for the next few days.”
The male instructor waved them off.
After all, it wasn’t anything serious.
Once they left him, Liu Shi snapped: “We were attacked last night. Why are you running out here first thing in the morning?”
Su Jin’s face twisted in distress. “Liu Shi, I heard five third-year students died guarding the outer courtyards last night, and seventy more were injured. My eldest niece, Su Hua, is in the third-year class.”
“I just wanted to check if she was hurt—or if she was one of the five who died.”
Liu Shi’s expression paused, then he said: “Alright, I understand. Go back. I’ll find out for you.”
“By the way, until the mission ends, don’t go near the outer courtyards. Understood?”
“What happened in the outer courtyards? Why are we forbidden to go there?” Su Jin asked suspiciously.
“Just obey orders. Now go back. I’ll ask about your eldest niece.” Liu Shi said.
Su Jin: “...”
Su Jin had barely returned to the large room her squad was assigned to when Liu Shi arrived again.
“Your eldest niece is fine—uninjured, not dead, even earned a minor merit. Her instructor holds her in high regard. Says your niece has a firm Dao heart and exceptional resilience,” Liu Shi said upon entering.
Su Jin immediately smiled.
Good. Later, I’ll find time to visit my sister-in-law and Su Xiaohe.
“Now that you know your niece’s condition, don’t wander off again. If you get caught once more, I’ll have to punish you.”
Su Jin jumped at these words.
She’d been planning to sneak out again!
“Liu Shi, my sister-in-law and my second niece are nearby too. Could you go check on them for me? That way I won’t get caught sneaking out to see them!”
“You really know how to give me work!” Liu Shi exploded.
Su Jin: “I didn’t know my sister-in-law and niece were both nearby.”
“Shut up. I’ll go check on them again,” Liu Shi muttered, rolling his eyes before leaving.
Su Wuji and Su Cheng burst into laughter, clutching their stomachs.
“Su Jin, you’ve worn out Liu Shi’s legs.”
“No, don’t slander me,” Su Jin firmly denied. “I’m just a child. I only want to know if my relatives nearby are safe. What’s wrong with that?”
Hahaha.
Su Wuji and Su Cheng kept laughing.
Gu Mama and the others were also amused.
Soon, Liu Shi returned again. “Your sister-in-law Liu Yunniang and your little niece Su Xiaohe are safe. Last night, one of their caretakers went out to relieve herself and was bitten by a venomous snake.”
“Your sister-in-law told me to warn you: be careful, don’t be careless or you’ll get ambushed.”
“Understood. I’ll be extremely cautious,” Su Jin said immediately.
“Then I’m off.”
“Goodbye, Liu Shi,” the three children said in unison.
Liu Shi nodded approvingly and turned to leave.
That day passed quietly; there was no surprise attack at night. By the next morning, they would complete their mission and leave.
So the students grew much more relaxed.
If the instructors hadn’t been watching so tightly, the “roaming patrol” might have started again.
Finally, in the afternoon, Gu Mama was called away to a meeting.
She returned only when night fell, her limbs stiff and unyielding.
“Ugh, that supervisor talks too much—three hours straight. My whole body’s gone stiff,” Gu Mama said with a faint smile.
Su Jin watched her slightly stiff smile and instinctively moved closer.
Gu Mama glanced at Su Jin, smiled back, but her lips twitched unnaturally.
She stepped toward Su Jin—but halfway there, she seemed suddenly drawn to something.
Then her hands reached out toward a plump, pale infant only three months old.
The baby lay in a cradle nearby.
“Gu Mama, I need to talk to you,” Su Jin cried, seeing something was wrong, and rushed forward.
Gu Mama remained oblivious, continuing to reach for the child.
Her hands closed around the infant—when suddenly, a flesh-hole appeared on her forehead.
From the hole, a white shadow shot out at blinding speed, striking the infant’s forehead.
The scene was horrifyingly familiar. “Busa Tan, kill it,” Su Jin silently chanted. In that instant, the thin golden bracelet on her wrist shot back a golden flash.
Meanwhile, the bizarre behavior of Gu Mama nearly terrified Su Wuji and Su Cheng into paralysis—but they reacted in time and rushed toward her.
The white shadow moved with terrifying speed; its front end had already opened its jaws, ready to bite the infant’s forehead.
Suddenly—a flash of gold.
A one-inch-long worm, split cleanly in two, plopped onto the infant’s face.
Hehehehehe…
The infant giggled foolishly.
And reached out with tiny, soft fingers, trying to grab the thing on its face.
Su Jin rushed over and snatched the severed worm.
Immediately after, Gu Mama collapsed with a thud—lifeless.
“Aaaah!” The other three caretakers could no longer bear the horror and screamed.
Their screams instantly terrified many children in the large room.
“Shut up. Keep caring for the children,” Su Wuji ordered coldly.
Huhuhuh…
The three caretakers regained their composure under Su Wuji’s cold command and began soothing the other crying children.
“What happened?” Su Wuji and Su Cheng rushed over, urgently asking.
“Quickly contact Liu Shi. Gu Mama went to the meeting and got parasitized. As soon as she returned, she went straight for the baby’s head. These worms must be drawn to the infant’s brain,” Su Jin opened her palm, showing them the worm’s appearance.
Pale and soft, like a caterpillar.
