Chapter 78: Su Huchen Visits
Who believes that crap is an idiot!
Su Huchen frowned and twitched his mouth.
The ancient monsters of the Wu Clan, like the Nascent Soul cultivators of the sect, all insist on playing out the dead Great Wu.
Whoever believes it is doomed!
“You mean, just then, a Xuechi Luo happened to pass by and casually ate these little things?” Su Huchen said.
Su Hanlin twitched his mouth in silence. “I mean, a Great Wu happened to pass by, and his Xuechi Luo, being greedy, sucked them up with one breath.”
“Cough, cough—there really is such a possibility.” Su Huchen rested his chin, thinking. Su Hanlin’s guess had an extremely high chance of being true.
“So, do you think the mother source of these little things was the work of demonic spies, or did some evil god break the rules and sneak into our sect’s secure zone?” Su Huchen asked.
“Hard to say. I have too little information.”
“At least we need to gather more data before we can determine what actually happened.”
Su Hanlin’s mouth twisted slightly—he was an intelligence analyst, not a fortune-teller. He couldn’t just pick up random objects and divine their origins.
Of course, he didn’t envy fortune-tellers at all, because they often died from backlash after divination. They truly risked their lives to divine.
“Alright, rest for a few days. Once I’ve processed your new identity, you’ll return to work. Give them a little shock.” Su Huchen said.
Su Hanlin’s lips curled slightly upon hearing this.
Not long after Su Huchen left, An Qian came to visit him.
Although no one initially knew this female cultivator, she was a good person. When he was in mortal danger, she risked her life to save him, letting him lose only one eye—otherwise, he would have been dead.
So Su Hanlin met An Qian.
An Qian didn’t come empty-handed—she brought a gift.
“I can never repay you for saving my life. If you ever need anything, just come find me.” An Qian felt she had been granted a second chance.
And she owed this second chance entirely to Su Hanlin’s incredible combat prowess.
Su Hanlin’s combat strength far surpassed Su Yu’s.
And his survival techniques were endless!!
“By the way, I heard you like collecting ancient texts. This is a stone tablet I once picked up. It’s covered in some weird scribbles I can’t understand—I’m giving it to you. Hope it helps.”
Su Hanlin had intended to refuse, but the moment An Qian pulled out the stone tablet, he couldn’t tear his eyes away.
It was an ancient Wu-script journal.
Though small, the tablet contained a great deal—hundreds of characters worth of information.
Su Hanlin immediately became interested.
“You really mean to give it to me?”
“Yes. Thank you for saving my life.”
“Then I won’t refuse.”
“Take it.” An Qian felt relieved once he accepted the gift. A life saved must be repaid.
While An Qian visited Su Hanlin, Su Huchen left the Police Inspector’s Office and walked directly to Su Jian’s home.
Su Jian heard the knock and opened the door.
Seeing that unfamiliar yet familiar face, he nearly dropped his jaw.
“My god, you actually came back! I thought you’d die out there—I was even planning to build you a ceremonial tomb.”
“I nearly did die out there. If I had, you’d have had to build me that tomb. We agreed—we’ll be buried together. Even as ghosts, we’ll be ghost brothers.” Su Huchen said.
“Come in. Are you married?”
“No. I’m the kind who pursues the Dao—I have no intention of marrying or having children.” Su Huchen said.
“Then it’s settled. If you really die, I’ll have to build your tomb. I’ll place it right beside my reserved burial spot—so when my descendants pay respects to me, they’ll also pay respects to you.” Su Jian said.
Many Su clan cultivators marry and have children, but many also remain unmarried and childless, pursuing the Dao.
The more talented the cultivator, the more likely they are to dedicate their entire life to the Dao.
In Su Jian’s eyes, Su Huchen was clearly another lost lamb straying from the path.
But there was no point Quan —too much advice and they’d think you had it in for them!
So Su Jian simply arranged Su Huchen’s funeral plans right away.
“Fine, pick your spot. I originally thought whether I had a tomb didn’t matter—but if you pick one for me, I’ll lie down there in the end.” Su Huchen smiled.
Su Jian: Like I’m begging you to build a tomb!!?
“I heard you got married?” Su Huchen asked.
“Mm-hmm. I have two daughters. The elder is eight, struggling in the clan school. The younger is two—cough, cough—probably has no spiritual root.”
“Oh? Are you planning to send her away to be fostered?”
“No. My father had no spiritual root either—you don’t forget, right?”
“I don’t.”
“Once I confirm my little girl has no spiritual root, I’ll send her to my parents to raise.”
“Your parents really owe you. They raised the first, now they’re raising the second.” Su Huchen teased.
“What can I do? Children are debts, after all!” Su Jian didn’t think relying on his parents was a flaw—key was having parents to rely on. His parents were in excellent health and could easily live another thirty years.
By the time they passed, his little daughter would already be married and established.
Of course, he wouldn’t just leech off them. He’d prepare the best food, drink, tools, and health elixirs for them.
“By the way, I heard from Su Hanlin that you ran off alone with your sister yesterday?” Su Huchen smiled.
“Hanlin definitely wouldn’t say that—he’d say he’s sorry he couldn’t safely bring your sister home.” Su Jian chuckled, speaking with absolute certainty.
“You really know him. By the way, he was rescued by our Police Inspector’s team, but lost his left eye.”
“That’s fine—at least he’s alive.” Su Jian exhaled in relief. “What about that brat Su Yu?”
“He’s unharmed, but he seems to have broken ties with Su Hanlin.” Su Huchen said.
“Do you know why?”
“Let Su Hanlin tell you himself.” Su Huchen had no intention of gossiping. “But Hanlin agreed to return to the Intelligence Division under the Police Inspector’s Office.”
“He’s finally going back to being an intelligence analyst?” Su Jian rolled his eyes.
“You know—where you fall, you should rise again. It prevents heart demons and avoids obstacles in Foundation Establishment.” Su Huchen said.
“Are you hinting at me? I still have thirty or forty years before Foundation Establishment.” Su Jian said.
Su Huchen: “Can’t you hurry up? What’s taking you so long to reach Foundation Establishment?”
Su Jian: “I call it steady progress. What do you know?”
