Chapter 1: The Wrong-Artstyle Hack!
Konoha 37, April 1st.
Konoha Village.
Sitting on the bed, Fujinaka Genma pressed his right hand to his temple, frowning deeply.
He never imagined that as a doctor, his sudden death would be followed by an inexplicable rebirth inside the body of an anime character.
He certainly knew the character Fujinaka Genma—he was half a Hokage fan.
Future toothpick man, Fourth Hokage’s bodyguard, Konoha Special Jōnin.
And now, having died of high fever, he had taken his place.
“This is troublesome. The Hokage world is completely warped.”
His headache eased; Fujinaka Genma lowered his hand.
His current age is six—he has already passed the Ninja Academy entrance exam and is about to enroll.
According to the current timeline, within a few years the Third Shinobi World War will break out, and he will very likely be sent to the battlefield by his early teens.
Watching the anime felt Rexue , but being inside it, a deep sense of dread and unease about the future crept in unconsciously.
After several deep breaths, Fujinaka Genma calmed down, lowered his eyelids, and examined what had appeared in his mind when his consciousness first returned.
Closing his eyes, a semi-transparent screen appeared.
Fujinaka Genma stared at the icons on the screen, stunned.
“Mount & Blade…”
Fujinaka Genma was speechless.
A Mount & Blade game system appearing in the ninja world? The art style is completely off.
Wouldn’t this system suit me better if I’d been reborn as a daimyo’s son?
Or in a medieval European world, vying for dominion?
After silently grumbling, Fujinaka Genma focused his attention on the game panel.
There were four icons total.
【Character】, 【Weapons & Equipment】, 【Shop】, 【Quest System】
No recruitment or soldier management features—definitely a Yange ed, warped Hokage version of Mount & Blade.
Moreover, the first two icons glowed, while the latter two were dimmed.
Fujinaka Genma tried opening the dimmed icons but couldn’t; he searched but found no manual.
He’d have to figure it out himself.
His attention settled on the 【Character】 icon.
The screen refreshed immediately.
Character: Fujinaka Genma
Level: 0
Age: 6 years
Faction: Land of Fire, Hidden Leaf Village
Available Attribute Points: 0
Available Skill Points: 0
Attributes: Expandable
Skills: Expandable
Notes: 1. Each level-up grants one additional attribute point and one skill point.
A simple character interface.
Fujinaka Genma glanced over it, then expanded the attributes section.
Constitution: 9 (Physical fitness)
Agility: 7 (Body coordination, flexibility, reaction speed, movement speed)
Intelligence: 6 (Learning ability, comprehension, mental strength)
Charm: 7 (Personal influence, including appearance, demeanor, status)
Notes: 1. Attributes can be improved through study, training, combat, or directly by spending attribute points.
2. Each point of Charm can influence one subordinate, personal guard, or relative, or anyone of equal or lower status, gaining their approval, loyalty, or favor; provides bonus effects toward female NPCs.
Looking at his attributes, Fujinaka Genma immediately tried correlating them with his knowledge of the ninja world.
Constitution represents physical fitness, meaning it determines his future chakra capacity.
Agility affects hand seal speed, neural reflexes, and close-combat ability.
Intelligence represents learning ability, comprehension, and mental strength—it affects both future chakra capacity and the speed of jutsu cultivation.
Charm was a bit mysterious.
For building a team… and seducing women?
After brief thought, Fujinaka Genma already had a rough idea of how to improve the four attributes.
Constitution: physical conditioning, combat training.
Agility: physical conditioning, combat training, targeted flexibility drills, neural reaction training.
Intelligence: reading.
Charm: all of the above.
“Though the Mount & Blade art style clashes with the ninja world, its practical application fits surprisingly well.”
Muttering to himself, Fujinaka Genma expanded his skills section.
Talent Skill: Iron Bones Lv.1: Increases Constitution by 10% per level.
Strong Strike Lv.1: Increases damage by 10% per level.
Strong Throw Lv.1: Increases thrown weapon damage by 10% per level.
Weapon Mastery Lv.1: Raises weapon skill cap by one level per rank; accelerates weapon skill improvement through use by 10%.
Notes: 1. Talent skills are system-generated and cannot be learned through training—only improved with skill points.
2. Maximum of nine talent skills allowed.
Regular Skills: Hand-to-Hand Combat (Taijutsu) Lv.1
Ninja Tool Throwing (Shurikenjutsu) Lv.1
Chakra Control (Chakra Extraction, Chakra Manipulation) Lv.1
Shadow Clone Jutsu Lv.1
Transformation Jutsu Lv.1
Replacement Jutsu Lv.1
“Four talent skills—system-provided.”
“Talent skills can only be upgraded with skill points—so skill points are extremely precious.”
Fujinaka Genma studied his skill list, analyzing silently.
He was a civilian ninja; three generations back, only his father had been a ninja—and only a Chūnin.
But his father had died in combat last year.
The talent skills came from the system; the regular skills were inherited from his previous body’s training, begun at age four under his father’s guidance.
“According to the plot, I’ll endure the Third War, the Nine-Tails Attack, the Konoha Crush Plan, Pain’s Destruction, and the Fourth War—several deadly periods.”
Opening his eyes, Fujinaka Genma’s expression turned grim.
Of these five deadly periods, only Pain’s destruction might allow resurrection—if he died, the rest would be final.
This is even without considering the butterfly effect caused by his own presence.
“So, I must make full use of this Mount & Blade system.”
“Especially during Ninja Academy—push myself to the limit; don’t graduate early if I can help it!”
Facing this warped ninja world, Fujinaka Genma approached with utmost caution.
“I need to devise a viable training plan…”
As Fujinaka Genma was thinking, the door suddenly opened—his mother, Akie, entered carrying medicine.
“Genma, drink this and Itachi’ll be fully recovered.”
Akie’s eyes were full of tenderness, her smile gentle.
“M-Mom!”
Fujinaka Genma hurriedly rose, adjusting his mindset to avoid revealing his true self.
Fortunately, the original body’s lifelong personality—calm, composed—matched his own.
After drinking the medicine, the fever broke completely, and the headache vanished swiftly.
After lunch, Fujinaka Genma felt his body had fully recovered.
Afternoon.
After digesting, Fujinaka Genma followed his memories to the training ground behind his family’s citrus grove and began his first training session.
His urgency stemmed from two reasons:
First, the unease about the future.
Second, the desire to test the system through training.
Long-distance running, jump rope, frog jumps, push-ups, inverted sit-ups…
April 3rd, morning.
"After a period of training, I've gained a certain level of improvement."
"Level up."
As morning training just ended, Fujinaka Genma heard the pleasant notification sound from the Mount & Blade system.
This delighted him; he immediately lowered his gaze and opened the system’s character interface.
Character: Fujinaka Genma
Level: 1
Age: 6
Faction: Land of Fire, Hidden Leaf Village
Available attribute points: 1
Available skill points: 1
Attributes: Expandable
Skills: Expandable
Without hesitation, Fujinaka Genma allocated his attribute point to Constitution and his skill point to the innate skill Iron Bones, upgrading it to Level 2 Iron Bones.
Thus, after expanding the attributes:
Constitution: 13.2
Agility: 8
Intelligence: 8
Charm: 9
Over two days, Constitution rose from 9 to 10; one free attribute point was added, and the Level 2 Iron Bones innate skill increased by 20%, resulting in 13.2.
Agility increased by 1 point, from 7 to 8.
Intelligence and Charm each increased by 2 points.
This amounted to remarkable progress.
Fujinaka Genma felt the boost from the point allocation very clearly.
Rising from 10 to 13.2 was an increase of over thirty percent.
"Now I must begin school; this period is crucial—whether I can lay a solid foundation depends entirely on my cultivation during this time."
After his joy subsided, Fujinaka Genma walked home.
Today was his official first day of school.
