Chapter 107: The Stolen Mangekyo Sharingan!
Konoha.
In the Hokage’s office, listening to the Anbu’s report, Hiruzen Sarutobi lifted his head in slight surprise.
Fujinaka Genma returned with Minato?
“Is it the original?”
Hiruzen Sarutobi asked calmly.
In his mind, Fujinaka Genma was sentimental yet mindful of the bigger picture—why return now?
The Anbu ninja immediately replied: “We cannot tell, but Minato says it’s a shadow clone.”
“The purpose of this mission was to inspect Uchiha Obito’s corpse.”
Hiruzen Sarutobi frowned deeper, taking a hard drag from his pipe: “Did Minato not specify anything about Uchiha Obito’s corpse?”
The Anbu ninja said: “No.”
“I see.”
Hiruzen Sarutobi exhaled smoke and said: “Go to the Memorial Stone. When it’s done, bring Minato and Genma to me.”
“Understood!”
The Anbu ninja nodded and vanished.
Konoha’s Heroes’ Cemetery.
Before Uchiha Obito’s memorial stone, Minato looked sorrowful and sighed: “Genma, begin.”
Fujinaka Genma nodded and pressed his hands to the ground.
With a thunderous crash, the earth behind the memorial stone split open, and a coffin rose upward.
Fujinaka Genma and Minato stepped forward, raising their hands to push open the coffin lid.
Less than a month had passed since Uchiha Obito’s death, and his body had been preserved by special means—perfectly intact, with no decay.
Of course, as Orochimaru had said, Obito’s body had suffered severe damage, especially his head, which was a bloody mess—eyes unidentifiable.
Maybe they were crushed.
But.
Fujinaka Genma was no longer concerned whether Obito’s eyes had been crushed or stolen.
He was concerned with this:
Was the body in this coffin truly Uchiha Obito?
He knew well the power of White Zetsu.
White Zetsu had once impersonated Kisame—and even after being killed by the A-B team, no one noticed.
Beneath his colored contacts, the Mangekyo Sharingan activated.
Fujinaka Genma could not be certain whether the Mangekyo Sharingan could detect anything—but he had to try.
Yet clearly, when it came to perception, the Byakugan was superior—the Mangekyo Sharingan revealed no flaw.
Then Fujinaka Genma lowered his eyelids and activated Kamui Shin’i.
But again, he sensed nothing.
Fujinaka Genma frowned and said: “Master Minato, I cannot determine whether Obito’s body has been replaced.”
Minato furrowed his brow, then said: “Let me try.”
As he spoke, he lowered his eyelids; after a moment, shadowy markings appeared around his eyes.
Senjutsu!
Sage Mode!
Opening his eyes, Minato explained: “This is the senjutsu of Mount Myōboku—it greatly enhances ninjutsu and physical condition, especially perception.”
“After the war, go to Mount Myōboku and learn senjutsu, Genma.”
Then Minato began to sense.
He sensed through natural energy, then quickly released Sage Mode: “No anomalies.”
At that moment, the Anbu ninja arrived: “Lord Minato, Lord Genma—the Third Hokage requests Itachi come to his office once Itachi’re done.”
Fujinaka Genma and Minato exchanged glances and nodded together.
They reburied Uchiha Obito, then followed the Anbu ninja to the Hokage’s office.
After the Anbu ninja withdrew, Hiruzen Sarutobi cut straight to the point: “Minato, Genma—what did Itachi find?”
Fujinaka Genma and Minato exchanged glances and said: “Third Hokage, we found no sign Obito’s body was swapped—but his Sharingan was very likely stolen.”
“So it was…”
Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed: “According to Kakashi’s report, Obito went berserk after witnessing Rin kill herself in Kakashi’s hands, then charged into the mist ninja’s encirclement.”
“Obito single-handedly eliminated all the mist ninja.”
Fujinaka Genma asked: “Third Hokage, did Kakashi personally witness Obito killing the mist ninja?”
“No.”
Hiruzen Sarutobi shook his head—Kakashi had been overwhelmed by trauma and fainted.
Fujinaka Genma’s gaze darkened: “Then Obito’s Sharingan was almost certainly stolen.”
“A pair of Mangekyo Sharingan!”
“And one capable of eliminating the mist ninja in a short time!”
At this moment, he felt a growing unease.
Obito was dead—but Madara Uchiha had found a replacement, and had also stolen Obito’s Mangekyo.
Complete-body Kamui.
“Mangekyo Sharingan!”
Hiruzen Sarutobi’s expression turned grim: “Genma—how are Itachi certain?”
As Hokage, he knew secrets about the Sharingan.
He understood the terror of the Mangekyo.
Long ago, Madara Uchiha had fought Hashirama Senju and the Nine-Tails using his Mangekyo Sharingan.
“Obito awakened his Sharingan saving Rin—first, a double tomoe.”
“The second awakening came after I rescued him—evolving into three tomoe.”
“This proves Obito’s talent was exceptional.”
Fujinaka Genma’s words earned nods of agreement from both Hiruzen Sarutobi and Minato.
Fujinaka Genma continued: “Witnessing the girl he loved die at the hands of his own teammate—that trauma alone could trigger another evolution of his Sharingan.”
Hiruzen Sarutobi and Minato exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
“So it’s likely the mysterious man who tried to take Obito last time stole his Mangekyo Sharingan?”
Hiruzen Sarutobi said gravely.
Minato had reported that incident—he remembered.
“Third Hokage, I was careless—I didn’t investigate thoroughly at the time.”
Minato sighed, taking responsibility.
Hiruzen Sarutobi shook his head: “It’s not your fault. The current situation doesn’t allow us to deploy many resources for investigation.”
“The fact that someone pinpointed Obito so precisely… suggests the mist ninja’s plan may have been compromised.”
Hiruzen Sarutobi was thinking far ahead.
It couldn’t be coincidence—or someone had been watching Uchiha Obito for years, waiting passively for an opportunity.
Though this incident seemed flawless, Fujinaka Genma’s words now made the sequence feel too deliberate.
“Minato, Genma—this matter ends here.”
After a moment’s silence, Hiruzen Sarutobi said: “After the war, we’ll assign elite teams to investigate.”
“Also, do not inform the Uchiha clan yet.”
Fujinaka Genma frowned inwardly but said nothing—he had no rebuttal.
Right now, investigation was impossible—even if they tried, they’d never find Madara Uchiha.
Besides, telling the Uchiha clan now would serve no purpose—it might shake morale.
Leaving the Hokage Tower, Fujinaka Genma bid Minato farewell and returned to the frontlines against the Cloud Ninja.
But his mind was far from calm.
Fate had already changed—the future had slipped beyond the boundaries of what he knew.
Then.
What would the Nine-Tails’ rampage face now?
Thinking this, Fujinaka Genma suddenly hardened, coldly smiling: “Whoever Itachi are—come, and I’ll kill Itachi. And your eyes? They’re mine.”
