Chapter 20: Chapter Twenty: An Unexpected Jutsu!

~11 min read 2,077 words

It turns out that creating a new ninjutsu is not that simple.

Even with a clear direction.

While on mission, Fujinaka Genma couldn’t buy balloons to practice, so the development of the Rasengan progressed no better than when he was developing the Chidori.

But.

Fujinaka Genma wasn’t training Lei Dun solely for the Rasengan Shuriken.

The chakra nature transformation of Lei Dun is cutting—he originally intended to enhance weapons with Lei Dun’s power.

Lei Dun enhances speed and reaction, while Lei Dun enhances cutting ability.

This was undoubtedly a perfect idea, but implementing it proved extremely difficult.

It was equivalent to casting two jutsu simultaneously.

Temporary camp.

Fujinaka Genma opened his eyes, frowned, and sighed: “Still not working!”

“Casting two different jutsu at once—especially ones that counter each other—is indeed incredibly hard!”

Kakashi, training Lei Dun nearby, suddenly turned and asked: “Why must Itachi use Lei Dun to enhance weapons?”

“Lei Dun’s cutting power isn’t weaker than Lei Dun’s—I’ve heard the Cloud Ninja have a Lei Blade with extreme cutting force!”

This remark struck like lightning, jolting Fujinaka Genma out of his self-absorbed thoughts.

He leapt up in excitement and laughed: “Of course! I forgot!”

The Lei Blade!

The high-frequency Lei Blade!

How could I have forgotten this?

Fujinaka Genma felt like slapping himself—he’d forgotten knowledge from his past life.

“I’ve only been in this world for less than three years, yet I already feel myself being assimilated.”

Fujinaka Genma suddenly became alert.

This assimilation was subtle, creeping into his thinking patterns without notice.

“First, develop the high-frequency Lei Blade!”

Fujinaka Genma temporarily abandoned the idea of combining Lei Dun and Lei Dun, and thanked Kakashi.

“Kakashi, thank Itachi for the reminder—I’ve found my training direction.”

Kakashi blinked in surprise. Did Itachi just come up with something from my offhand comment?

Fujinaka Genma walked over to Kakashi and explained his idea of the high-frequency Lei Blade.

The so-called high-frequency Lei Blade was essentially his past life’s high-frequency electric knife—only here, it was called Lei Blade, so he adapted to local terms.

To generate high-frequency current, Itachi must constantly alter voltage and current, increasing oscillation frequency to achieve immense power and superior cutting ability.

After hearing Fujinaka Genma’s explanation, Kakashi couldn’t help asking: “How do Itachi know all this?”

“Read more books!”

Fujinaka Genma smiled sweetly.

Kakashi was left speechless.

“Let’s see who finishes this jutsu first, Kakashi!”

Patting Kakashi’s shoulder, Fujinaka Genma went off to train.

Kakashi watched Fujinaka Genma’s back and felt admiration: “What a monster.”

Time flew by.

Half a month passed in patrols and training.

“The mission is finally over!”

“Wow, I miss the village’s hot springs so much!”

Hinata Mio packed her bag, already eager to return home.

“Huh?”

“Where’s Genma?”

Suddenly, Hinata Mio realized Fujinaka Genma was missing.

Ebisu slung his bag over his shoulder and adjusted his sunglasses: “He’s probably still by the river developing a new jutsu with Kakashi—it seems close to completion.”

“By the way, Mio, don’t Itachi think Genma and Kakashi get along well?”

Hinata Mio’s gaze turned sharp, yet she still smiled gently: “Are Itachi saying I’m not suited for Genma?”

“Uh…”

Ebisu sensed trouble, laughed nervously, and hurriedly said: “No way! Of course not!”

“Itachi and Genma work together perfectly—Itachi’re definitely the best team in Konoha!”

Hinata Mio nodded, clearly satisfied.

Ebisu wiped away imaginary sweat, muttering inwardly: “I used to think Mio was the sweetest, most gentle girl—now I realize she’s only sweet and gentle when Genma’s around.”

Five minutes later, Fujinaka Genma returned, shouldering Hinata Mio’s already-packed bag; the team officially began their journey home.

Since they departed in the afternoon, they arrived in Konoha the next morning.

Fujinaka Genma and the others disbanded to go home, while their team leader, Minato Namikaze, went to meet Hiruzen Sarutobi.

At home.

Just after washing up, about to enjoy a meal prepared by his mother Akie, the Kenshaku system alert suddenly sounded.

“Mission completed. Congratulations on gaining 10 Kenshaku points.”

Fujinaka Genma sighed: “It’s been a month—these Kenshaku points are hard to earn!”

After enjoying a delicious meal, Fujinaka Genma accompanied his mother shopping and bought several balloons.

In the afternoon, at the training ground behind the citrus grove.

Fujinaka Genma and five Shadow Clones each held a balloon filled with water, channeling chakra to make the water inside spin rapidly.

For the past half month, his focus had been scattered.

High-frequency Lei Blade, Lei Dun chakra nature transformation, and the Lei Dun jutsu—Vacuum Ball—taught by Minato Namikaze, had all taken up much of his time, so he hadn’t yet developed the Rasengan.

Now, with the mission over and free time available, he intended to perfect the Rasengan before moving on to the perfect Lei Dun Rasengan Shuriken.

One hour.

Two hours.

Three hours.

Night fell.

Suddenly—bang! One balloon exploded, spraying water across Fujinaka Genma’s Shadow Clone’s face.

Then, as if triggered by a chain reaction, the other Shadow Clones’ balloons also burst one after another—bang, bang, bang.

“Hahaha! Success!”

Each Shadow Clone cheered joyfully.

Fujinaka Genma grinned, dropped the balloon in his hand, and dispelled the Shadow Clones.

As each Shadow Clone vanished, a flood of memories returned.

Fujinaka Genma lowered his gaze and slowly absorbed them.

Five minutes later.

Fujinaka Genma raised his head, palm open, fingers slightly curled, left hand supporting his right wrist.

The next instant, chakra gathered and spun in his right palm.

Soon, a blue chakra sphere, the size of a fist, formed and began spinning rapidly, stirring the surrounding air with a whistling sound.

“Got it!”

Fujinaka Genma raised an eyebrow, smiling.

He then tried injecting more chakra—the Rasengan immediately expanded, growing to the size of a basketball in seconds.

At this point, Fujinaka Genma finally felt a hint of strain.

“If it gets any larger, there’s a risk of losing control.”

“For a first attempt, this is already excellent!”

Fujinaka Genma dispersed the Rasengan, thoroughly satisfied with his result.

Once he mastered it, he could begin developing the Rasengan Shuriken.

Fujinaka Genma looked forward to it with great anticipation.

After tidying the training ground, Fujinaka Genma ended his practice and carried the gift he’d prepared to Kushina Uzumaki’s home.

Entering the hall, he found Minato Namikaze there too, wearing an apron and busy with chores.

“Brother Minato!”

Fujinaka Genma greeted him immediately.

“Just wait—I’ll be done soon!”

Minato Namikaze smiled.

Fujinaka Genma couldn’t help saying: “Brother Minato, why don’t Itachi two just live together?”

Kushina Uzumaki’s face flushed red, then she punched her insolent student on the head.

“Ow!”

Fujinaka Genma had anticipated it and dodged smoothly, yet still cried out in pain to avoid being pursued.

Minato Namikaze held a spatula: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

After some playful banter, the unfamiliarity of a month apart vanished instantly.

The food was served; after tasting it, Fujinaka Genma immediately gave a thumbs-up: “Big Brother Minato, your cooking is no worse than my mother’s!”

Kushina Uzumaki immediately frowned: “So Itachi’re saying my cooking isn’t good anymore?”

“Of course not!”

Fujinaka Genma spoke solemnly: “Teacher Kushina, your cooking has surpassed my mother’s!”

“Now that’s more like it!”

Kushina Uzumaki temporarily let Fujinaka Genma off the hook.

During the meal, they spoke of the mission; Fujinaka Genma recounted it vividly and mentioned his new friend Kakashi.

Finally, Fujinaka Genma deliberately brought up his newly developed ninjutsu.

“What? Itachi developed another new ninjutsu?”

Kushina Uzumaki was astonished and hurriedly said: “Show us right away! Itachi sneaky brat, quietly developing new techniques again—when will Itachi develop a new sealing jutsu? That would be impressive!”

Minato Namikaze was also surprised, but still said: “Eat first; we’ll demonstrate after dinner!”

Thus, under Kushina Uzumaki’s intense interference, dinner ended quickly.

Then, before the stunned and astonished gazes of Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, Fujinaka Genma unleashed the Rasengan.

The two exchanged glances; Kushina couldn’t help but ask curiously: “Genma, how did Itachi come up with this technique? It’s a hand-seal-free ninjutsu!”

Fujinaka Genma dispersed the Rasengan and smiled: “Teacher Kushina, Big Brother Minato, this is actually an unfinished ninjutsu!”

“Have Itachi ever seen a windmill?”

Kushina Uzumaki nodded; Minato Namikaze looked thoughtful.

Fujinaka Genma immediately explained: “I learned Wind Release chakra nature transformation from Sensei Hayabusa, so I wanted to develop a ninjutsu suited to myself, like Chidori. Of course, Chidori isn’t perfect either.”

“So I thought of a windmill—a spinning windmill!”

“Given the nature of Wind Release, if I condensed a technique shaped like a windmill and threw it, it would surely bring unexpected results!”

Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze were both stunned.

Especially Minato Namikaze, whom Jiraiya called a rare ninja genius—he immediately sensed the immense feasibility of Fujinaka Genma’s concept.

Moreover, it seemed Fujinaka Genma had already completed the first step.

“Genma, Itachi’re truly a ninjutsu genius!”

Minato Namikaze praised, then admitted frankly: “Actually, I’m also developing a new ninjutsu—and remarkably, my concept is identical to your Rasengan.”

“But Itachi’re better than me—Itachi’ve already completed it first!”

“Yeah, Big Brother Minato got the idea from the Tailed…”

Kushina Uzumaki quickly corrected herself: “Got the idea from a powerful beast—still, Itachi did it first, hahaha! No wonder I’m the one who trained Itachi!”

As she spoke, she patted Fujinaka Genma’s shoulder proudly.

Fujinaka Genma displayed just the right amount of surprise, then said: “It seems this ninjutsu is destined for Big Brother Minato. After completing the Rasengan, I felt it was perfect for Itachi.”

“Big Brother Minato, Itachi developed this to complement the Flying Thunder God Technique, right?”

Correct—by this point, Minato Namikaze had already learned the Flying Thunder God Technique, which Fujinaka Genma had learned during their previous sparring sessions.

“Yes!”

Minato Namikaze nodded, unsurprised that Fujinaka Genma had figured it out.

Given Fujinaka Genma’s sensitivity to ninjutsu, it would’ve been strange if he hadn’t noticed.

“Then Itachi should also train the Rasengan, Big Brother Minato!”

“And with your talent, Itachi might even develop the Rasengan Shuriken before me!”

Fujinaka Genma freely boosted his favor, leveraging his charm.

Minato’s chakra control was no weaker than his own; his mastery of Wind Release chakra nature transformation was certainly superior. Under the right direction, it was only natural he’d develop it first.

Indeed.

Kushina Uzumaki was deeply moved; before Minato could speak, she accepted on his behalf.

Minato Namikaze didn’t refuse; he smiled and thanked Fujinaka Genma.

At that moment, Kushina Uzumaki placed her hands on her hips: “Genma, how well have Itachi mastered the Eight Trigrams Sealing Technique?”

“If Itachi’ve mastered it thoroughly, I’ll teach Itachi a powerful sealing jutsu ahead of schedule.”

A powerful sealing jutsu?

Fujinaka Genma’s eyes lit up: “Teacher Kushina, what kind of sealing jutsu?”

“Jin Gang Feng Suo!”

Kushina Uzumaki enunciated each character clearly.

Fujinaka Genma froze.

Minato Namikaze looked understanding.

“Teacher Kushina, isn’t Jin Gang Feng Suo a secret technique of your clan?”

Fujinaka Genma asked.

“Don’t worry!”

Kushina Uzumaki understood her student’s thoughts and waved her hand authoritatively: “I’ll teach it to Itachi—no problem!”

“Besides, though it’s a secret technique, it’s not a Kekkei Genkai—outsiders can train it too.”

Minato nodded beside her, smiling wryly: “I studied this technique before, but never mastered it.”

Never mastered it?

Itachi mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique and even the Dead Demon Consuming Seal—yet Itachi couldn’t learn Jin Gang Feng Suo?

Kushina Uzumaki immediately explained: “Jin Gang Feng Suo demands immense chakra. Minato’s chakra is substantial, but still far too little.”

“But your chakra should meet the requirement, Genma.”

Bedroom.

Opening the system, Fujinaka Genma stared at the three skill points stored—and made his decision.

He spent them all on Jin Gang Feng Suo.

Originally, he had planned to use them on the Rasengan Shuriken.

But he hadn’t expected to be taught Jin Gang Feng Suo.

Sealing, barriers, offense, defense—Jin Gang Feng Suo had too many uses!

Mastering this technique, combined with his vast chakra, would make capturing Tailed Beasts as easy as playing.

“But I should think further ahead…”

Closing the Mount & Blade system, Fujinaka Genma’s gaze turned deep and shadowed.

The Nine-Tails’ rampage would be a hurdle he must cross.

Most importantly:

He could hardly prevent the Nine-Tails’ rampage from happening.

Even if he went now and killed Uchiha Madara, the man who implanted the beast, it might not help.

Killing Obito Uchiha wouldn’t work either.

Without Obito, there might be Run Tu.

Since Kushina Uzumaki became the Nine-Tails’ jinchuriki, it seemed already destined.

“How do I solve this?”

Fujinaka Genma murmured to himself.

That night, he lay awake…
