Chapter 99: Defying Fate!

~6 min read 1,117 words

Somewhere in the Land of Grass.

When Fujinaka Genma and Minato appeared, it was precisely when Kakashi and Rin were surrounded.

He effortlessly eliminated the Iwa ninja, then listened as Kakashi and Rin described their ordeal with gloomy expressions.

Kakashi’s strength had certainly increased compared to his original fate line, but because of him, the Iwa ninja’s power here had also grown significantly.

It wasn’t that nothing had changed at all.

During the rescue of Rin, Kakashi hadn’t been blinded in one eye—only his arm had been injured.

But Uchiha Obito had thus angrily awakened his dual-tomoe Sharingan.

Then the two worked together to storm the enemy’s interrogation site where Rin was held, only to be surrounded.

One technique nearly buried all three of them.

This time, Uchiha Obito fared worse—he was completely buried trying to save Kakashi, leaving no chance to give him his eye.

Kakashi’s Lightning Release was strong, and his high-frequency lightning blade was sharp.

The chakra blade inherited from the White Fang had not been damaged in prior combat, but snapped when he tried to dig out the buried Uchiha Obito.

The Iwa ninja arrived, forcing them to retreat.

Rin was already weeping.

Kakashi lowered his head, his expression dark.

Minato sighed inwardly, filled with regret and guilt.

If Kakashi and Uchiha Obito’s relationship hadn’t been so hostile, this outcome might not have happened.

Teamwork had been virtually nonexistent from the start.

After hearing it all, Fujinaka Genma couldn’t help but marvel at how powerful fate’s inertia was—but he felt unwilling to accept it.

Could fate truly not be changed?

He refused to believe it!

Whether Uchiha Obito lived or died didn’t matter to him.

He just wanted to see if anything could truly be altered.

So.

Fujinaka Genma said to Minato: “Master Minato, Obito may not be truly dead.”

All three of Minato’s group stared at him.

Fujinaka Genma couldn’t explain further; he lowered his eyelids and activated the Kagura Mind’s Eye, his perception rapidly spreading.

He sensed wave after wave of chakra—but all were Iwa ninja.

Nothing!

He detected no trace within his detection range.

Underground!

Fujinaka Genma didn’t give up—he began searching beneath the earth.

And he immediately moved toward the spot where Uchiha Obito had been buried.

Minato and the others followed him without hesitation.

Rin, filled with hope, opened her mouth but held back her words.

After approaching a certain distance, Fujinaka Genma suddenly stopped.

“Found him at last!”

Fujinaka Genma smiled.

Kakashi couldn’t help asking: “Genma…”

Fujinaka Genma raised a hand to stop him, then said to Minato: “Master Minato, I’ll be right back!”

Minato nodded and said gravely: “Be careful. Five minutes.”

“If I don’t see Itachi in five minutes, I’m coming after Itachi!”

If Fujinaka Genma couldn’t resolve this in five minutes, then… the problem was huge!

“Understood!”

Fujinaka Genma nodded, then smiled at Kakashi and Rin: “Don’t worry—I’ll do my best!”

Rin, filled with immense hope, burst into happy tears.

She believed that with Fujinaka Genma’s strength, if he said it, he could do it.

Kakashi opened his mouth but said nothing.

He wanted to go with him, but chose to trust Fujinaka Genma.

He nodded to Rin and Kakashi, then vanished from the spot.

Inside a hidden underground tunnel.

A swirl of White Zetsu wrapped around the unconscious Uchiha Obito, muttering to himself nonstop.

“Tsk tsk, such a poor child—everything below is shattered…”

“But then again, can this even be repaired?”

“Will he have trouble with bowel movements later?”

“Artificial humans are better—they don’t even need to defecate…”

“Living like this is meaningless—Itachi can’t even feel the satisfaction of full bodily flow!”

Suddenly, a gentle voice spoke, freezing the swirl of White Zetsu in place.

He stopped, slowly turned—and saw Fujinaka Genma standing right before him.

Shock paralyzed him for a moment, forgetting to flee—but when he snapped back, Fujinaka Genma had already reached out and seized him.

Like tearing off a medicinal plaster, Fujinaka Genma yanked the swirl of White Zetsu away from Uchiha Obito.

“Hey… Itachi’ll kill him doing that!”

The swirl of White Zetsu screamed, but couldn’t resist.

Fujinaka Genma was now in Lei Shen Mode—his Lightning Release chakra had paralyzed the creature’s body and imposed multiple sealing techniques upon it.

Ignoring the swirl of White Zetsu, Fujinaka Genma tore him off Uchiha Obito and threw him to the ground, then scooped up Uchiha Obito and vanished from the tunnel.

But.

Fujinaka Genma did not return directly to Minato’s group—he appeared inside a cave, staring at Uchiha Obito’s mangled lower body, and pulled out the Immortal Talisman he had purchased earlier.

“Itachi’re lucky I got this cheap.”

Fujinaka Genma sighed helplessly: “But whether Itachi recover depends on your luck.”

Mainly because Uchiha Obito’s condition was too dire.

His lower body was unrecognizable; his upper body injuries were also severe.

The only good news was his head wasn’t badly hurt—both eyes were intact.

He pressed the Immortal Talisman against Uchiha Obito’s forehead—it instantly glowed with soft green light, enveloping his entire body.

Then Fujinaka Genma watched as Uchiha Obito’s wounds healed at a visibly rapid pace.

Broken bones reconnected; lost flesh regrew.

“Incredible!”

Fujinaka Genma’s eyes gleamed.

Fifty thousand chakra points—worth every bit!

“I’ll need to keep some on hand from now on.”

Fujinaka Genma muttered to himself, but he could see clearly.

The Immortal Talisman wasn’t omnipotent—it had energy limits.

Its power first healed the most severe injuries, but as time passed, Fujinaka Genma noticed the talisman’s strength weakening.

Some wounds still hadn’t closed.

Soon, the talisman’s power faded.

Fujinaka Genma checked—Uchiha Obito’s life-threatening injuries were fully healed; the rest were minor flesh wounds, with the most serious being a fractured left leg.

This effect was already terrifying.

“Hnn…”

Suddenly.

A low groan sounded—Uchiha Obito slowly opened his eyes.

He saw Fujinaka Genma smiling at him, and froze. “Genma… did Itachi die too?”

Fujinaka Genma’s face darkened; he kicked him irritably.

“Ow!”

Uchiha Obito yelped, leapt up from the ground, and hobbled over. “Genma, Itachi’re insane… hey?”

“I… what?”

Uchiha Obito finally realized what had happened.

He remembered being crushed by the boulder.

His lower body had felt nothing—no pain, no sensation at all—now it was…

“Genma… did Itachi save me?”

Uchiha Obito stared at Fujinaka Genma, disbelieving—his injuries had been fatal.

Fujinaka Genma crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow. “Who else could have saved Itachi?”

"Even Lady Tsunade would be powerless against that kind of injury."

"I used a secret technique, paying with my own lifespan to bring Itachi back."

Lifespan!

Obito Uchiha’s spirit reeled; his eyes turned red, the Sharingan appearing, then evolving from two tomoe to three tomoe.

Fujinaka Genma stared, dumbfounded.

Is… is this even possible?
