Chapter 41: The Lunatic Driver
Cheng Shuili originally wanted to start making it right away, but when she lifted her head and caught a glimpse of the blinding sunlight outside the window, she forcibly suppressed her impulse.
There are too many variables during the day; the risk of acting now is too great.
She stood up, raised her arms and stretched, but when her arms were only halfway extended, a piercing engine roar suddenly tore the air!
Cheng Shuili's body went rigid, she jerked her head to look at the rear window. A pickup truck, modified beyond recognition, came roaring toward her!
It was fast, and it was getting closer and closer to Cheng Shuili's shopping cart…
And it showed no sign of slowing down at all!
The roar even suddenly increased a bit, that beast was actually still accelerating!
Cheng Shuili's pupils contracted sharply; this lunatic was clearly trying to put her to death!
This pickup had obviously been modified; the front end could fully protect its driver, but as the victim, Cheng Shuili would end up with the vehicle destroyed and herself dead.
The driver of this pickup was clearly here to kill her!
In the flash of an instant, Cheng Shuili quickly glanced at the cargo area; the furniture and workbench inside were fixed, so even if hit they wouldn't be a problem.
She had a vehicle repair card in her hand; as long as she stayed alive, any vehicle issues could be easily dealt with!
Getting out now is the best choice.
Cheng Shuili made up her mind, took three steps in two, pushed open the door and was about to get out, when she suddenly saw a metal pipe lying quietly on the floor.
It was the same one she had used to hit the slime.
The shock had just passed, Cheng Shuili's teeth clenched with a grating sound, a surge of fury rushed to her head; she was unwilling to flee in such a sorry state!
The moment she saw the metal pipe, Cheng Shuili suddenly knew how to counterattack.
She broke into a grin, bent over and snatched up the metal pipe; its icy feel made the anger in her heart blaze even brighter.
Cheng Shuili pushed open the door, holding the metal pipe, and stood beside the shopping cart.
The pickup's engine roar was right nearby, but Cheng Shuili seemed to hear the whistling of a javelin cutting through the air.
"Good," Cheng Shuili muttered, raising her arm and aiming the metal pipe at the driver's seat, "since you don't want to hit the brakes..."
"... then you'll never want to press the accelerator again!"
Cheng Shuili gritted her teeth to force out those words; the metal pipe gleamed coldly in the sunlight, her knuckles whitening from the strain.
The pickup was now less than fifty meters away, its engine roar shaking her eardrums painfully, yet she remained motionless, like a statue nailed to the spot.
Cheng Shuili needed to make sure this metal pipe could stab firmly into that person's body!
The veins on her forehead twitched twice; she drew her right leg back half a step, leaned her body slightly backward, and raised the metal pipe over her shoulder.
This was the standard javelin-throwing posture she had learned on the university track team!
Her three-legged cat skills were hardly worth mentioning.
But at this moment, they were genuinely useful!
Thirty meters.
The pickup's front steel guard was clearly visible; Cheng Shuili could even see the twisted smile on the face of the sunglasses-wearing man in the driver's seat.
Large snowflakes slapped Cheng Shuili's face, making the view before her slightly distorted.
Cheng Shuili's breathing became long and steady, but her heart raced so fast it felt like it might burst her chest.
Twenty meters.
Now!
Cheng Shuili's whole-body muscles released like a spring, the metal pipe whistling out of her hand, slicing through the cold air.
In that instant, time seemed to stretch!
Cheng Shuili saw the metal pipe spinning as it flew toward the pickup, saw the smug smile on the sunglasses-wearing driver's face suddenly freeze, and saw a spiderweb-like crack suddenly appear on the pickup's windshield.
"Bang!"
The tremendous bang of the metal pipe piercing the windshield and the screech of the tires from the sudden brake erupted simultaneously!
Cheng Shuili did not stand there admiring her handiwork; instead, she immediately lunged toward the roadside.
No matter the outcome, her life was the most important!
The pickup lurched like a wounded wild beast, careening across the road.
The piercing tire screech again split the air; the pickup's body twisted under inertia, the metal frame linking the rear cargo compartment groaned under the strain, and finally it overturned with a loud crash onto the road surface.
Cheng Shuili didn't have time to think much; she immediately jogged back to the shopping cart.
This this this…
It's too cold!
The outside world is so icy!
After just going out for a while, Cheng Shuili felt she was about to freeze solid. This was her first time experiencing the cold, and she finally understood why people without heating cannot survive.
But now is not the time to lament that!
The pickup had overturned right behind the shopping cart; the nearest point was even less than a meter away, yet the cart wasn't scratched at all!
Cheng Shuili didn't bother putting on her cold-weather gear first; instead, she gripped her dagger and, in two steps, climbed onto the pickup.
She first needed to confirm whether the pickup's driver still posed a threat.
Through the window covered in cracks, she could clearly see the sunglasses man's face twisted in pain.
The metal pipe had pierced through his abdomen and pinned him to the driver's seat like a specimen.
The sunglasses-wearing arrogant man's face was now deathly pale; he seemed to have spat a mouthful of blood in the impact, and the front windshield had been stained red.
The sunglasses man was firmly held in the seat by the seatbelt and the metal pipe, yet kept being pulled downward by gravity.
And yet he couldn't fall down!
This constant tugging produced wave after wave of stabbing pain, madly stimulating the sunglasses man's nerves.
"Save... save me..."
The sunglasses man's voice was hoarse and weak, he looked extremely pitiful.
No delay.
Now's the time to take revenge!
Cheng Shuili jerked the car door open, cold wind mixed with snow flooding the cabin. The sunglasses man's eyes lit up, his lips trembling as if he wanted to say something.
But before he could speak—
Slap!
A loud slap struck his face hard!
Cheng Shuili put all her strength into that slap, the sunglasses man's head jerked to the side, his glasses flying off and shattered against the window.
"Save you?" Cheng Shuili's voice colder than the wind and snow outside, "You kid have a thick face. Why didn't you call for help when you tried to run me over just now?"
"Huh? Speak!"
Cheng Shuili said that, but she really had no intention of listening to his excuses.
The sunglasses man's face swelled at a visible speed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He turned his head with difficulty, his eyes mixing pain and disbelief.
"Kill and you must pay with your life; court death and you must accept your fate."
Cheng Shuili backhanded another slap onto the other's swollen face: "Your father never taught you; today, your grandmother I will give you this lesson!"
Cheng Shuili threw another slap, only then feeling relieved.
She twisted her wrist and jumped down from the pickup, then returned to the shopping cart to properly put on her arctic cold-weather gear, gripped her dagger, stepped out of the car, and carefully inspected the pickup.
This should be an upgraded vehicle, called a kart but better called a truck, with the front bumper specially reinforced—if this thing really hit us……
Cheng Shuili shuddered all over, not daring to think further.
As she went around to the rear of the vehicle, she finally heard the system prompt.
