Chapter 564: BUG Physique Unleashes Power
"Shut up!" Tonglu's voice was hoarse, with an obvious nasal tone.
But she still didn't turn around.
Cheng Shuili wasn't in a hurry either, just standing there waiting.
After a while, Tonglu finally took a deep breath and, using that strained voice trying to stay steady, said: "I'm... doing okay."
Doing okay.
Cheng Shuili heard what lay behind those two words.
"Can you leave this place?" she asked.
Tonglu's body stiffened for a moment, then finally turned around; those eyes, similar to Huo Po's, were flushed red, as if years of grievance had finally found an outlet.
When Cheng Shuili talked with Huo Po, she could feel that after falling out with Tonglu, Huo Po had been waiting for her.
Waiting for her to come back, waiting for her to admit fault, waiting for her to return home.
But the world is unpredictable, and there are too many things beyond one's control.
Huo Po is up there in age, and Tonglu is too.
Because of a quarrel when they were young, for most of their lives the two beastfolk never saw each other again.
The copper bell that Huo Po gave Cheng Shuili, although Huo Po never said it outright, Cheng Shuili still figured it out.
That was made by Tonglu.
It was a gift from their youth, and the older sister had kept it all along.
Cheng Shuili looked at Tonglu's reddened eyes and fished out the copper bell from her pocket.
Small, a bit old, but wiped clean.
She handed it over.
Tonglu's gaze fell on the copper bell, and her whole person seemed frozen.
She reached out, trembling, and took the copper bell.
"This is..."
Her voice was hoarse to the point of being barely audible.
"Huo Po gave it to me." Cheng Shuili said, "She said it was given to her by someone very important a long time ago."
Tonglu cradled the copper bell, stared at it for a long time, then pressed it tightly against her chest.
"She still keeps it..." she murmured, "She still keeps it..."
Cheng Shuili didn't speak.
The gossip light group beside them had already shrunk into a ball, not daring to make a sound.
After a long time, Tonglu finally lifted her head.
In those reddened eyes, light flickered violently.
"I want to see her." she said.
Cheng Shuili nodded: "My safe zone always welcomes you."
Hearing this, even the stupidest gossip light group knew things were bad, it foolishly asked: "Tonglu, are you leaving?"
Tonglu didn't answer; she stood up, rolled up the bedding beside the floor, slung her belongings onto her back, and silently stood behind Cheng Shuili.
Although she didn't answer, the meaning was clear enough.
Cheng Shuili clicked her tongue in amazement; this was literally just rolling up the bedding and leaving.
The gossip light group was completely dumbfounded.
It looked at Tonglu, then at Cheng Shuili, its light flashing wildly; obviously its mind was undergoing an unprecedented storm.
"But... but..." it stammered, "If Tonglu leaves, what will we do? Who will make the puppets?"
Tonglu didn't even turn her head: "None of my business."
The gossip light group was left speechless.
Cheng Shuili's mouth twitched slightly.
This temper is truly cut from the same cloth as Huo Po's.
Tonglu heaved the rolled bedding onto her shoulder, took out the copper bell, glanced at it in her hand, then carefully tucked it into her bosom.
Having done all that, she lifted her head and looked at Cheng Shuili: "Let's go."
"We have to wait a bit; I still have other business to handle."
"Sure."
Tonglu had no objections, just sticking close behind Cheng Shuili, as if afraid of being left behind.
The gossip light group also had nothing to say, merely leading Cheng Shuili and Tonglu back.
The other light groups had already begun casting vessels for the two humans; seeing Tonglu also follow along, they all showed expressions of surprise.
They just couldn't free up their hands; even if they wanted to ask, there was no time.
Cheng Shuili's gaze fell on those few busy light groups.
They surrounded a round device emitting a soft glow, their little short hands darting about, manipulating various complex runes and energy lines.
At the device's center, two blurry human silhouettes were gradually taking shape.
Cheng Shuili could see clearly: they weren't skeletons, but bodies of flesh and blood!
She suddenly grew nervous, afraid that what this would bring back wasn't Su Rui and Guanghui themselves, afraid they'd forget the past, afraid they'd become someone else.
Tonglu stood beside her, seemingly sensing her worry.
"Don't worry." she said, her voice somewhat steadier than before, "The soul is still the original soul. The vessel is merely a container; it doesn't affect memory or personality."
Cheng Shuili nodded, but her fingers remained clenched.
The light inside the round device grew brighter and brighter, and the two human silhouettes became ever clearer.
Cheng Shuili could see Su Rui's familiar brows and eyes, and could see Guanghui's face that always carried a gentle smile.
She took a deep breath.
Almost there.
After an unknown amount of time, the device let out a low hum.
The light suddenly retracted.
Two figures slowly descended from the light, their feet touching the ground.
Su Rui!
Guanghui!
They just stood there.
Cheng Shuili's breath halted for a moment.
Su Rui opened her eyes, her gaze blankly sweeping over the surroundings, finally landing on Cheng Shuili.
She blinked, then broke into a grin, "Lao Da? What are you doing here? No, how did I get here?"
She lowered her head to look at her all-white clothing, then wondered, "Who changed my clothes?"
Cheng Shuili's face instantly filled with tension; she turned her head to the bronze furnace, "Is the intelligence not going to malfunction?"
"Unless there was a problem from the start." The bronze furnace's voice was calm, as if it had witnessed many reincarnated lives.
Su Rui kept feeling around, curious about her new body. She pinched her arm, patted her leg, then touched her face, her expression growing more puzzled.
"Wasn't I dead? How am I alive again? This body… Lao Da, why do I feel this body is lighter than before? And it's much whiter too!"
Guanghui stood at the side, watching Su Rui's appearance, and couldn't help but laugh.
He turned to Cheng Shuili and said seriously, "Lao Da, thank you."
He didn't know what the situation was, but since Cheng Shuili was here, it must be related to her.
Cheng Shuili looked at him.
Guanghui's eye sockets were still red, but his gaze was perfectly clear, exactly as before.
"Do you remember anything?" Cheng Shuili asked.
"I remember, I remember everything."
Cheng Shuili nodded, walked up to Su Rui and gave her a thorough check, confirming she was fine, and finally let out a sigh of relief.
When she finally had time to look at the several light clusters, they still wore that shocked expression, and seemed to have been shocked for a long while.
The situation suddenly became a bit awkward, but the Little Chatterbox raised its tiny short hand, pointing at the two humans and asking, "You, you can actually make humans?!"
The light cluster beside it gave its head a hard knock: "Bullshit! We clearly used the method for making skeletons, so why did it turn into humans?!"
Cheng Shuili's eyebrows twitched slightly.
She glanced at the bronze furnace.
The bronze furnace had a blank expression, as if it hadn't heard anything.
