Chapter 153: Out of Place

~10 min read 1,808 words

Six god-demons walking, three converged.

None were newcomers.

Tang Luo and Li Suibian were both on their sixth mission; after surviving it they could rightfully call themselves "veterans."

After strengthening, without using skills, a dozen burly men couldn't get close — of course, they can do that now too.

Two extremely thick thighs.

And, Chu Chongtian wearing a Kamina High School student uniform.

Last time Tang Luo met Chu Chongtian was at the Walk Into Science gathering; he had completed three missions total then.

This was his fourth mission, frequency much lower than Tang Luo's.

Chu Chongtian appearing as a student wore a happy foolish grin on his face, looking at Tang Luo — the whole village's hope right before his eyes.

This mission, steady win!

What, a flag? Impossible — as long as I stick close to Master Xuanzang's pace, not leaving his side for an inch, flags don't exist.

"Dong dong dong."

Before the three could engage in further exchange, the door Li Suibian had just shut because Chu Chongtian caused a bit of commotion transmitted knocking sounds.

Li Suibian, standing right by the door, opened it — the person who appeared was actually Tang Luo's student.

Still that very pretty, very cold unapproachable beauty.

This young lady stared at the three men in the room for a while before asking: "You... were also suddenly pulled into this world, have to survive thirty days?"

"Oh, so you're a newcomer." Chu Chongtian stood up, "Master, let me tell her the world's truth!"

"... Whatever." Tang Luo said.

"Ah?" Li Suibian looked at Tang Luo a bit blankly.

"No, I wasn't calling you, I call you Old Li." Tang Luo said, to avoid confusion.

"Whatever." Li Suibian was still very whatever about these trivial things.

The unapproachable beauty looked at the three of Tang Luo's group, suddenly feeling her unfamiliar companion seemed a bit unreliable.

The four began exchanging information and intelligence.

Tang Luo's identity was this Kamina High's Chinese teacher, living alone outside.

Li Suibian's identity was the school's janitor, usually cleaning, repairing simple things, living in the school.

Chu Chongtian was a high schooler with busy parents, had a house but no younger sister, likewise living alone.

That newcomer calling herself "An An" was something else — actually a rich family's young miss, family even had an old butler, living in a mansion.

As for why she'd come to this Kamina High that aside from hardware facilities was terrible in every other aspect, who knew.

The above was everyone's identity-occupation situation in this mission world.

Next, mission-related matters.

"I encountered something suspected to be a Slit-Mouthed Woman last night." Tang Luo said, "You guys? Any dangers encountered?"

All three shook their heads.

Chu Chongtian promptly showed an admiring expression: "Worthy of Master, first arrival already with gains and discoveries!"

Simp to the end, have it all!

Have nothing, only because you simped the wrong person!

Chu Chongtian's blatant bootlicking made An An show an expression too painful to watch.

Chu Chongtian noticed, yet didn't care at all — ignorant little girl, once you understand the horror of the God-Demon Game, you'll know just how thick the thigh before you is.

By then, you'll probably offer your own pillow.

An An's beauty held basically zero attraction for Chu Chongtian — this was a mission world.

Chu Chongtian had no intention of enjoying a fling then dying; he wanted to hug the thigh properly, live on properly.

"Slit-Mouthed Woman?" Li Suibian wouldn't be whatever on a major matter involving the mission, life — "The woman in the horror legend, wearing a mask, holding scissors?"

Yingdao's horror urban legend, strength somewhat similar to Huaxia's Cat-Faced Granny, both caused no small panic, once forced officials to step in and calm things.

"Wearing a mask, but didn't seem to have scissors, the mouth..." Tang Luo paused, "How about go to my place now to see."

"Huh?" Li Suibian froze — go to his place to see, what meaning?

"Oh. After I encountered her last night I smashed her head, brought the corpse home." Tang Luo said.

"..."

"..."

"... Worthy of Master! One move and it's extraordinary!" Chu Chongtian hadn't forgotten his persona.

"Forget it, your bootlicking is too awkward." Tang Luo said, feeling like Xingxiu Old Monster, his style all dragged down by a bunch of stupid disciples.

"Okay, okay, Master you call the shots." Chu Chongtian nodded repeatedly.

"Go see? I feel this mission's danger points should be these things that are neither yaoguai nor ghosts." Tang Luo said.

"Sure." Chu Chongtian immediately said.

"Can go take a look." Li Suibian said.

An An hesitated a moment: "Isn't it class time now?"

"You don't really plan to be a student for a month? You'll die, girl." Chu Chongtian reminded An An.

Recalling the first mission, those who died died because their danger assessment was insufficient.

From a God's-eye view, one can stand and speak without backache and curse them as stupid.

But truly facing danger, those with courage, enough resilience, who can survive — actually always only a minority.

Never mind suddenly thrown into a mission world to struggle for survival — even if suddenly handed a knife and told to kill a chicken, how many could actually bring the knife down?

"Let's go, I'll excuse you." Tang Luo said — he was the teacher after all.

"Aren't there still two people?" An'an said, seeing the three of them all looking like they were about to leave.

"It's been this long and they still haven't come; they're probably not in this school," Chu Chongtian said. "The mission's minimum survival requirement is two people. There are four of us now, that's enough to complete it."

"Does this count as abandoning them?" An'an murmured softly.

"What abandonment?" Chu Chongtian laughed. "Maybe they're the ones abandoning us? Don't overthink it. Just stick with us and hug Master Xuanzang's thigh. Save these random thoughts for after you've actually completed a few missions and gotten stronger."

Overthinking on his first mission — was it any use? In the end, wasn't it still Master Xuanzang who brute-forced his way through?

Listening to Chu Chongtian's slightly mocking yet actually quite sincere words, An'an didn't say anything more, quietly following behind the three of them.

With Teacher Tang Luo there, the gatekeeper naturally wouldn't stop them; after being sweet-talked a few sentences, he let them pass directly.

"Uncle Li, you're wearing slippers?" Chu Chongtian leaned in close to Li Suibian and asked.

"Uncle?" Li Suibian's mouth twitched twice. "I'm only twenty-five."

"But you look thirty-five. Even if you are twenty-five, I'm still a high schooler; calling you Uncle shouldn't be a problem," Chu Chongtian said.

Li Suibian said: "Fine, whatever you want."

Arriving outside the rental house, Tang Luo knocked on the door, making the three of them freeze, momentarily suspecting whether Tang Luo was having the corpse inside open the door.

Fortunately, when the door opened, it wasn't some suspected Slit-Mouthed Woman corpse, but a very cute little cat.

An'an involuntarily took a step forward.

"Master, is this the legendary Doggy?" Chu Chongtian asked.

By now it had spread: besides the Enlightenment Secret Technique, Master Xuanzang had another especially awesome trait — he'd brought a cat out of a mission world as a pet.

Although no one knew what use that cat had, just this one move achieved an "unprecedented in history" feat.

A bunch of people were "secretly observing" Tang Luo.

"Mm." Tang Luo said. "Is that thing still there?"

Xiaotian Quan nodded, burrowed under the bed, and dragged out the "Half-Head Woman" corpse.

"Ugh—"

An'an's face changed color; she ran into the nearby toilet, shut the door, and a bout of dry heaving could be heard.

To Li Suibian and Chu Chongtian, this scene was trivial.

The two of them squatted down with difficulty beside the corpse and began examining it.

"Feels about the same as a human." Chu Chongtian pinched here and there all over, looking exactly like a pervert.

Even more pervert-like than him was Li Suibian; this guy even wanted to stick his hand in through the wound.

But the wound was "solid" — muscle and bone fragments were visible, no throat for Li Suibian to "stab" into.

"The clothes are connected to the body." After a while, Chu Chongtian said; he tried to take off the Half-Head Woman's clothes.

But discovered the clothes were completely grown onto the body; even forceful tearing couldn't rip them off.

Including the shoes, just like they were grown on the feet.

"Master Xuanzang, you don't mind dirtying the floor a bit, do you?" Li Suibian asked.

Gods and Demons walking the earth aren't scientists; they wouldn't cherish a precious unique specimen and refrain from destructive experiments.

Besides, it's already a dead thing — slice away, slice away.

"No problem." Tang Luo said. "This thing won't bleed; you go ahead."

An'an inside the toilet listened trembling all over; I don't fit in with you guys because I'm not perverted enough.

Li Suibian spread his hand; after a moment, a sharp sword appeared in his palm.

Chu Chongtian watched enviously; when would he be able to have his own equipment?

Flipping his hand to grip the longsword, Li Suibian slowly thrust downward at the Half-Head Woman on the ground.

The originally untearable clothes continuously split open under the blade, emitting faint cracking sounds.

"Very tough." Li Suibian said.

The sword in his hand was named "Lingfeng Sword"; it cut iron like mud, piercing a poured concrete wall was as easy as stabbing tofu, requiring no effort at all.

But now just cutting the clothes, he felt significant resistance.

After cutting the clothes, what was exposed wasn't skin, but blood-colored muscle.

The clothes were equivalent to the Half-Head Woman's skin; Li Suibian continued cutting the muscle, resistance increasing further.

"This thing, even if I really went all out, I probably couldn't hurt it relying solely on the weapon's sharpness!" Li Suibian glanced at the missing half of the head.

What power could smash such a "sturdy" monster until only half a head remained?

"It's all muscle."

Chu Chongtian said, as Li Suibian's destructive, rough dissection proceeded.

The three discovered this corpse did not possess internal organs; the entire body was composed of only two "things" — muscle and bone.

A brain that truly had muscle growing inside it.

"No wonder last night when we dragged it back, half a head hitting the stairs went thump thump." Tang Luo said.

All muscle, pretty heavy too; thump by thump, of course it went thump thump.

An'an, who had barely mustered the courage to come out of the toilet, almost retreated back in.

Isn't this a thirty-day survival mission?

Why does it feel off? Could it be she has to survive thirty days next to this group of terrifying "companions"?
