Chapter 579: I Let You Become Stronger
"Master, those demons all turned into blood threads and flew away — the number is a bit staggering."
Zhu Bajie and Ao Yulie contacted Tang Luo and said.
"I know. The World-Destroyer is recalling the demons. The free-range flock — it's already time for the slaughter." Tang Luo's voice was exceptionally calm, not sounding at all like he was in a battle.
"This many, plus the near-immunity to attacks." Ao Yulie's tone shifted. "Master, this time you… can finally fight to your heart's content!"
"Master is still injured; at most it counts as rehabilitative training." Zhu Bajie said.
"The World-Destroyer was once a God-Demon Walker, named Cain Sitter. But he doesn't have the demons' immunities now — he's just an 'ordinary person'." Tang Luo said.
"A former God-Demon Walker?"
"This gets interesting. Earlier than the Surprised Little Daoist?"
"No immunities — why is that?"
"Earlier." Tang Luo said. "And he's a God-Demon Walker who broke away from the God-Demon Game. By now he has nothing to do with the God-Demon Game at all — he's a free vampire."
"..."
Zhu Bajie and Ao Yulie didn't speak for a while; it sounded like this guy was just a secret-leaking device.
"Master, did he say anything?" Ao Yulie asked.
"Not yet, but I have some guesses." Tang Luo said. "Since the demons are all merging into him, no need to bother with them. You two go collect all the Sacred Hearts first."
"Okay." The two men and one dog flew toward the Holy Regiment headquarters.
As the blood threads merged into Cain Sitter's body, his combat power grew stronger and stronger.
His body was no longer like at the start, as if made of tofu — a light touch and it would shatter.
The current Cain Sitter was at least a piece of frozen tofu; the hand-feel was much better than before, not like just now where there was almost no resistance, no feedback sensation.
Blood-colored ripples spread through the air.
Cain Sitter's speed was extremely fast; illusory afterimages of him filled the space around Tang Luo, impossible to tell which was real and which was fake.
Or rather, there was fundamentally no need to distinguish which was real and which was fake.
Because Cain Sitter could appear at any place at any time.
Tang Luo stepped through the void, lotus petals drifting, moving and stopping intermittently, blocking Cain Sitter's storm-like, relentless, gapless frenzied attacks.
The Jinlan Kesa swayed, occasionally stirring up a patch of blood light, forcing back Cain Sitter's attacks.
Cain Sitter grew braver the more he fought, crazier the more he fought: "Is that all the ability you have? That's too disappointing!"
Tang Luo defended steady as Mount Tai: "Is that all the power your attacks have?"
The Xuanbian Sword in his hand suddenly chopped down; the majestic power, rather than forming a single sword beam, seemed to form an ocean of sword blades.
The afterimages of Cain Sitter before him were all torn to shreds; the thick cloud layer in the distant sky, under this one sword, vanished entirely, leaving not a trace.
"Foolish brute!"
This sword didn't wound Cain Sitter; he appeared at Tang Luo's side, a claw grabbing for Tang Luo's head.
The palm was covered in blood-colored patterns.
Tang Luo was about to block when a slit suddenly split open in Cain Sitter's palm — inside was an eye, trembling madly, its gaze fixed on Tang Luo.
Tang Luo's movement stiffened; he merely tilted his head to the side.
Cain Sitter's palm turned into a blood-colored wolf head, viciously biting down on Tang Luo's shoulder, tearing wildly.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, Cain Sitter let out a miserable scream of pain, withdrew his hand to clutch his head, his body swaying, nearly falling from the sky.
"Don't bite the kesa randomly; it's easy to get backlashed." Tang Luo glanced at his shoulder.
The Jinlan Kesa had a few more holes, slowly repairing themselves.
As for his body, there were only a few white marks.
The current Jinlan Kesa, in terms of defensive power, certainly couldn't compare to the current Glazed Pure Garment.
But as a "magic artifact," its offense was considerably fierce.
In that instant, Cain Sitter seemed to hear endless vengeful ghosts and souls roaring in his ears, a splitting headache.
"To break free of the God-Demon Game's restrictions, you used up the 'thing' of the same grade as the Sacred Heart." Tang Luo arrived before Cain Sitter. "Am I right?"
Cain Sitter didn't answer; both hands turned into blood scythes cutting at Tang Luo, blocked and shredded by the Xuanbian Sword.
Tang Luo planted a solid kick on Cain Sitter, kicking his body into four pieces.
The largest piece rapidly regenerated; the rest vanished into the air.
Cain Sitter raised a hand to cover half his face, fingers slowly curling, stabbing into his cheek, fresh blood flowing: "It really hurts."
"Answer my question."
"Yeah." Cain Sitter laughed, leaving a few terrifying scars on his face, his aura rising further. "But do you think that gives you a chance to defeat me?"
A pair of blood-colored bat wings grew from his back; the blood flowing from the scars on Cain Sitter's face covered his cheeks.
Forming a blood-colored smiling face mask.
His body was a stretch of black-red blood color, constantly flowing; one eye after another opened, staring at Tang Luo.
Cain Sitter violently waved his hand; his arm turned into a blood whip, tearing the long sky.
Tang Luo's body flashed, dodging the blood whip while his body stretched, drawing a bow and loosing an arrow!
The Glazed Flame formed an arrow; as Tang Luo released the bowstring, it vanished without a trace.
A small cavity appeared on Cain Sitter's chest; the Glazed Flame burned, not letting the wound rapidly regenerate.
"Useless! Useless!"
Cain Sitter roared. He felt his power growing ever more vigorous, like a raging fire, completely capable of burning the enemy before him into a pile of ash.
The eyes on his body, their pupils began to twitch, shooting out threads of blood-colored light.
Interweaving into a net, covering heaven and earth.
Tang Luo stepped on lotuses with every step, constantly dodging the blood-red light; distant mountain peaks and some structures on the ground were struck by the blood-red light and instantly collapsed into pools of black-red bloodstains.
Everything else ceased to exist.
"Run? How long can you keep running?" Cainster laughed maniacally, flapping his wings behind him.
He instantly appeared before Tang Luo, the eyes beneath his blood-red mask locking onto Tang Luo.
Tang Luo suddenly reached out, grabbing Cainster's head, his palm perfectly covering Cainster's eyes.
Blood light seeped between his palm and the mask, coating Tang Luo's palm with a layer of blood-red.
The hand gripping the head rapidly withered, flesh melting away, quickly turning into nothing but skin and bone, and then even the skin began to dissolve.
"Hahaha——"
Cainster's maniacal laughter cut off abruptly, Tang Luo's left palm in the blood light reduced to nothing but bone.
Yet it was not white bone, but seemed to have flames burning within—glazed bone!
"Crack, crack——"
"Clang——"
The sound of shattering came, Tang Luo clenched his fist—hand bones, and the blood-red mask showed cracks spreading across it.
"Get lost!"
Roaring in anger, Cainster gathered his power and forcibly shook Tang Luo loose.
He stumbled back rapidly, coming to a stop panting, the blood-red mask covered in web-like cracks, and the eyes on his body also showed fissures.
Blood slowly seeped from the cracks, dripping down, drifting away in the wind midair.
The wound on his chest did not heal, instead expanding further.
"Not bad." Tang Luo gazed at his glazed-bone palm, "Let me guess—what you're using, the power you're borrowing, is it called Origin? The Sacred Heart is also a manifestation of Origin power; they share the same source, only differing in application."
The demon's immunity reminded Tang Luo of when he encountered the demon-possessed Ksitigarbha, those evil spirits.
Ksitigarbha referred to such entities as Origin, and the demonic Ksitigarbha used it to create Hell.
And Cainster, meanwhile, was using it to create demons.
This seemed to be a higher form of power and existence, capable of opposing "gods and demons."
"Ha——"
Not laughter—Cainster was gasping heavily, after the earlier eruption, he suddenly felt exhausted.
Like firewood thrown into flames, after burning fiercely, it became dry, charred, and brittle; though his power seemed to surge, it was actually continuously declining.
He realized he was wildly overdraining his vast life force.
"What did you do to me?" Cainster asked.
"I made you stronger—aren't you pleased?" Tang Luo said with a smile.
Cainster lowered his head, staring at the hollow in his chest, where semi-transparent flames flickered faintly.
Moreover, similar flames burned across various parts of his body!
His current strength came at the cost of overdraining his vast life force.
"You'll regret this!" Cainster roared again, charging toward Tang Luo.
He tried to expel these flames; if he had noticed earlier, breaking his wrist like a warrior might have worked, but now……
If so, then let him be torn apart by my greatest power, so he may swallow the bitter fruit he himself sowed!
