Chapter 89: Chapter Eighty-Nine: Everyone Is a Villain

~9 min read 1,761 words

After a full five minutes, the gunfire finally ceased completely.

The car, already in poor condition, was now riddled with holes.

"Bang!"

With each sound, the overburdened side door next to the passenger seat fell to the ground.

The bodyguard facing the car door clearly saw a dark gun barrel aimed at them.

"He's not dead—" he managed to shout before collapsing to the ground.

After firing a shot, Tang Luo flung open the front car window, swiftly flipped onto the roof, and casually destroyed nearby cameras.

Storm's End, activate!

The ominous muzzle spat out magnificent flames, and a barrage of bullets followed Tang Luo as he turned, covering the surroundings.

Bullets fired from other directions were either casually blocked or dodged by Tang Luo with his other hand.

One minute later.

The gunfire ceased entirely, the surroundings fell silent, yet the music within the manor continued uninterrupted.

"Zizizi—"

From an undamaged walkie-talkie on the ground came the old butler's voice: "What's going on! Did you kill Wayne Kate?"

"Where is he!"

"Reply!"

"Damn it! What happened!"

"Don't panic, benefactor, I'm merely a poor monk come to enlighten you." Tang Luo picked up the walkie-talkie and said.

The other end remained silent for two seconds before speaking: "Wayne Kate?"

The voice was somewhat distorted, but it was indeed Wayne Kate.

Yet, what did he mean by calling himself a "poor monk," and what exactly was this "enlightenment"?

"It's me." Tang Luo said.

"Interesting, actually coming here to seek death." The old butler said.

In the surveillance room, a screen showed Wayne Kate slowly walking into view.

The manor's bodyguards had already begun rushing toward this location.

"No, the poor monk is here to enlighten you." The old butler saw Wayne Kate facing the camera and raised the gun barrel.

The image instantly turned black.

"Continue monitoring his movements, don't let him escape." The old butler said, leaving the surveillance room and heading toward the large balcony where Leonidas was.

"He broke in?"

After hearing the report, Leonidas frowned—how could someone have broken in?

"He destroyed the cameras." The old butler said, "We still don't know what's happening over there—should we first ask the guests to leave?"

The revelry on the lawn continued.

Although most people noticed the commotion, it didn't stop them from continuing to celebrate.

Who would cause trouble at such an occasion?

Wayne Kate was only one person, and he was already nearly dead.

"Wait a moment." Leonidas looked down at the crowd below, the corner of his mouth curling into a smile, "I have a very interesting idea."

Two minutes later.

The music stopped, the reveling crowd gradually fell silent and turned toward the stage.

Several strong bodyguards carried several boxes onto the stage and placed them there.

"Ladies and gentlemen." Leonidas's voice came through the sound system, "I announce that today's special program is about to begin."

"Special program?" Some found it strange, but more were excited—after all, those who could attend the banquet were certainly not ordinary people.

"There's a little mouse that sneaked into our banquet secretly; now, come onto the stage, pick up your favored weapon, and kill that foolish little mouse." Leonidas's voice grew fervent, "Tonight is your hunting time, the manor is your hunting ground!"

The scene fell silent for a moment, then erupted again.

A crowd surged onto the stage, snatching firearms and weapons from the boxes.

Each let out exaggerated laughter; the night of revelry turned into a night of hunting—what an entertaining affair.

"Sir, won't this be too dangerous?" The old butler expressed concern.

These people were not entirely controllable; they were merely followers of the Sullivan family.

But they were not subordinate bodyguards and could not be ordered about strictly.

"The victory of the grand revelry is what I desire." Leonidas said.

"Yes, sir." The old butler ceased persuading and stood silently behind him.

The Sullivan manor is vast.

Besides the main castle, there are two villa buildings nearby, and the garden is landscaped like a park.

Vegetation is densely covered, and the winding paths could be described as "secluded."

Of course, anyone who thought this place suitable for sneaking in to assassinate is already dead.

On the surface, hidden camera surveillance covers as high as 95%.

If the Sullivan family wishes, they could easily achieve a post every five steps, a guard every ten steps.

But tonight, the originally tight protection seemed to have lost its effect.

One screen after another turned black; nearby bodyguards at most sent back "He's here" feedback before falling silent again.

In the dark night.

Tang Luo raised his hand, fired, as if a farmer had come to the rice field to harvest his own crop—merit power.

"Another villain." Tang Luo sighed, sidestepped to dodge the bullet, and fired a shot to his side.

The bullet struck the large tree, pierced through it, and the bodyguard behind the tree fell.

"Ha! I'm the first one!"

From the other side came a delighted voice; a man's frantic running footsteps stopped, he raised his submachine gun, "Tonight, I am the King of the Hunt——"

Before he could pull the trigger, the headless corpse collapsed directly.

"Truly, everyone here is a villain."

Tang Luo observed the man's attire; clearly, he was not from the Sullivan family, but a banquet guest. And after physical purification, the merit power he gained was no less than that of those bodyguards, and even somewhat more.

The entire manor can be said to be filled entirely with villains.

"Found him!"

Again came several excited voices, collective frenzy, unconscious, it is the fuse of death.

"Master, the situation is wrong." On the balcony, the old butler's face was solemn.

Since Leonida announced the hunt game, a full half hour has already passed.

The power of the Sullivan family, those guests, all those who went to hunt Wayne Kate.

Like a drop of black water falling into ink, it vanished into this night.

The surveillance cameras outside the manor buildings were blown apart in over 80%, only a small portion remained operational.

Wayne Kate has already lost his trail within the vast manor.

Leonida said nothing, but his furrowed brows exposed his inner emotions.

Tonight's guard detail exceeds 200 people, and the number of guests is even greater.

Excluding the 35 guards stationed inside the castle, over five hundred people armed with weapons are sufficient to be called a "war"!

In the Shadow World, even struggles between high-platform table powers rarely see such a scale of "war."

Leonida certainly considered that Wayne Kate's assault must have some reliance.

Someone must be helping him from behind.

But, what use is that?

Leonida holds in his hand power sufficient to kill Wayne Kate and his helpers over a hundred times; he only needs to guard against being "capture the bandit by capturing their leader."

Thus, on this vast balcony, only he and the old butler remain.

Absolutely no mistake will occur.

"Master, shall I……" the old butler's walkie-talkie has had no response for five minutes already.

On the lawn beneath their feet, a patch of silence, empty of anyone.

Only the lights continue to flash, illuminating part of the area; the rest, due to the contrast of the lights, appears even darker.

Suddenly, in the darkness, a shadow flickered.

A figure stumbled and ran over, fell heavily to the ground, his face full of terrified expression.

He looked toward the balcony, seeing Leonida at the edge.

"Save me!" he shouted desperately.

Behind him in the darkness, another figure stepped out.

Stubble, a decadent face, each hand holding a pistol, like the descent of the grim reaper.

But, perched on his shoulder was a hatchling of a Hatchi.

"Turn on the lights." Leonida commanded.

The old butler nodded, producing something similar to a remote control.

The lights stopped flashing, successively lit up, illuminating the lawn before the castle as brightly as daytime.

"It's him."

Leonida leaned forward, looking at the person beneath his feet; indeed, it was him, Wayne Kate.

The castle gates opened, a group emerged from inside, surrounding Wayne Kate.

On his body, several red dots appeared—those were hidden snipers.

"You have chosen a splendid way to die." Leonida's voice transmitted through the speaker.

Layer upon layer, as if heavenly sound.

Despite his inner doubts about how Wayne Kate managed to kill his way here.

But this does not hinder Leonida from raising his aura to its peak.

Looking up at Leonida, Tang Luo laughed, tossed aside the pistol he had picked up with his left hand, raised the ominous, and without warning fired a shot.

Leonida's body did not move.

The bullet struck the transparent glass before him, left a series of cracks, then bounced off.

In the dark night, no one noticed the bullet's disappearance.

"But I must say, very foolish." Leonida continued.

The entire balcony is enveloped in flawless transparent glass, in the night basically showing no trace.

This glass is not only bulletproof, but can also withstand RPG bombardment.

Impregnable!

This is the crucial reason for Leonida's fearless confidence.

Tang Luo said nothing, put away the ominous; since the ominous cannot break the defense, he might as well act himself.

The man in the wheelchair on the balcony is the current controller of the Sullivan family, the representative for tonight's coronation seat.

That is, he is the source of all evil.

Purifying this person, the purpose of this trip is considered achieved.

Tonight's banquet was a gathering of the Sullivan family's core strength, which Tang Luo had largely converted.

Even if there was a chance of a dying ember reigniting, there was no way to stir up any waves anymore.

Tang Luo deliberately waited until tonight to act, precisely to achieve the effect of "sweeping them all in one net" in his conversion.

"Huh?" Leonidas blinked, wondering what he had seen.

Wayne Kate moved his hand, and the pistol he was holding vanished.

"Not bad of a magic trick, is that what you and your companions rely on to dare barge in here?" Leonidas asked.

"Woof!" Just as Tang Luo was about to act, the Heavenly Hound crouching on his shoulder suddenly let out a howl.

"Hmm?"

The sound of the dog's bark nearly caused the surrounding bodyguards to open fire.

"What's wrong?" Tang Luo looked at the Heavenly Hound.

She jumped down from Tang Luo's shoulder, faced the direction of the manor's gate, and let out a series of threatening low growls.

In Tang Luo's view, the fur on her body stood up.

Commonly known as, blowing up.
