Chapter 529

A unit of Xiliang cavalry circled behind and charged into the Han army; the cavalry's terrifying impact force allowed them to tear through the Han army's formation with ease!

"Retreat and defend the mountainous terrain!"

With no other choice, Zhou Shen was forced to lead his remaining troops to retreat to a nearby mountain for defense...

Otherwise, on the plains, they were simply no match for the rebel forces led by Li Wenhou and the others.

Zhou Shen fell for the trap, and the more than two hundred thousand Han troops he led out were besieged by the rebels on the mountain.

He could only dispatch one capable general to fight a desperate path out of the rebels' encirclement to seek reinforcements from others.

"Zhou Shen is truly an idiot, to have fallen for the enemy's ambush so easily!"

After receiving Zhou Shen's request for reinforcements, Dong Zhuo was quite scornful.

"Wenyou, should we rescue Zhou Shen? Or should we let the rebels kill him?"

"Rescue him, we must certainly rescue him. Although Zhou Shen is incompetent, he is still a General Who Sweeps Away Bandits. My lord can use this opportunity to bestow favor, but it is not yet time to save him."

Li Ru said, appearing to have everything under control.

"Oh? Then in your opinion, Wenyou, when is the best opportunity for a rescue?"

Dong Zhuo asked.

"My lord can first inform Sun Jian of this news. Given Sun Jian's personality, he will certainly lead his troops to the rescue."

"If we can use the rebels' hands to kill Sun Jian, then we can eliminate a potential threat for my lord."

"This is what is known as the strategy of borrowing a knife to kill."

"Of course! Even if he is not defeated, we can still heavily damage the rebel forces."

"When they are both exhausted and injured, my lord can then lead troops to intervene and reap the fisherman's profit."

Upon hearing Li Ru say this, Dong Zhuo was overjoyed.

"Wonderful, wonderful!"

"Wenyou is truly my Zifang!"

"Li Su, you go immediately to inform Sun Jian and General Zhou, and have Sun Jian lead his troops to the rescue."

Dong Zhuo immediately summoned a subordinate general.

"Yes."

Li Su accepted the order and, carrying out the mission, arrived at Sun Jian's camp.
