Chapter 887

"One more thing is better than one less; the allied forces are sweeping through like bamboo, but breaking Hulao Pass and letting the enemy play tricks is of no use."

Compared to the upright and unyielding Tian Feng, Ju Shou is better at guessing the master's heart...

As the thick fog rose suddenly, Lu Bu stood his divine steed, Red Hare, high upon the city gate in Luoyang, looking like a god of war.

Yesterday's defeat not only failed to crush his self-confidence, but instead gave him a breakthrough after years of stagnation.

If one does not break, one cannot establish; if one does not establish, one breaks.

Repeated victories in long battles had kept Lu Bu stuck at the peak realm for too long, forming a shackle that made it impossible to move forward.

However, yesterday's failure was exactly what allowed him to break through that shackle.

After resting for a night, not only was his stamina restored, but his strength had also reached a higher level.

At this moment, he could not wait to fight Su Li to the death once more.

To have a peak showdown worthy of the name!

"General Lu! Did the military advisor ask you to mobilize? Is this the plan and command flag the advisor asked his subordinates to give you?"...

At this time, a messenger came to find Lu Bu with Li Ru's orders, respectfully handing Lu Bu a paper edict; the command flag was densely covered in writing.

"Hmm, this commander knows..." Lu Bu kept a straight face, took the silk scroll, and walked toward his garrison camp.

Outside the military camp, several great generals were already waiting for Lu Bu. Besides Zhang Liao and Gao Shun, this included Hou Cheng and Song Xian, who would later become famous as the Eight Brave Generals, as well as Lu Bu's daughter, the sixteen-year-old female general Lu Lingqi.

"Fengxian? Was it Li Ru who made the move?"

Lu Bu arrived, and Zhang Liao asked, looking at the thick fog rising in the distance.

"Yes!"

Lu Bu nodded at him, then took out the paper edict and handed it to Zhang Liao to see: "Li Ru wants us to launch a surprise attack on the allied forces of the feudal lords. What is our next operational plan?"

Looking at the Lu Bu army, Zhang Liao served not only as Lu Bu's deputy general but also as his military advisor.

Basic situations were always discussed by Lu Bu and Zhang Liao.

"This Li Ru is worthy of the name 'Old Fox'; he actually had a backup plan long ago."

"If we follow his way of fighting, perhaps we really can drive back the allied forces of the feudal lords!"

Looking at that edict, Zhang Liao showed a sense of admiration.

"That's right! The old fox Li Ru also deliberately gave us the command flag. Holding this flag, we are not harmed by the thick fog. This makes us shine brightly while leaving the Guandong feudal lords in the dark. As long as we use all our strength, we will definitely catch them off guard."

Lu Bu also felt slightly the same.

Previously, on the outskirts of Luoyang, he had clashed with Dong Zhuo and nearly pierced through Lu Bu's Xiliang Iron Cavalry, only for Li Ru to intervene, trapping him in the middle and successfully sowing discord by exploiting Ding Yuan's suspicions.

"Then Fengxian, what are your thoughts? Shall we really follow Li Ru's orders and go all out against the Guandong feudal lords?"

Zhang Liao looked at Lu Bu, waiting for him to make the decision.

The reason they defected to Dong Zhuo was not out of original intent, but purely forced.

To a large extent, it was because Ding Yuan feared Lu Bu's martial prowess and his reputation within the Bingzhou Army, and wanted to use Dong Zhuo to eliminate Lu Bu.

Therefore, at that time, if they did not choose to defect to Dong Zhuo, they would have faced a pincer attack from both Dong Zhuo and Ding Yuan, leading to a dead end.

"There's no other way. Given our current status, we still have to rely on Dong Zhuo. Since we haven't fully mastered the Xiliang Iron Cavalry yet, we can only help them drive back the allied forces. Otherwise, in this vast world, no one will find a place for us to stand."

History evaluates Lu Bu as having courage but no strategy; is that really the case?

Of course not!
