Chapter 162: Gray Pollutant (Setting Error, Major Overhaul!)

However, even if it's really upsetting now, it's useless!

The shelter has already been upgraded to Level 4, and it's even a Silver Grade Level 4 Shelter, complete with a constant-temperature room inside.

Compared to that, a Level 4 Shelter is nothing short of luxurious, whereas the previous Level 3 Shelter was at most an ordinary house!

So, even though this Level 4 Shelter has durability, Lin Yifan feels he can endure it!

However, he has never seen what a Repair Master Chief looks like, so he naturally doesn't know where to find one.

And his shelter, after only a short time, has already lost 0.2 durability; converted, that's about a day or two, and this brand-new shelter will soon run out of durability!

Having spent so many materials, Lin Yifan naturally cannot accept the shelter losing its function!

So, he still needs to get past the Heavy Rain Disaster first!

Lin Yifan looked at the pouring rain outside the window, hesitated slightly, then took out the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 to try and see if he could make the Heavy Rain Disaster recede!

The 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 was still just a small water droplet, except the color on the droplet had changed somewhat!

Lin Yifan clearly remembered that the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 he had seen before was a crystal-clear light blue, as clear as lake water.

But now, a strand of white had mixed into the droplet; although this white layer was only as thick as a hair, it stood out starkly against the crystal-clear light blue.

Lin Yifan examined that strand of white closely and suddenly realized it wasn't pure white, but grayish-white!

"How familiar this color looks!"

Lin Yifan furrowed his brows and quickly began searching his memory!

At last, he remembered!

It was gray mist!

The so-called gray mist is actually the fog at night!

Perhaps many people wouldn't notice, but Lin Yifan, having gone out at night many times, also carefully observed nighttime weapons.

Daytime fog is pure white; when it's thick, although you still can't see your fingers, it feels as if a huge stone weighs on your heart.

But it's still white fog, and it doesn't give a strong sense of danger.

But nighttime fog is different; it's a grayish-white fog that not only makes you unable to see your fingers, but also weakens the five senses and can even cause confusion.

Lin Yifan had never paid attention to these before, because even when he went out at night, he always stayed in familiar nearby areas and didn't stray far from the shelter.

So even if he occasionally felt his senses were a bit dull, because the surroundings were so familiar, he could find his way back to the shelter even with his eyes closed, so Lin Yifan never considered these matters.

But tonight, when he went to look for the 【Qingling Fruit】, he found his senses growing weaker, as if he were about to become an idiot, his brain completely unable to think.

If it weren't for him drawing the 【Pathfinding Spirit】 today, which he could rely on to find his way, he estimated he would get lost in the returning gray mist.

No, wrong!

Lin Yifan suddenly came to his senses; he might have previously overlooked the terror of gray mist!

That grayish-white fog is not merely a simple visual obstruction—it seems to erode one's consciousness, gradually causing loss of judgment and even memory confusion!

Previously, when he went out at night, he had clearly absorbed the fog, allowing him to move unhindered in the night thanks to the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】, yet he forgot this crucial point!

Therefore, the most frightening aspect of that grayish-white fog is likely its ability to tamper with memory!

Lin Yifan lowered his head and looked again at the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】; that strand of grayish-white seemed to have a life of its own, slowly drifting within the droplet like some unknown pollution.

Moreover, for some reason, he found that staring at the grayish-white substance inside the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 for too long also bewitched him!

However, this bewitchment is extremely weak and continually weakening!

Because Lin Yifan keenly noticed that the grayish-white substance inside the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 was actually decreasing bit by bit!

According to the rate of decrease, at most half an hour, the grayish-white substance inside the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 will completely disappear.

Besides, it's just a heavy rain—why would the gray mist also become dense?

"Could it be… that the gray mist is related to this 【Heavy Rain Disaster】?" he muttered, a bold guess forming in his heart.

If gray mist can erode one's consciousness, then could this heavy rain also be a manifestation of some kind of 'natural disaster'?

And as the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 is a supreme water treasure, perhaps it is passively absorbing the energy from the heavy rain, inevitably also becoming contaminated with the gray mist's pollution?

Thinking this through, Lin Yifan decided to conduct an experiment.

He took a deep breath and gently brought the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 close to the window.

In an instant, the rain outside seemed to pause slightly; the raindrops, upon touching the window, mysteriously hovered for a second before slowly sliding down.

What was even more shocking was that Lin Yifan clearly saw that within those raindrops… there were actually extremely fine grayish-white smoke threads mixed in!

And those grayish-white smoke threads were at that very moment being absorbed by the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】!

Furthermore, as the white smoke threads disappeared, Lin Yifan shockingly discovered that the heavy rain in this area was actually beginning to weaken!

So, are those grayish-white smoke threads the true cause of the heavy rain?

If that's the case, then everything makes sense!

Grayish-white smoke is corrosive, so the heavy rain formed by it also possesses strong corrosiveness!

No wonder the shelter's durability is dropping so quickly!

He'd said it! Ordinary rainwater couldn't possibly corrode a Silver Grade structure—turns out the real problem lies within the rainwater itself!

Lin Yifan finally had a sudden realization!

However, a new problem arose: if he directly used the 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 to absorb the heavy rain, it would inevitably draw in even more smoke threads.

What if he absorbs too much—wouldn't the entire 【Source of Ten Thousand Waters】 end up being polluted by this smoke loss?

But if he doesn't use it, the shelter will eventually be destroyed by the heavy rain…

Just as Lin Yifan was caught in a dilemma, the system prompt suddenly popped up:

"【Warning! Detected \"Gray Mist Pollution\" infiltrating the shelter; current pollution level: 0.5%】"

"【When pollution reaches 10%, shelter functions will partially fail; at 30%, all facilities will cease operation!】"

Besides this string of alarms, a new victory mission has finally arrived!

"【Mass Survival Mainline Mission Series Two: Resist Flood (Only the top-ranked district survivors are eligible to accept this mission on behalf of all-district survivors)】"

【Mission content: Lead this District's personnel to survive as much as possible in the Current Disaster.】

【Collective Task Reward One: The survival rate ranking of area personnel top 100 Districts will obtain one 【Harvest Double】 Collective Blessing, blessing duration decreases with rank.】

【Collective Task Reward Two: Within the top 100 Districts, each person can obtain a Treasure Chest reward; the Treasure Chest's level and quantity are tied to this District's ranking.】

【Personal Contribution Reward: Successfully survive the Current Disaster, obtain 1000 points of Basic Contribution Value; during the Current Disaster, contributing supplies to help others also yields Contribution Value (1 Basic Supply = 1 Contribution Point); Contribution Value can be used to redeem at the 【Survival Shop】.】

【Personal Contribution Reward Two: When the Survivor's area enters the top 100, the Survivor ranked first in Contribution Value in this District can obtain 【Silver Grade Four Shelter Blueprint】×1, Mithril×10, Random Attribute×10 (Unique reward, only issued to the Survivor ranked first in this District's overall ranking).】

Lin Yifan's expression changed drastically.

I never expected it to be such a coincidence; the new Survival Mission actually opened at this moment!
