Chapter 20: It truly lives up to being a strong insecticide!

Lin Yifan originally planned to directly take one of the two mint plants and first use it to prepare medicine.

The remaining one would be used as a seedling for propagation; besides, mint has strong vitality and strong reproductive ability, and with Cultivation Soil, one seedling is enough.

But now, there's no need for that.

Because he discovered that in this world, the unit calculation for medicinal materials is not per plant, but by amount.

Ye Yifan picked five leaves, and that indicated one unit.

Then he took one unit of Mugwort from his space, and then began to make 【Strong Mosquito Repellent】.

According to his original plan, this Strong Insecticide should be like the insecticide on Earth, a medicinal spray.

He never expected that the produced 【Strong Mosquito Repellent】 would actually be a grass stick about half a meter long!

【Strong Mosquito Repellent】

Grade: Good Quality

Usage: Fumigation (light the Medicine Stick at the top to release a large amount of medicinal smoke, which can kill mosquitoes; each Medicine Stick can be used for 3 hours.)

(Special note: When using indoors, please ensure ventilation to avoid choking yourself!)

Ye Yifan looked at the Medicine Stick in his hand and let out a slight sigh.

Such a primitive usage method, can it really kill mosquitoes by fumigation?

He couldn't help but have doubts in his heart.

However, there is no better way to deal with those mosquitoes now, so he could only trust this Medicine Stick.

After taking out several portions of medicinal materials and making a total of five Medicine Sticks, Ye Yifan planned to go fetch that Blue Treasure Chest.

However, before leaving, he also took an empty Treasure Chest, scooped some embers from the fire pile, and then took the Treasure Chest out.

He used a White Empty Treasure Chest; the material for crafting this White Empty Treasure Chest is a grayish-white Stone, unlike the wooden material of the Green Treasure Chest.

Although Ye Yifan didn't know whether this White Empty Treasure Chest could withstand high heat, he had no other way to ignite besides the fire pile.

Therefore, he had to bring the fire source from the Shelter.

Naturally, the ideal would be a torch, but even making the simplest torch requires bamboo strips or pine wood, neither of which he currently has.

So he could only use the empty box of this White Empty Treasure Chest to hold the fire source and give it a try!

Worried that the empty box would be scorched by high heat, causing loss of the fire source midway.

Ye Yifan almost used all his strength, sprinting to the location of the Blue Treasure Chest, even shortening the return time by five minutes.

Fortunately, although the box began to heat up, it at least did not crack.

He grabbed a large handful of relatively dry leaves from the ground's leaf litter, placed them on the charcoal inside the box, and continuously blew air with his mouth.

Shortly after, the dry leaves were ignited by the charcoal; he then took several pieces of dry wood from his space, placed them on the burning leaves, and let them burn slowly.

After the fire was ready, Ye Yifan did not immediately place the 【Strong Mosquito Repellent】 on it to ignite.

Instead, he took out a set of clothing from his space, wrapping his face and hands as much as possible, leaving only his eyes.

Only then did he take out a 【Strong Mosquito Repellent】, place it on the open flame, and ignite it.

Shortly after, the top of the Medicine Stick began to emit waves of white smoke.

Let alone, this smoke is quite fragrant!

It has the aroma of Mugwort and the coolness of Mint; although it smells a bit pungent, it is also quite refreshing and invigorating.

And when the smoke began to drift away, Ye Yifan's attention immediately turned to the mosquito swarm clinging to the banyan tree branches.

Let alone, although the Medicine Stick looks primitive and crude, its effect is actually quite good.

This made Lin Yifan involuntarily let out a sigh of relief; knowing that facing the impending mosquito outbreak, 【Strong Mosquito Repellent】 is his trump card.

Indeed, hiding in the Shelter can avoid part of the mosquito attacks, but what if the mosquitoes don't retreat even during the day?

Or else not go out to gather supplies, just stay at home eating away the stores?

That would simply be waiting to die!

Therefore, we must have a method to restrain the mosquito swarm; otherwise, we will ultimately reach a dead end.

And 【Strong Mosquito Repellent】 is, so far, the most ideal reliance.

Now, the mosquito repellent's effect is significant; naturally it is worth Lin Yifan Gu Xing's excitement.

Not long after the smoke began to drift away, the mosquito swarm that had been motionless on the branches immediately began to stir.

"Buzz buzz buzz..."

The frantic, chaotic noise roared loudly, making Ye Yifan feel annoyed and restless.

He rubbed his temples, then took a deep breath of the smoke; the coolness in the smoke immediately made him feel much more comfortable.

Only then did he understand why, although Mugwort is the main material for killing mosquitoes, Mint is also added.

It turns out that this Mint is aimed at people!

Ye Yifan finally grasped the key, and immediately saw black clumps falling down before his eyes.

Upon closer look, they were all mosquitoes.

Among the fallen mosquitoes, some were already dead, while others were still struggling.

But they were surely not far from death!

The Medicine Stick's powerful mosquito-killing effect truly lives up to its name.

Ye Yifan lifted his head, delighted to see the mosquitoes on the treetops above gradually decreasing.

The Blue Treasure Chest, originally covered by mosquitoes, was now basically exposed.

After inserting the Medicine Stick into the ground, he then took another Medicine Stick, lit it, and bit the Medicine Stick with his mouth before beginning to climb the tree.

The position of the Blue Treasure Chest is about seven or eight meters above the ground, roughly the height of two to three floors.

If it were a straight tree, Ye Yifan really couldn't guarantee he could climb up.

The banyan tree's branches are lush, almost splitting from the base, making climbing relatively easy.

However, the higher you climb, the more mosquitoes there are.

But these mosquitoes are basically all dead, with only mosquito carcasses still hanging on the trees.

Even if occasionally a few are still not dead, Ye Yifan, who has a medicine stick in his mouth, will not let these escaped ones go.

So, the whole process of taking the blue treasure chest went very smoothly.

After taking the treasure chest, Ye Yifan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

But as soon as he checked the time, his face changed instantly!

16:15

Only 15 minutes left, and it's about to get dark!

Rushing back from here, 15 minutes is simply not enough!

How could he not panic?

But no matter what, he cannot give up on himself!

So, Ye Yifan quickly tossed the blue treasure chest into the ring space, extinguished one of the medicine sticks inside, and took the other medicine stick in his hand.

Then, holding the box full of burning charcoal, he sprinted full speed toward the shelter.

Although the chance of a fire in this weather is small, Ye Yifan still didn't want to take the risk.

Forest fires are everyone's responsibility!

Having been born in the countryside, those eight characters are practically etched into his bones.

What's more, his shelter is right here; if it really caught fire, he himself would end up as roasted meat.

So even if the box had become somewhat hot, he still did not abandon it.

It's not that he isn't afraid of getting burned; he also wants to deal with the charcoal fire, but there's no time now.

Even so, whether he rushed or dawdled, he ended up being late after all!
