Chapter 88

Lin Yifan looked at the constantly refreshing messages in the chat channel, his brows furrowed.

He originally thought maybe it was because of his talent skill issue, causing his 【Harvest Double】 blessing to be stuck and gone.

But he didn't expect that others were also encountering the same problem.

What on earth is going on?

Could it be? The task reward is going back on its word?

If that's really the case, then the trouble will be huge!

In order to obtain this reward, last night most people in the district contributed all their materials, which is how we now have the ranking reward.

As it turns out, the reward just disappeared—saying it's gone means it's gone—and for them this is absolutely a huge blow.

Moreover, the disaster task information was posted by him; if this reward cannot be fulfilled, I doubt anyone will ever trust him again.

Then if he still wants to complete collective tasks in the future, it will likely be difficult.

There will definitely be someone with ill intent jumping out to cause him trouble.

And sure enough, someone immediately jumped out in the chat channel:

Jiulong Kuangdao: "If you ask me, this whole thing should be blamed on Lin Yifan—he made everyone contribute all their materials for the task, and now the task reward just vanished!"

Fang Jincheng: "What you said upstairs is correct, Lin Yifan, you liar! Did you already know there was a problem with this reward, which is why you deliberately had us fight for first place?"

Wu Nai Di Yi Shuai: "It's definitely intentional—maybe this whole thing was a scam from the start; he just wanted to swindle everyone's materials, so he invented the pretense of a collective task. Everyone, hurry up and make him return the materials; we absolutely cannot let this con artist get away scot-free."

Liu Yunluodi: "Exactly! I felt something was off last night; because I trusted Lin Yifan, I was willing to give him my materials. Now thinking about it, it's really stupid. Lin Yifan, return my materials up! Give them back quickly!"

Wo Bu Shi Xiao Huang Mao: "Lin Yifan, you're really going too far! We all trusted you so much, yet you cheated us out of our materials—you deserve to die! Return the materials, you must return them!"

……

In less than a moment, the direction in the chat channel completely changed; originally everyone was just wondering why the "Harvest Double" collective blessing hadn't taken effect.

Now, with ill-intentioned people stirring things up, the disappointed crowd pushed all the blame onto Lin Yifan's head.

Lin Yifan looked at those few people leading the uproar and knew it was the 【Heaven and Earth Society】 making a move again, so he felt quite annoyed inside.

But he actually also had a headache right now, because he didn't know why the collective blessing hadn't taken effect.

If the collective blessing continues to not take effect, then the accusations against him will be hard for him to refute, and he might end up with no chance to turn things around.

At that moment, Chen Yunuo also sent a message over, anxiously asking:

"Lin Yifan, what's going on with this collective blessing? Why hasn't it taken effect?"

"I don't know either right now." Lin Yifan looked at the message, rubbed his temples, then sent a message:

"Don't say you haven't had it take effect—I haven't either."

Chen Yunuo, frantic to the point of feeling her head might split: "It's over, it's over—what do we do?! If this reward can't be fulfilled, then all our previous efforts are completely wasted!"

"Not only will our constructed guild fall apart, but how are we supposed to face people in the district from now on?"

"Don't panic first; I'll figure this out." Lin Yifan steadied his mind and then began to develop the previous task information log.

The task information log is a separate page, similar to the chat channel; any record that appears there will persist forever.

Thus looking up records is also not difficult.

Lin Yifan pulled up the disaster task completion delay information from this morning.

【Congratulations to all survivors, you have survived the first disaster encountered after arriving in the Survival Realm, and can receive a global reward of 1 attribute point and 1000 contribution points!】

【Congratulations to all survivors in the district, for uniting and showing friendship during this disaster, overcoming hardship together, and achieving first place in survivor survival count, earning you a ranking reward! (Only the top three on the ranking list receive rewards.)】

【Congratulations to all survivors in the district, you have received the ranking reward: 6 attribute points, the collective blessing "Harvest Double" for 48 hours, 3 green treasure chests, and 6 white treasure chests.】

【Congratulations to the district for qualifying to open the Survival Shop; now opening the Survival Shop!】

【Above information, broadcast to the entire server!】

Lin Yifan carefully examined this long string of thanks, word by word, clear as day, yet still saw no problem.

Moreover, this is an automatic system-wide broadcast task, not something he himself had to announce—how could it not count??

Furthermore, clearly the other rewards have already been delivered, so why is only this reward missing?

Lin Yifan racked his brains but couldn't figure it out; however, now that things have come to this point, we must have a stable solution.

Reputation is hard to build but collapses in an instant.

If he cannot resolve this issue stably this time, then he will never again have any credibility in the entire district.

He still wants to unite the district's strength to face the second disaster task, hoping to also prevail in that second disaster task.

Therefore, this solution must make everyone feel stable.

Lin Yifan rubbed his temples, feeling somewhat annoyed inside.

Actually, finding a stable solution is simple—just compensate for their losses.

So Lin Yifan ultimately applied this decision and sent a message in the chat channel:

"Everyone, regarding the failure of the 'Harvest Double' collective blessing, I feel very sorry; I myself don't know why either—anyway, I can't understand it."

"But regardless, your losses last night were indeed caused under my guidance, so this loss should be compensated by me."

"So I decide that within three days, I will return in full the initial materials you contributed last night; I hope you won't let this incident break your unity, because if we face disaster again, we will surely pay a heavy price."

As soon as Lin Yifan sent this message, the troublemakers from the 【Heaven and Earth Society】 in the chat channel immediately started spamming messages:

"Lin Yifan, stop pretending ignorance there; if it weren't for you, we wouldn't have lost so many materials last night—compensating us is justified. Don't try to suppress me with district righteousness; I won't buy that."

"What you said upstairs is correct—this was originally yours, and now you're still stirring things up here. Do you think we're idiots? You want to return the materials? Then you have to return principal plus interest!"

"Exactly, you must return principal plus interest, and also sincerely apologize to us—you deceived everyone, so you must pay the price!"

……
