Chapter 159: The Eighteen Demons
"Look, isn't this our teenage prodigy! Are you scared?" The handsome teen Xu Yun's expression grew cold, snickering, "Didn't expect it, huh? You actually let me meet you outside the city!"
"Young Master Xu Yun!" Fang Lei rushed forward, "Our family head has some ties with your Xu family; I hope Young Master Xu Yun won't do anything foolish!"
"When I'm speaking, is it your turn to interrupt?" Xu Yun roared angrily, his face twisted, "Get lost!"
"Xu Yun, shut up," Yu Qi shouted angrily.
The exchange between Xu Yun's and Yu Qi's squads reeked of gunpowder.
Xiao Yu frowned; it was clear the two had a terrible relationship, and Xu Yun's team now outnumbered and outmatched in strong members, yet Yu Qi showed no sign of yielding, making a clash inevitable.
……
"Uncle, just now Xu Yun went to teach that young master of the Yu family a lesson; our group was instantly gravely injured by a single person. I think the opponent must be a Lord Rank terrifying powerhouse!"
In an instant, Xiao Yu, who had not intended to intervene, sprang into action at blinding speed, instantly forming dozens of illusory bodies. With fists and kicks, he knocked the dozens who had just attacked to the ground, each spitting blood nonstop.
Xiao Yu didn't want to cause a huge uproar, but a reckless Universe-level wielding a deep‑red warblade charged at him, shouting, "Rebel, die!"
One ahead and one behind swooped rapidly toward the squad, especially a golden figure from behind, its massive aura already spreading.
"The Xu family squad arrived with cargo."
Instantly, numerous Lingxiao-level and Sky-level beings scattered in all directions, while Xu Yang and Xu Yun followed a small detachment back.
"That's Xu Yang, and the one behind is the leader of the Eighteen Demons," Fang Lei identified at a glance, his face turning pale, "Everyone, listen up, do not provoke the Eighteen Demons."
In Star City, the reputation of the Eighteen Demons had long permeated people's hearts; without a Lord Rank, ordinary Lingxiao-levels dared not confront them. For the many families of Star City, when encountering them, it's best to hand over whatever the Eighteen Demons want with both hands; at worst, scatter and flee, perhaps a few can survive.
Eighteen figures stood in the middle of the road like eighteen Demon Gods.
"This is a big trouble," Fang Lei thought anxiously, "In this Xu family large force, almost half of the Xu family's experts are present."
"Run!" the old man with a black beard glared, his voice booming, "Xu Yang, hurry to Yu Qi's side; with that Lord Rank there, our Xu family still has hope."
Xiao Yu and his group just stood there, neither advancing nor retreating.
……
Xiao Yu also recognized the opponent, a Universe-level Sixth Tier strongman who had been behind Xu Yun.
After briefing the guard, Fang Lei looked at the teen, "Young Master, we can't save Xu Yang! We can't save him."
It caught the attention of the rushing massive squad; its leader, a black‑bearded old man, suddenly raised his right hand high and shouted, "Stop!"
"Well, it's just a dispute between youths. Three years ago, my young master beat yours in a duel, felt embarrassed, and has held a grudge ever since," Fang Lei sighed, "But this time the Xu family deployed so many experts; even if the family head came out, he wouldn't bring so many. It's odd!"
"Hand over the warblade from the 'Time God Ruins' and we will spare your lives," the towering leader of the Eighteen Demons said in a deep voice.
Each of the Eighteen Demons is a peak Lingxiao-level powerhouse; like him, each is many times stronger, and together their strength surges. The Eighteen Demons once faced a Lord Rank head‑on, were defeated and fled, but none were killed.
"Men, give these guys a good lesson; I will repay the old grudge," Xu Yun growled lowly.
"Sure thing, you've taken good care of me along the way," Xiao Yu waved, looking toward the fleeing squad, and said to Fang Lei, "These people hold a grudge against your young master."
Suddenly, from ahead, someone wielding raw force roared, "Young Master Yu Qi, help! Young Master Yu Qi!"
"Kill them all, leave none!" the towering leader of the Eighteen Demons said, a hint of murderous aura in his voice.
A total of eighteen figures.
All wore battle armor and boots, each with a war helm; their eyes glowed, and each bore an axe on their back—double axes or a single great axe. Their armor colors were mainly black, blood‑red, and golden‑yellow.
"Move, brothers, take the cargo!" the tall, burly leader barked.
"Go! Hurry!" Xu Yun leapt onto the tamed beast, urging his subordinates to leave quickly.
"Yes. It must be, otherwise it couldn't be this strong!" Xu Yang confirmed again.
……
"Thanks again, Brother Yu for the rescue!" Yu Qi said in a hoarse voice.
He quickly looked up; two fleeting shadows appeared in the distance.
"What do we do?"
Instantly, the group of fierce warriors leapt off the back of the wild beast, charging straight at Yu Qi's squad.
"Lord Rank?" the calm Cang Lao voice was also startled.
Xu Yun sped back to the main force with his troops.
Xu Yang is a Lingxiao-level warrior; he was just instantly knocked down. He thinks the opponent showed mercy. If the opponent intends to kill them, the over forty of them would be slain instantly, none could escape.
"Uncle, I have a report," the lean man Xu Yang, who stayed beside Xu Yun, transmitted.
A thousand li outside Star City, a wide road cut through a massive mountain that had been split in two, forming a great canyon; the canyon itself was the passage. At this moment, figures stood atop the canyon rim.
"What do we do?"
Yu Qi's squad had only Fang Lei as a Universe-level expert, and he was only Universe-level Second Tier, while Xu Yun's side had eight Universe-levels, each at Universe-level Fourth or Fifth Tier.
"Go, return to the city first, discuss this matter with the family head later," Cang Lao said.
"Captain, what do we do?" the squad was in disarray.
Dozens rode the tamed beasts in a hasty retreat.
"Brother Yu, we are so grateful; you've saved us twice," Fang Lei said with a guilty face, "If it weren't for you, my young master wouldn't know what hardships he'd endure!"
"Yes!" the group of warriors on the beast's back answered in unison.
"Speak." a Cang Lao voice sounded.
"Eighteen Demons!" the black‑bearded old man exclaimed, his face turning pale.
"Hmm." the teen nodded.
"Big brother, they're here."
In the open, flat wasteland, Xiao Yu and his group were rapidly approaching Star City.
"We can't afford any loss of this cargo," the black‑bearded old man said anxiously, still feigning shock, stepping forward, "Brothers of the Eighteen Demons, give any orders you have."
Eighteen figures shot down like missiles from the mountain peak.
The lean man Xu Yang felt a terrifying wave of aura sweep from behind, unable to escape; he immediately thrust his left spatial shield arm downward with full force, then his whole body was split and slammed to the ground, his bones shattered, his breath shallow, and soon he ceased to live.
A silver streak of light flashed and struck Xiao Yu, and Xiao Yu quickly grabbed it with his hand, only to discover it was the spatial shield arm that Xu Yang had thrown down.
