Chapter 161: Sasuke Shocks the Entire Arena

~6 min read 1,194 words

Ten o'clock in the morning.

Students from both classes gathered at the ninja academy's playground.

Although it was called a friendly match, no child cared about "friendship first, competition second"; all they wanted was to defeat the other side.

For a moment, the atmosphere felt quite confrontational.

Except for Hinata Hyuga.

She saw that familiar figure among the crowd of Class 2-A and immediately grew nervous.

Neji Hyuga noticed her.

He frowned slightly, feeling disappointed in his heart.

He had thought Hinata Hyuga might change after achieving first place in the grade, but it seemed her personality remained much the same.

He didn't even have the interest to spar with her.

However, Neji Hyuga hadn't considered that.

He shared the same mindset as Sasuke Uchiha: the strongest should face the strongest.

The Hyuga clan and the Uchiha clan were the two great ocular-jutsu clans of the Hidden Leaf Village, and they had always been locked in rivalry.

The results often ended with the Uchiha clan holding the advantage, to the point where many defaulted to believing the Uchiha were the number one ninja clan.

Although Neji Hyuga didn't care, the members of the Hyuga clan did.

If he lost to Sasuke Uchiha, he wouldn't be able to avoid a lecture.

Yet, Neji Hyuga did not believe he would lose.

"Hinata."

Kitazawa stepped forward, patted her head, and said, "If Itachi're nervous, use the method I taught Itachi."

Hinata Hyuga was stunned for a moment, then silently chanted "rice ball, rice ball" in her heart, and immediately felt much calmer.

Just then, the noisy students all quieted down.

Four people were seen walking over from not far away.

Walking at the very front was none other than the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Behind him were two Anbu ninjas, and walking side-by-side with him was a young ninja.

He wore a jonin tactical vest, had his hair tied in a pineapple-style bun, and had scars on his face and forehead.

"Oh no, why did my old man come to join in the fun?"

Shikamaru Nara, who had been looking lazy, immediately sobered up upon seeing him.

"Then Itachi're done for. If Itachi don't perform well, Itachi won't pass your dad's test."

Ino Yamanaka couldn't help but laugh.

"It's that I won't pass my mom's test."

Shikamaru Nara sighed and said.

In his house, his mother, Yoshino Nara, was the one in charge; she had strict rules for every word and action of his and his father's, and she was a very troublesome woman.

Precisely because of this, Shikamaru Nara's dream was to marry an ordinary woman.

"Good luck, Shikamaru."

Choji Akimichi patted him on the shoulder and said.

"Sigh."

Shikamaru Nara only felt a headache.

"Did the Hokage really come?"

Mizuki subconsciously clenched his fists, feeling a fire burning in his heart.

But he quickly suppressed it, changed his expression rapidly, put on a brilliant smile, and went to greet Kitazawa and the others.

"Ho..."

Mizuki spoke first, wanting to become the representative teacher for the two classes.

But as soon as he said the word "Ho," he froze in place, feeling like a clown.

"Kitazawa."

Hiruzen Sarutobi asked with a chuckle, "I brought an extra judge; Itachi don't mind, do Itachi?"

"Of course not."

Hearing Hiruzen Sarutobi's highly tactful words, Kitazawa quickly said, "It is our honor that the Hokage and Lord Shikaku could come."

The young man beside Hiruzen Sarutobi was none other than Shikaku Nara, Shikamaru Nara's father and the smartest man in the Hidden Leaf Village.

In fact, there were quite a few onlookers who had come to watch.

Besides Kurenai Yuhi, there were nine other teachers from the ninja academy.

They happened to have no classes, so they came to watch the excitement.

But they never expected that the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, would actually come.

Coupled with the previous conversation, they immediately labeled Kitazawa as someone not to be trifled with.

Watching Kitazawa and Hiruzen Sarutobi chatting and laughing, Mizuki wished he could go up and stab him twice.

Damn it!

These were clearly supposed to be my privileges!

"The time is about right; Itachi may begin."

After chatting for a few moments, Hiruzen Sarutobi said, "I am very much looking forward to your performance."

"Hokage-sama, we certainly won't let Itachi down!"

Mizuki promised loudly.

Although he was dissatisfied with Hiruzen Sarutobi's attitude toward Kitazawa, he knew well that in the workplace, one must never offend the big boss.

Especially in the ninja world, where strength is supreme.

"Shikaku, which class do Itachi think will win?"

Hiruzen Sarutobi walked to the edge of the playground, stopped, and asked.

"Hard to say."

Shikaku Nara shook his head and said.

"I thought Itachi would say Class 2-A would definitely win."

Hiruzen Sarutobi said with some surprise.

"I've heard Shikamaru mention the special training in Class 1-A, and I think it's not bad."

Shikaku Nara explained, "They might give us a big surprise."

"Then let's wait and see."

Hiruzen Sarutobi said with a smile.

He also knew a little about the special training in Class 1-A.

He had learned of it by watching Naruto Uzumaki, but he hadn't grasped the full picture.

If viewed by the standards of ninja academy teachers, what Kitazawa taught had already far exceeded them, which didn't quite fit the rules.

But Hiruzen Sarutobi just liked this kind of upright and motivated ninja.

"The first competition item is chakra form; simply put, it's the power of the ninjutsu. The greater the power, the higher the score."

Kitazawa stood in front of everyone and said, "The two classes will take turns; we'll start with Class 2-A."

"Hide Kojima."

Mizuki glanced at Kitazawa and called out confidently.

Hide Kojima stepped forward and performed hand seals.

Water Style: Water Wave!

He opened his mouth and spat out a water ball the size of a fist.

Kitazawa raised an eyebrow.

This Mizuki had come prepared.

Although Hide Kojima's proficiency with Water Style: Water Wave was very low, it was, after all, a Water Style ninjutsu.

However, Kitazawa was not panicked.

He ignored Mizuki's smug look and said, "Chiho."

A little girl went up and clumsily used a Clone Jutsu.

Compared to Hide Kojima's performance, it was quite average.

Mizuki asked for trouble, snorted lightly, and continued calling names.

Hiruzen Sarutobi watched with a bit of a headache.

After all, in his eyes, the ninjutsu used by these students were all too clumsy.

"Neji Hyuga!"

Mizuki's volume increased quite a bit.

Neji Hyuga took a stance and performed a set of Gentle Fist.

"As expected of a genius from the Hyuga clan."

Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes lit up as he watched.

He even vaguely saw the shadow of the Gentle Fist: Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.

One must know that this set of Gentle Fist had always been passed down to the main house and not the branch house.

"Naruto Uzumaki."

Seeing Neji Hyuga showing off his fist, Kitazawa felt that Class 1-A was guaranteed to win this match.

Although the Gentle Fist looked fierce, it lacked special effects in the end; it was good to look at, but not shocking enough.

"Finally, it's my turn!"
