Chapter 67: Even the Dead Last Has a Spring

~3 min read 543 words

At eleven o'clock in the morning, the bell rang.

"Examinees, please stop writing immediately and sit in your seats to wait."

Kitazawa stood up and said.

There was a sudden flurry of chaos in the classroom.

Fortunately, he had accumulated enough prestige this month that even the students who hadn't finished were very obedient and put down their pens.

"Tomorrow at nine o'clock in the morning, gather at the school playground. If you are fifteen minutes late, your score for the practical exam will be cancelled."

Kitazawa collected the test papers and gave a reminder before leaving the classroom.

Tomorrow was the practical exam, and he needed to finish grading the papers in the afternoon.

Because the practical exam could yield results on the spot.

Adding the theory exam scores, he could release the rankings directly tomorrow, which was very efficient.

After Kitazawa left, the classroom became noisy again, filled with sounds of lamentation.

Naruto Uzumaki sat in his seat and subconsciously looked out the window; the sky was azure blue.

Three words surfaced in his heart: "I messed up!"

The difficulty of the monthly exam was higher than he had imagined, and there were several questions he wasn't sure about.

"Didn't do well?"

Shikamaru Nara noticed his expression and asked casually.

"It's not that I didn't do well, it's just... just that I had a performance issue!"

Naruto Uzumaki looked at him, holding onto a glimmer of hope, and asked, "Do you think it was hard?"

"Pretty hard."

Shikamaru Nara sighed and said listlessly, "I estimate I just barely passed, only sixty points."

"Me too."

Choji Akimichi chimed in.

Naruto Uzumaki felt a surge of spirit and was greatly comforted.

If everyone thought it was hard, maybe first place would still be him!

"Sasuke-kun, how did you do?"

Sakura Haruno picked up her schoolbag and came to Sasuke Uchiha.

"So-so."

Sasuke Uchiha said casually, his hands in his pockets.

He had already reserved first place for the practical exam; as long as he could get into the top three in the theory exam, he would basically be secure.

"Sasuke-kun, you are so humble!"

Sakura Haruno's eyes turned into hearts, and she transformed into a fangirl.

Naturally, she didn't believe it, because with Sasuke Uchiha's cool reaction, only first place could match him.

"I have things to do, no need to follow me."

Sasuke Uchiha couldn't be bothered to talk to her and walked out of the classroom.

He was a bit annoyed today because of the Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu and wasn't in the mood.

If it weren't for Kitazawa giving him hope, he wouldn't even have wanted to say that polite remark just now.

"Sasu..."

Sakura Haruno raised her hand, but could only watch him walk further and further away.

"Uchiha men are truly heartless."

Ino Yamanaka shook her head and said.

"Don't you dare say that about Sasuke!"

Sakura Haruno immediately retorted, "That's not heartless, that's cool!"

"You're hopeless, Sakura."

Ino Yamanaka spread her hands and said helplessly.

"Wait!"

Sakura Haruno suddenly realized something and asked, "Did you give up on Sasuke?"

Ino Yamanaka couldn't help but be stunned.

Reminded by Sakura Haruno, she realized that she no longer had the same fangirl obsession for Sasuke Uchiha as before.
