Chapter 108: Do You Want to Awaken Spiritual Energy?

~9 min read 1,611 words

Bai'er stood on the deck.

Behind him, the cabin shield panel was slowly closing, accompanied by the echoing gears.

And he watched the Astarte in front of him split into nine squads, as the old legion had.

Although few in number, Bai'er couldn't help examining them over and over.

He even subconsciously analyzed the appearance of these Panbian Juntuán from his professional perspective.

When Bai'er confirmed that these Panbian Juntuán were truly uncorrupted, as if reverted to the state of the great expedition ten thousand years ago, his eyes widened in an instant.

Others might have been merely shocked, but as the Galaxy's First Apothecary and a veteran of the great expedition, Bai'er found it terrifying.

Because this scene was one of the two major goals Bai'er pursued while moving among various forces.

And the thing Bai'er had never accomplished in his whole life now abruptly appeared before his eyes!

Bai'er's two major goals: one is the current reconstruction of the Nine Great Rebel Armies, and the other is an even more extreme notion.

He actually intends to perfectly clone a new Emperor through cloning!

And have his perfectly cloned Emperor lead the Human Empire to complete the unfinished expedition of that year.

To achieve this, Bai'er chose to become neutral, improving his technical abilities by any means, and thus aligned with the Chaos Faction to gain support for his inhumane scientific experiments.

To obtain the crucial technologies and materials for his experiments, Bai'er dealt not only with the Empire and Chaos, but even with Alien Forms.

One could say that if Bai'er weren't genuinely useful, not only the Empire and alien forms across the galaxy would hunt him, but even Chaos would be eager to capture him for proper "service".

There is even a powerful Chaos Faction issuing a galaxy‑wide bounty on Bai'er.

For example, the Death Guard of the Naguo Faction's "True Battalion Commander": Taifengsi!

That means that on Xisi's deck right now stands a being with the most enemies across the galaxy.

And this being is staring at his long‑cherished second goal, abruptly appearing before his eyes.

He even ignored a Judge beside him, and Bai'er, a bit absent‑minded, walked toward the freshly cleared Astarte, subconsciously reaching for an exaggerated scalpel, directing the mechanical injector on his shoulder to inject a full jar of green mysterious liquid into a war dog.

The war dog's visor lit up instantly, then it grabbed a war axe in one hand and an Explosive Gun in the other, ready to resist.

But even though Bai'er acted only subconsciously, he almost instantly subdued the war dog.

His speed was such that even a few Black Watch nearby couldn't help glancing over.

Then an explosive round suddenly teleported to Bai'er's front; in Bai'er's sudden, wide‑eyed terror, the round brushed his left ear and flew toward his rear.

A massive explosion erupted from the deck, dense fragments striking Bai'er's broad, human‑skin colored robe, leaving a smoldering black speck of steaming heat.

Bai'er froze; he didn't know what kind of Explosive Gun this was, nor why its projectile could instantly teleport to appear before the target.

But Bai'er knew that if the shooter had intended, he could have taken his life right then.

He swallowed dryly; Bai'er was extremely afraid of death and would not accept his own demise until his goal of cloning a resurrected Emperor was achieved.

Rationality finally returned to his eyes; Bai'er stepped back two paces, inhaled deeply, and looked toward the direction the explosive round came from.

There, a mortal clad in Gilded Silver Armor, with a Red Sword at his waist and a Black Spear in hand, silently cast a glance at him.

Bai'er's gaze drifted slowly from the Red Sword, then he gave a careful look at the Black Spear that had almost taken his life, instantly recognizing the affiliation of the Gilded Silver Armor and Red Sword.

But the Black Spear was completely unfamiliar to Bai'er.

After pondering, the only name that came to mind was Washituoer.

Bai'er stared at the Black Spear, unable to help but lower his head slightly, his eyes growing more puzzled:

"This Black Spear couldn't possibly have been personally forged by Washituoer and sent over, could it?"

Bai'er hesitated, and as he thought, the entire warship shuddered violently.

Then the wartime red lights flickered normally, beginning to spin more rapidly.

Fanluosi, listening intently through his headset, then, unable to attend to Bai'er, hurried back to Xisi's side:

"Dead Spirits are pressing down; their firepower is intense."

Xisi, hearing this, stared intently at Bai'er again, confirming that he was fully engrossed and had no intention of dissecting a living person on the spot, then he slightly lowered his Black Spear.

"Are the rear personnel and supplies loaded?"

Fanluosi, clearly having been monitoring, didn't ask about the rear and simply nodded:

"All loaded."

Xisi, hearing this, raised his hand and gestured:

"All vessels, execute immediate jump."

Fanluosi instinctively turned to execute, but after turning, hesitated and stepped back:

"Where to jump?"

Xisi, about to tell them to pick any spot, when the area below, cleared by Xisi's explosive round, suddenly spoke:

"I know a set of Coordinates."

Xisi glanced at Bai'er, his eyelids flickered, his eyes full of disbelief.

Bai'er, seeing this, realized his approach was dubious; whether to gain a chance to study these Astarte or to have Xisi shield him from the Dead Spirits for a while, he projected the Coordinates:

"Here!"

Pointing at the projected location, with the warship's tremors and roars growing denser, Bai'er spoke rapidly:

"It's not far, and once we go there, we can temporarily escape these Alien Forms."

"We are partners; you can trust me."

Bai'er finished speaking, looked at Xisi, saw Xisi too lazy to even lift his eyelids, and with a pout he buried his head again:

"It's fine if you don't trust; trust can be built over time."

"But unfortunately, Abadon will have to take a few more beatings from the Dead Spirits."

Fanluosi's eyes lit up, and he hurriedly looked at Xisi; Xisi, previously uninterested, slightly opened his eyes, finally showing a hint of interest.

Seeing Bai'er's marker, he realized it was an Abadon Coordinate that Bai'er didn't know the source of; although Xisi remained skeptical, watching the warship's increasingly violent tremors and hearing another light cruiser being pulverized by concentrated fire, Xisi finally turned his head toward Fanluosi.

"Just jump here."

"After passing, regardless of what's there, the entire ship will immediately perform a second Leap and leave this place."

"Fanluosi performed the salute and carried it out; soon, under a sky of artillery fire, and with another light cruiser that failed its forced Leap under the fire, Xisi, who had already lost three cruisers, finally left here."

"And the moment the fleet vanished, the Undead Fleet unsurprisingly performed an immediate Leap right after."

"On the other side."

"A multitude of Chaos warships guarded the Ominous Sign Ark."

"Abadon and Washituoer sat on the Bridge, each silent toward the other."

"No one spoke on the Bridge; both of them slumped in the corner, their gloomy faces too lazy even to lift an eyelid."

"Abadon's own plan not only failed to trouble Xisi, but caused Xisi to recruit a strike force that he could not move."

"Washituoer, on the other hand, literally had no eyelids to lift."

"But Abadon could only lament how his 'perfect plan' turned out like this."

"Washituoer also stared at the ordinary Explosive Gun before him, helpless that his 'perfect exchange' had become like this."

"Although neither spoke, the crew forced to stand watch on the Bridge felt as if a name lingered constantly in the air."

"Then, perhaps because the name had been uttered too many times, after a low murmur—whether from Abadon or Washituoer—whispering the two characters 'Xisi', the dead‑silent Bridge suddenly erupted with a fierce alarm."

"Abadon and Washituoer froze, then, seeing the fleet marked as Xisi in the projection, they almost instantly regained their spirit and sprang to their feet."

"'He actually took the initiative to attack?!'"

"Abadon erupted in fury; Washituoer also suddenly tried to fling the Explosive Gun, but after raising it high he couldn't bring himself to do it, so he lifted it lightly instead."

"Then the two were about to command their fleet to give Xisi a show, but the Xisi who had just leapt out immediately jumped away again on the spot."

"This scene left both of them stunned; just as they were about to wonder what Xisi was doing, where Xisi had just left, a spatial ripple occurred, and an Undead Fleet appeared almost face‑to‑face in front of Abadon and Washituoer's joint fleet."

"Both sides suddenly stopped; the near‑face‑to‑face distance left each side dumbfounded, but then, separated by the porthole, they glanced at each other—though both aimed to hunt Xisi, they still clenched their teeth and pressed the fire button."

"We're already face‑to‑face; what else can we do?"

"Fire!"

"Neither side dared expect the other not to fire, so they had to shoot first."

"On the other side, seeing that there were finally no pursuit forces behind, on the Bridge, Bai'er was personally taken in by a dozen members of the Black Watch."

"Facing these mortals, Bai'er glanced at them twice, his eyes widening, yet he dared not entertain any dissection ideas."

"When he finally stood before Xisi, without waiting for Xisi to speak, unsure whether it was to gain Xisi's approval or out of genuine goodwill, Bai'er suddenly halted and spoke before anyone else."

"He again brushed the Undead box in his arms, Bai'er's gaze fixed on Xisi, each word measured:"

"'Lord Sisi.'"

"'You want…'"

"'…to awaken spiritual energy?'"
