Chapter 255: Kanglade‑Koz
During the Great Rebellion, the Loyalist faction and the Rebel faction were not as sharply divided as they were in the 40K era.
There was no absolute justice or evil.
Beyond the initial disputes between the two sides, most of the conflict revolved around each refusing to acknowledge the other's path.
Many Loyalists actually resembled Rebels, and likewise many Rebels resembled Loyalists.
Take Motarian, who was among the earliest Rebels, yet the more he fought the more he recoiled; in the Terra Siege he was the last to arrive on the battlefield.
The Thousand‑son Original Body Magnus was a shut‑in from start to finish, hardly ever clashing with the Empire.
Alpharis both raged in the savage slaughter of Loyalists and, with a mind that seemed deranged, kept shouting that everything was for the Emperor.
The situation on the Loyalist side was also complicated; the three of the Second Empire need no further explanation.
White Scar of the Chagatai Khan almost wholly, aside from the Original Body, supported Helusu.
If you insist that White Scar has internal divisions, those splits are not like other Legions' Loyalist versus Rebel split.
Instead, they are divided into radical rebels and conservative rebels.
The radical side believes they need not wait for Chagatai; they should raise the banner and revolt immediately.
The conservative side thinks they should wait for Chagatai's return before raising the banner.
Limanlus's Wolf Brigade directly led its entire force away from Terra at the crucial moment, missing the Terra Defense War entirely.
This even occurred after Limanlus had already arrived on Terra.
One could say that during Terra's final battle, not only Helusu was worn out by his teammates, but even the Loyalist Rogdoen was likewise exhausted by his comrades.
First his own uncle Macado was squeezed into a human husk, then a few brothers who rushed to his aid were beaten into "Angel Sauce".
Finally, even his own father was given a chilling blow right in front of him by his former elder brother.
All of this unfolded within Kiriman's countless "nine‑hour" intervals.
Thus the Great Rebellion's situation was actually far more complex and ambiguous than later records suggest.
Now, standing on the Markurag platform, Xisi looked up at Aolake overhead and recalled more details about the Second Empire.
One point was an Original Body of the Rebels who treated the Lai'ang Zhuangsen flagship as his "home" and, following Shiwang, also arrived at Markurag.
That was the Batman Legion, the Original Body of the Midnight Lord, Kanglade‑Koz!
Kanglade was a Rebel, who, for various reasons, ended up alone among the Dark Angel squad.
As a Legion adept at assassination and covert operations, Kanglade, being an Original Body, was a standout.
He managed to hide inside Shiwang's flagship, under the ruler's very nose, for several years during the Great Rebellion.
During those years, even his eating, drinking, relieving himself, and so on were all handled aboard Shiwang's flagship.
Later generations would jokingly say that this scene showed Kanglade treating Shiwang's flagship as his own home.
Now, whether Aolake is larger and more magnificent, Kanglade doesn't know why, but he actually wants to "move house"!
However, as the Ominous Sign Ark that harbors hateful intelligence, Aolake is covered entirely in metallic nerves, and almost as soon as Kanglade set foot on Aolake, he was discovered.
So before Kanglade could even settle his seat, Xisi had already received the news.
Retracting his gaze from Aolake, Xisi looked at Shiwang with a speechless expression.
Shiwang, who had also learned the news, couldn't help but shift his gaze away from Xisi, looking a bit awkward.
"Let the troops below carry on like this; now everyone, follow me back to Aolake to see what's going on."
Xisi tossed out a line, raised his hand, summoned a teleporting Divine Light, and then teleported himself, Kiriman and the other two back to the Bridge.
Arriving at Aolake's Bridge, he saw a rational Bridge completely unlike that of the 30K era; Aolake was now adorned everywhere with countless statues, leaving Kiriman and the two companions extremely uneasy.
But relative to those statues, when a Servo Skull flew in on its own and projected an image, not only Kiriman and the two, but even Xisi, couldn't help but be stunned.
Because in the image, a silhouette clad in black‑red armor, a strange cape, and bat‑blood wings on its head, was awkwardly and comically sprinting across the screen to avoid being seen.
What the crowd found most unbearable was that, despite the ridiculous motions, the eyes beneath that helmet were filled with seriousness, confidence, and rigor!
Just a dozen minutes earlier, on Aolake.
A few demons shouted loudly as they ran across the deck.
They carried all sorts of gear, their faces excited as they looked around.
While running, they called out:
"Quick, don't let Kanglade get away!"
"Remember, the one who loves cosplaying Batman is the one!"
The demons were excited, because Aolake offered a reward: whoever captured Kanglade could be sent back to Subspace.
For the demons on Aolake, whose lives were worse than death, this was an unimaginable boon.
The entire ship's demons were more than ever eager to capture Kanglade.
They just waited for those demons to run past, behind the multiple decks above their heads.
A silhouette that seemed fully merged with darkness slowly shifted its gaze.
Then massive self‑doubt flashed in its eyes!
Kanglade felt a bit depressed.
Besides his original fascination, the Second Empire's founding ceremony was abruptly halted.
And his otherwise smooth relocation was riddled with oddities, even something sinister!
Recalling the moment he slipped onto Aolake, he saw the personnel who rushed to transport supplies and act as movers were, damn it, a bunch of hopeless demons.
Kanglade realized this trip might have been a mistake!
But demons are demons; after all, the galaxy is vast and abnormal events are plenty.
Then Kanglade, using what he considered flawless movement, evaded everyone's sight, perfectly reaching a corner, ready to find a place to settle.
He turned, looked up, and was met face‑to‑face by a black‑gold skull.
And before Kanglade could react, this was something beyond comprehension.
The Black Gold Skull instead wore a puzzled expression:
"You've been leaping up and down since you boarded the ship; what are you doing?"
"If you have nothing to do, go help move things!"
Aolake was somewhat displeased, mainly because Kanglade's evasive movements to avoid being seen were rather comical.
Only those who Kanglade evaded cannot see him; those who do see him cannot survive.
Thus Kanglade's slightly comical hiding actions were never noticed.
Now, as an extreme efficiency seeker, Aolake watched someone who boarded the ship with the Yunxuji, neither reporting joining Astat nor helping command the unloading of supplies.
Instead, as if some nerve was malfunctioning, insisting on such leaping, he couldn't help but send a Servo Skull over to ask what he was actually doing.
It was only Aolake who saw no problem; instead, Kanglade, who considered himself flawless, after getting through the initial shock, suddenly smashed the Servo Skull.
Then, while dodging even faster and staring wide‑eyed, he kept hinting:
"Coincidence!"
"It must have been a coincidence just now!"
