Chapter 95: I hurried over and brought you a little tail

~6 min read 1,169 words

Great Vortex core.

A demon world completely wrapped in subspace energy.

In the distance, a gas giant planet, beneath the gas haze faintly visible are a pair of huge eyes.

Stars constantly flash eerie light, shining upon a world full of volcanoes and magma.

As the planet rotates, the side facing away from view can be seen: a monstrous maw spanning half the planet, constantly opening and closing toward the void.

Yet in this terrifying star system, a relatively 'normal' demon world has its orbit swarming with countless pirate fleets.

Beneath the fleet lies a magnificent altar, clearly visible even in space.

At this moment, the palace inside the altar.

Abadon stands on the balcony, gazing at the towering Four Gods statues outside, and at the offerings before the altar that are continuously presented according to each god's preference.

Behind him, an Astartes clad in scarlet power armor, right hand with vicious claws, left hand wielding an exaggerated giant axe, silently inspects the loot recently plundered by his pirate subordinates.

Meanwhile, some wonder why Abadon, since arriving here, keeps looking up at the Four Gods statues.

When did Abadon become so devout?

Xiulun wonders, while Abadon on the balcony again confirms that Xisi has not yet come to kill him, finally relaxing and withdrawing his gaze.

At the same time, he turns to look at Xiulun behind him, sees him busy, does not go over immediately, but first looks at the attendant beside him:

"Does Washituoer know there is a fragment in Xisi's hands?"

The attendant nods:

"The news has already been sent out."

Upon hearing this, Abadon's expression finally eased a little, and after many days he even took a deep breath:

"All we need to do now is hide here with Xiulun and wait for Washituoer to arrive..."

"Well, meet me."

Abadon awkwardly paused, meanwhile cautiously looking at his subordinates, wanting to see if they showed any contempt due to his 'weakness'.

Just after a glance, seeing his subordinates also relaxed alongside him, Abadon finally let out a breath.

After all, those who have followed Abadon to this point are die‑hards, all having personally witnessed how unreasonably Xisi behaved that day.

So, no one thinks Abadon's behavior is wrong!

Abadon, his mood slightly eased, turned and walked back to the palace, facing Xiulun who kept frowning at his subordinates, even finding the mood to worry about their affairs.

"How? The recent gains aren't good enough?"

Abadon sat down, while Xiulun faced this 'old senior' and displayed a matching attitude.

He waved his hand to dismiss his subordinates, yet Xiulun's doubtful expression did not fade:

"Strangely, over the past period I don't know why, my subordinates have lost seven or eight warband leaders in a row."

"According to the gathered intel, it seems they were all wiped out by a mere handful of mortal ships, no more than a dozen."

Xiulun said this without the slightest shock, only deep doubt; he even unabashedly looked at Abadon and voiced his question:

"I really can't figure out which evil god used illusion to make my subordinates all start spouting nonsense."

Xiulun thought it natural, after all, a few broken ships of mortals managed to take out seven or eight of my warband leaders.

When these words appeared before Xiulun, the only thing he could comprehend was that some sorcery must be responsible, and it's incredibly powerful!

Meanwhile, Abadon, whose face had just lit up with ease, suddenly froze.

The smile he had just forced was somewhat awkward; he gave a dry chuckle twice, and Abadon didn't dare to respond.

Just as Xiulun withdrew his doubtful gaze, Abadon lowered his head and felt a surge of relief.

Thank goodness, the dead aren't our own......

Abadon was about to keep laughing it off, when another of Xiulun's pirate warband leaders hurried in; Xiulun, who had been doubtful, suddenly lifted his head and widened his eyes at his subordinate.

"What?"

"There really are a dozen or so broken mortal ships?!"

"And they're right in orbit?!"

Xiulun stared at his subordinate, his face full of astonishment; behind him, out of sight, the Abadon who had just given a dry laugh suddenly straightened up as if startled.

The sudden action drew Xiulun's attention; he turned back for a glance, and Abadon, facing the gaze of the surrounding red pirates, paused, then turned to fiddle with the throne behind him, speaking while he fiddled:

"Strange, why is this chair unstable?"

Abadon's odd behavior left everyone baffled, but Xiulun had no time to ponder what nerve Abadon had struck; he simply turned back to his subordinates and requested more data.

As more and more information gathered, Xiulun, the instigator of the second Astartes great rebellion, quickly reacted with his outstanding strategic thinking.

He gazed toward the direction where Xisi appeared and the points where his warband leaders were wiped out; suddenly he lifted his head, paused a few seconds, then snapped his head back to look at Abadon.

Meanwhile, Abadon still had his back to Xiulun, checking what was wrong with the chair.

Xiulun stared blankly, then turned back to request Abadon's supply information; merely comparing them casually, he found that Abadon's route completely overlapped with that of these mortals!

This situation is actually not hard to infer; even a little attention would reveal it.

But the problem is who would think these mortals not only truly killed seven or eight warband leaders, but were also lured in by Abadon......

Xiulun thought of this, his eyes suddenly stalled again, then he entertained a slightly exaggerated notion, wanting to glance once more at Abadon, yet he hesitated whether to turn back.

This Abadon kid......

Could he be under pursuit?

A flicker of shock passed through Xiulun's eyes, but he quickly dismissed the idea.

After all, in this messed‑up galaxy, information transmission is inherently slow and distorted, let alone the red pirates hiding in the Great Vortex.

Xiulun doesn't even know the prophecy issued by the Divine Emperor; his understanding remains stuck in a normal world without Xisi.

Therefore, even though this idea would best explain things, Xiulun still refuses to believe it.

He merely set aside that ridiculous notion, renewed his respect for Abadon, and spoke in a perfectly normal tone:

"War General, these mortals seem to have followed you in."

Abadon is also a human spirit; otherwise he couldn't assemble the Four Gods team, whose hearts are full of treachery.

He only watched Xiulun's performance and knew that even if Xiulun guessed it, they wouldn't be willing to believe.

Seeing this, Abadon let out a deep sigh of relief again, and his face showed genuine "admiration" for Xiulun.

Then, faced with Xiulun's question, Abadon finally stopped paying attention to his metal throne and stood up straight.

Afterwards, after confirming again that Xiulun had deployed enough defensive forces on his home planet, he finally forced a bright smile onto his face:

"Look how this has gotten messy!"

"You came in a rush, I brought you a 'little tail'~"
