Chapter 1: Cannibal People
Excruciating pain throughout his body, a splitting headache, a mouth full of the metallic tang of blood, his belly feeling as if it were about to burst... These were all things Li Yu was feeling at this moment.
At first, he thought it was just a nightmare, but gradually, the intensity of every sensation grew, crazily ravaging and torturing his soul.
Finally, in a moment of stupor, he opened his eyes, and in the next instant, he saw his own inconceivable situation:
This was an old room of brick and mud. Before him was a greasy, rough, and filthy wooden table. The tabletop was almost stacked high with a large number of bowls and plates, a complete mess of leftovers and cold, congealed, fishy grease mixed with scraps covering everything.
And on the floor lay two miserable, mangled corpses.
One was a male corpse, chest and belly exposed, ugly in appearance with a broad nose and rotting mouth, covered in grease, looking exactly like a butcher who spent his days working at a chopping block. Now, there were claw marks all over his body, and his abdomen had been sliced open, with fatty intestines spilling all over the floor.
The other was a female corpse, plump and sturdy, her face thickly caked with greasy powder, rouge on her cheeks, wearing a green top and a red skirt. She was not beautiful at all, but rather vulgar and fierce. Her method of death was slightly better; it seemed her neck had been snapped clean.
As for himself, his condition was no better.
He was actually placed inside a large water vat, soaking in some kind of pitch-black, cold, viscous liquid. His limbs had been broken, at least half of the bones in his body were shattered, and he could barely move anything below his neck, forced to smell the nauseating stench inside the room.
At the same time, in his mind, fragments of terrifying and horrific scenes were flashing back:
First was the butcher who was now a corpse on the floor. He saw his living self constantly grabbing various strange, foul-smelling raw foods from those bowls and plates, stuffing them forcibly into the original owner's mouth. The movements were extremely brutal, with meat scraps flying and juices splattering everywhere.
While stuffing, the butcher kept muttering:
"Good child, eat more, eat until you're full."
"Good son, eat one more bite, just one bite."
"Good child, endure a little longer. Once the Forbidden Egg in your belly hatches, you will become the Child of the Forbidden God. By then, not only will you be able to live forever, but your father and mother can also eat your flesh and officially ascend to become [Cannibal People]."
"Then our whole family will have a good life. Don't be ungrateful; these foods are rare treasures. You know how hard your father and mother worked to collect them."
"In this City of Ten Thousand Blessings, if you cannot become a transcendent, you live worse than pigs or dogs. Whether your father and mother can get ahead depends entirely on you."
These words were shocking enough to leave Li Yu completely stunned.
But there was something even more horrifying: the woman, the female corpse, dancing in a frenzy, chanting a chilling song that seemed to have been adapted from a poem.
The beginning went:
"In a year of great famine, people sell themselves as meat in the market, known as Cannibal People..."
The rest was blurry, but every line that came through felt like a red-hot iron skewer piercing directly into the original owner's brain, stirring constantly, causing him to develop an infinite appetite even while on the verge of being stuffed to death.
There were even associated hallucinations, abnormally realistic, making saliva surge wildly in his mouth.
The craving for human flesh was uncontrollable.
Finally, the bloodbath erupted.
In that crazy, evil atmosphere, the original owner suddenly went mad, leaping out of the vat. His hands turned into black-armored sharp claws, two scarlet eyes grew side-by-side on his forehead, and an indescribable, inhuman malice manifested. From his mouth, he spat out a meat tentacle several feet long, covered in buds, which curled to reveal rows of fine, dense teeth.
In the blink of an eye, the original owner disemboweled the butcher and used his tentacles to snap the neck of the woman in the red skirt.
But soon, he seemed to wake up, struggling and wailing as he lay back into the vat, beginning to self-mutilate.
During this process, the original owner would emit low murmurs and delirious babble, then shrill wails, until finally, after there was nothing left to mutilate, he spat out a large mouthful of pus and blood and fainted completely in the vat.
"Did I transmigrate? Or am I in a nightmare?"
"What Cannibal People, what parents eating meat—what kind of transmigration is this?"
"Wake up, quickly!"
Having finished watching the scenes from before his death, Li Yu was now almost going insane.
Transmigrating for no reason was already incredibly terrible, but these images directly filled his heart with infinite panic, reducing his reason to zero.
Just as Li Yu's eyes widened and he was about to faint, a massive amount of memory fragments surged into his mind like a tidal wave.
A life from the original owner, incredibly miserable and inconceivable, began to merge with his own.
He had no proper name; he was called "Dog Spawn" by those parents—the pair of male and female corpses on the floor before him.
Since childhood, he had been raised in the small dark room before him, had not seen many outsiders, and had been fed all kinds of strange, foul-smelling food.
He had even been abruptly shoved into this water vat by his parents to begin a process of thorough husbandry, and every so often, he had to endure that terrible scene just witnessed.
Even a fool could react and realize that these parents were not good people, but likely vicious, perverted monsters.
But the original owner was kind-hearted by nature and willing to sacrifice; no matter how disgusting or strange the food was, or how terrible his parents' behavior was, he accepted it willingly.
Even though because of this, his own soul was tortured until it was incomplete, neither human nor ghost.
And the final straw that broke the camel's back, causing the original owner to completely collapse and go mad, was a conversation he accidentally overheard:
"Master of the house, one more feeding should be enough to gather the hundred flavors and let that Forbidden Egg hatch completely."
"It should be about enough. That little brat has eaten us poor; if he doesn't transform into the [Child of the Forbidden God], I'll chop him up."
"Hey, master of the house, you said when he's ripe, should we eat him alive or slaughter him first? Although this brat was something we traded for, we've raised him for all these years; my heart really can't bear it." "Of course, eat him alive; the medicinal effect is best."
"You fierce woman, don't forget, only by eating him can we both ascend to become [Cannibal People] and have a chance to leave this City of Ten Thousand Blessings and find our own child back."
"Is our child really still alive? Back then, we traded children with the neighbors just to survive. We were lucky to meet the Forbidden God cultists, so we didn't eat him. That couple next door didn't have such dog-shit luck; could they have resisted?"
"Shut up. Although you and I aren't true Cannibal People yet, we worship the Forbidden God often and have been granted strange powers; we both have extraordinary spiritual responses. I can sense that our bloodline is still alive, in the direction of the Gan Kingdom, waiting for us to find him."
These conversations were a bit disjointed, but enough for both Li Yu and the original owner to understand their meaning.
Panic and anger surged up together.
"So, being treated as a dog spawn didn't matter, living in a small dark room since childhood wasn't painful, and being raised as a human elixir didn't cause a collapse..."
"It was only until he learned he was the 'child' from a child-swapping-for-food arrangement, and that his foster parents intended to gain power to find their biological son, that he fell into complete despair?"
"He gave up resistance during the last feeding, went mad with alienation, slaughtered his foster parents, and should have succumbed to the cannibalistic desire stimulated by that chilling song, but miraculously resisted? To prevent the evil god's Forbidden Egg from possessing his body and escaping, he simply mutilated his own body, destroyed his five senses, and wanted to drown himself in the vat?"
"I didn't expect that, in the end, it would be me who possessed him?"

When Li Yu realized this, his heart was full of despair.
Now he was certain he had transmigrated!
He was possessing a poor person raised as a spiritual elixir by cultist parents.
And the original owner was both kind and ruthless.
To prevent the "evil spirit" hatching inside him from going out to harm others, he had simply turned himself into a human stick.
Now that Li Yu had come, he would have to endure the torture of starving to death all over again.
"Fine!"
"As long as I can go back after starving to death, that's fine. From those images, this dog-shit world is probably full of evil gods and rampaging demons, right?"
"Hm? No, that's not right!"
Just as Li Yu was complaining, he suddenly realized something was wrong.
The original owner had clearly gouged out his eyes and deafened his ears, so why could he see and hear now?
Also, where was the fragrance coming from?
Li Yu suddenly smelled a series of strange fragrances, an astonishing scent he had never smelled before.
You must know that Li Yu came from a modern society; the fragrances he had experienced were incredibly rich, and the results brought by the food industry were far beyond what food in an ancient society could compare to.
But at this moment, he felt this was the most fragrant scent he had ever smelled in his life, even triggering a series of physiological reactions.
Saliva secreted wildly in his mouth, his belly rumbled, his whole body flushed, and an uncontrollable appetite surged forth.
But very quickly, he discovered the source of the fragrance.
It was himself!
Every pore on his body seemed to have opened, overflowing with strands of extraordinary fragrance. Yet, it couldn't drift far; only he could smell it, to the point where he wished he could eat his own flesh.
In fact, if his limbs hadn't been broken, he feared he would have already been driven by instinct to start gnawing on his own arms.
Stimulated by this bizarre situation, some memories that the original owner had deliberately forgotten immediately resurfaced in his mind.
These were scenes that were quite cruel:
After being parasitized by that thing called the "Forbidden Egg," the original owner began to be tortured by pain every moment and started to become very fragrant, a living human spiritual elixir.
When Li Yu smelled the fragrance, besides the thought of self-cannibalism, he suddenly developed a strong impulse to eat others.
His gaze immediately turned to the two corpses on the floor.
From within his belly, a rustling, urging whisper suddenly came, drilling directly into his brain.
In a trance, because of these sounds, Li Yu seemed to enter a state of "internal vision."
And so, in the next instant, he saw a scene that made him want to self-mutilate again:
His belly was like that of a woman ten months pregnant; inside was a scarlet ball of meat, and beneath a thin membrane was a face exactly like his own.
Only the expression was indescribably evil.
Millions of egg filaments extended out, completely taking over all his flesh and organs below the brain, currently secreting streams of cold, viscous liquid that flowed all over his body.
A tingling sensation came from his shattered bones, his broken limbs seemed to be slowly reconnecting, and he could even clearly feel the flesh of his severed tongue regenerating...
"No!"
"This dog-shit thing can even self-repair?"
Realizing this, Li Yu felt terrible.
