Chapter 80: The Little Nun's Unforgettable Memory
This world is full of disputes, such as those between the Three Kingdoms and the City of Ten Thousand Blessings, or the distinctions between righteous and evil.
Li Yu had no time, nor any interest, in participating.
He risked his life to snatch the Demon Star Token simply to enter the Spirit Realm of the Strange Domain, so that he could obtain subsequent secret medicine formulas and smoothly cultivate the Spirit Venerable path.
To achieve this, besides the elusive "opportunity," there was another shortcut: merit points.
As of now!
In this Strange Domain of Mount Zhangyi, he had already obtained three thousand three hundred merit points.
One thousand three hundred of those were earned through his own efforts.
The other two thousand were swindled by pretending to be a sword cultivator.
"Just this one trip, and the costs for four types of elixir formulas have been earned back twofold. Moreover, whether it's for purchasing the secret medicine formula for the Sequence Seven [Alchemist] or for the advancement ritual, it is already enough."
"Fragrant, it's just too fragrant."
"However, I don't mind having more merit points. Besides, I can't really follow this group of Righteous God sect practitioners to storm that True Lord Temple. I'll first think of a way to slip away, then head to the Ancient Sage Academy mountain area to wait for an opportunity to trigger that special main quest... That way, I can maximize my benefits."
"An excuse is easy to find; after all, it's normal for a sword cultivator to like being a lone wolf."
In the blink of an eye, Li Yu had a new plan in his heart.
But just as he intended to speak, an accident suddenly occurred.
At the highest point of this mountain area, the suspected territory of the [True Lord Temple], a thunderous roar suddenly erupted.
A towering, mottled stone pagoda could be vaguely seen collapsing abruptly.
It seemed to have triggered some mechanism, as a massive amount of blood mixed with filthy corpses poured down. In the blink of an eye, a terrifying flash flood erupted, and within that murky filth, there were clearly terrifying shadows flowing downstream, heading straight for this mountain stream.
Not long after, the sounds of fighting briefly ceased.
From high above, a tall woman dressed in a shamaness robe embroidered with various birds flew out abruptly and shouted across the air:
"Quickly get away from the Shanhe River!"
"Those Miren pushed over a demon-suppressing pagoda outside the temple. Inside the pagoda were all the demon creatures the old devil cultivated back then; they are extremely fierce, do not underestimate them."
Hearing this, the few of them subconsciously wanted to leave the mountain stream area.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
The flash flood was extremely fast, arriving in a few breaths.
By the time they heard the sound, the deep mountain stream beside them had already surged upward. Seven or eight powerful demons lurking at the bottom, having smelled the scent of fresh flesh from the people on the cliff, roared and tumbled out of the water.
Their mere appearance gave the group a great shock.
Each one wore a sodden Daoist robe, but they had completely lost their human appearance.
One demon had limbs that were swollen and degenerated, crawling on the ground. Its head had completely mutated into some kind of aquatic monster, and even its hair had turned into venomous snakes flicking their tongues. Highly toxic Qi condensed into substance, swirling around it.
Another demon looked exactly like a giant toad standing upright, yet it wore a Daoist hat and clutched a rusted iron ruyi in its hand. With a light leap, it was as fast as thunder, its figure difficult for the naked eye to track.
There was another demon, its whole body rotting and embedded with fish scales the size of copper coins. One arm was grafted with half a dragon-like torso, forming a symbiotic relationship. The human and the dragon let out painful roars together, possessing boundless ferocity.
However, the most terrifying demon among them was a "Demon Daoist" who retained the most human characteristics.
It was slightly hunched, and its Daoist robe was soaked through, revealing the knotted muscles beneath. Its human head was gone, replaced by a scarred, hairless ape's head that had been stitched on.
At its waist, it actually hung a scarlet magic sword.
Who could have imagined?
A demon actually possessed a high cultivation base in swordsmanship.
In the rush, the five of them didn't have time to escape and were besieged by the demons.
Some faced one, while others were unlucky enough to be targeted by two demons at once.
Li Yu was among the lucky ones; in front of him was only one ugly demon covered in holes, with "yellow eels" crawling in and out of them.
And the unlucky one was Miao Chang.
Perhaps because she was the most delicate and tender of the group, a sword-ape and that toad demon appeared before her.
On the little nun's face, a pitiful expression appeared once again, and she was frantically using her teleportation ability to dodge the encirclement of the two demons.
This scene!
It was not only seen by Li Yu, but by everyone else as well, including the powerhouse high above called Qing Nu.
She was a Sequence Seven [Shaman Priestess] of the Spirit-Responding Yuanjun; her expression should have been holy and cold, but at this moment, it turned into panic and anger.
"Sister Miao Chang!"
Before the words had even faded, she was already rushing over frantically.
Unfortunately, distant water cannot quench a nearby fire.
Although the little nun's own divine abilities and foundation were both excellent.
In these few breaths, besides the teleportation ability, she had also unleashed methods like "Buddha Sound Subduing Demons" and "Buddha Light Illuminating All," and she also had protective magic treasures on her body. Even after being struck repeatedly, it was just a chaotic clanging sound, and she remained unharmed.
But the two demons besieging her!
Their abilities were all above the ordinary Sequence Eight.
In just a short moment, they had exhausted all the protective measures on her body.
Accompanied by a cracking sound, a Buddha pendant on her body shattered, her tender body was immediately exposed, and a sword light landed on her in an instant.
With a squelching sound, fresh blood splattered everywhere.
The crazed and bloodthirsty "Sword-Ape Demon Daoist" did not understand anything about cherishing the fair sex; it shifted over, intending to tear off one of Miao Chang's snow-white arms to gnaw on.
Fortunately, there is also food-snatching behavior among demons.
That toad demon suddenly let out an earth-shattering "croak," which actually stunned the sword-ape from a distance.
It took the opportunity to leap over, entering between the two, and kicked out with its two frog legs to the left and right.
With two "bangs," immense force erupted.
The sword-ape was kicked like a cannonball toward Qing Nu, who was just flying over. And the little nun was kicked toward the murky water of the mountain stream.
Seeing this scene!
Everyone realized that among this group of demons, the most ferocious was the sword-ape, but the most treacherous was this toad demon.
Truly as cunning as a ghost!
Yet at this moment, the others were also entangled, and there was simply no one who could save Miao Chang.
The little nun seemed to have guessed her own end; her body was about to fall into the mountain stream, and before her eyes was another toad demon pouncing toward her with a hideous grin.
At the moment of death, the tension she had been holding onto finally gave way.
Her snow-white face was full of grievance and pity, tears rolled in her beautiful eyes, and a crying thought echoed in her mind:
"Master!"
"Miao Chang is going to die."
And just as this thought of hers fell.

An accident happened again.
A sword whistle that resounded through the sky suddenly rose. On the cliff, that sword cultivator called "Ren Shou," who had always been taciturn, was seen.
Suddenly, he risked taking a blow from the yellow-eel demon to use its force to shoot toward the mountain stream.
On the way, he seemed to have unleashed some kind of ability, accelerating a second time, and the sword light exploded in the void.
Arriving after the others but reaching first, he grabbed Miao Chang before the toad demon could.
But his back was also directly exposed to the toad demon.
The next moment!
Only a "bang" was heard. Before the little nun could react, Li Yu had already sprayed a large mouthful of blood onto her chest.
Just as she was about to cry out, a great force violently wrapped around her body and then threw her toward the shore.
The toad demon saw this and was extremely unwilling; what it wanted was the most tender "blood food," not this one covered in thorns.
So it saw this demon wanting to step on Li Yu to jump up and grab the little nun back.
But as soon as its frog legs landed, they were caught firmly by a fair palm.
"With me, Ren Shou, here, you cannot hurt her."
"Bang."
When the voice fell, the person and the demon were both exhausted, and they fell together toward the bottom of the mountain stream, which had become deep once again.
Accompanied by a muffled sound, and the sounds of fighting that rose and quickly subsided at the bottom of the water.
Whether it was Li Yu or the toad demon, both had disappeared without a trace.
"Brother Ren!"
Miao Chang, who had just landed on the cliff, was now full of anxiety, her mind still echoing with the figure who had risked his life to save her, and that final sentence.
She had completely forgotten that there was still a group of demons around.
Fortunately, at this time, that Sequence Seven "Qing Nu" had already arrived in anger.
Before landing, she first used magic to summon phantom images of divine birds full of spirituality from her robe, and before long, she had slaughtered all the remaining demons, including that most ferocious sword-ape.
When she went to Miao Chang's side, she happened to see the little nun's figure jumping toward the bottom of the mountain stream again.
She hurriedly shifted over to catch her, but did not return to the shore, instead following the momentum to the bottom of the cliff and beginning to cast spells to investigate.
Clearly!
She had also seen the scene of Li Yu saving someone in a desperate situation just now.
Although she hadn't seen Li Yu's face clearly, the characteristics of that sword cultivator were as obvious as they could be.
"What a fine fellow Daoist!"
"Even among sword cultivators, such an extraordinary existence is rare."
"Such a hero must absolutely not die at the hands of demons; even if there is only one breath left, we must spare no cost in using high-grade wondrous items to save him."
This thought had barely arisen in Qing Nü's heart before it quickly ended in disappointment.
She and the others, along with a group of spirit bird phantoms, searched for a full hour and even went ahead to intercept at the entrances of other mountain areas, yet they found no one, not even a corpse.
"Sister, please restrain your grief!"
"That fellow Daoist Ren must have... must have used a forbidden technique with a heavy price to save you, and after entering the water, he was harmed by that toad demon."
"Sister, since you knew him in reality, once we leave the Strange Domain, you must inform his friends and family..."
Qing Nü had not yet finished these words.
Only a "waa" sound was heard as the little nun, who had held it in for an hour, finally burst into tears.
"I... I didn't even know Brother Ren before."
"I only made a deal with Brother Ren; he gave me three Fallen Buddha Treasures, and I temporarily lent him a storage magic treasure."
"We had an agreement that after we got out, he would come to the Shuiyue Nunnery to find me and trade back my personal sachet."
"Why would he give up his own life to save me?"
"What about our agreement... will I still be able to see Brother Ren?"
Hearing this, Qing Nü and the others who had arrived later all wore expressions of shock and admiration.
Some among them knew the little nun, but asking themselves, if it came to saving someone at the cost of their own life in a moment of life and death, they could not do it.
Yet, they had not expected!
A fellow Daoist who had just met had done exactly that.
In everyone's heart, they could not help but remember the name "Ren Shou."
