Chapter 15: The Correct Mindset for Dealing with Tasks

When the eldest brother's career hinders the second brother's development, and the effort and harvest are not proportional, sustainable development may break at any time.

Lin Bai decisively decided to cut off the wrist to save the arm.

One is not young if one is not willful.

Lin Bai possesses too many systems, and his energy is limited; it is impossible to spend too much energy and time on any single system.

He must ensure that he spends the minimum cost on each system to obtain the maximum benefit.

In the end, the eldest brother! The systems! The emotions! They are all tools serving him.

If a tool is handy, he continues to use it; if it is not, he discards it and replaces it with another.

Doing system tasks is to allow him to live a better life, and life is not for doing tasks for the systems.

The relationship between the two must be made clear; it must absolutely not be reversed.

……

"You play games for fun, while I do tasks to survive. The right to life takes priority; happiness should make way for life." After making the decision to get rid of his eldest brother, Lin Bai sighed forlornly, finding an excuse to comfort himself.

To the natives of the world, he is a transmigrator.

To the players, he is an NPC.

The awkwardness of his identity Positioning dictates that he is a loner.

In order to live a better life, he must always maintain an optimistic, positive, and upward-looking mindset.

After all.

He is still very weak at present; one wrong step, and his life might end.

……

The eldest brother, Lao Mi, found a profession on his own, letting Lin Bai freeload three points of Qi Luck Value.

This gave him enough confidence.

Yesterday, he bought a Haunted House, but ended up unscathed, resolving it smoothly without even using a full day.

This made Lin Bai realize that Qi Luck was indeed working on him, turning bad luck into good and meeting danger with fortune.

Therefore.

He felt that he would definitely have good luck today.

……

Currently, the ongoing tasks are: the Chef God System's opening a restaurant; the Emotion System's collecting Positive Emotion; the Wanwu Youque System's Internal Energy task; and the Chief Supporting Role System's task of giving the eldest brother faith.

The highest priority should be the Wanwu Youque System's Internal Energy task and the Emotion System's Positive Emotion task.

The collection of Positive Emotion does indeed have benefits for the reward of Temperament.

But Lin Bai has already experienced the benefits of Mental Value; a few points of Spirit can make him full of energy and clear-headed, supporting him until late at night before feeling sleepy.

High Mental Value is very likely to further shorten the time needed for sleep.

During the closed beta, there are few players, so dealing with them is not that troublesome.

Once the open beta is released, the number of players will surge, and his time will definitely not be enough; he must have enough energy to deal with the players.

To grow faster than the players, he must become a "liver emperor" among NPCs.

Therefore.

For the current Lin Bai, Spirit is more important than Temperament.

He believes it is necessary for him to quickly grind through the Positive Emotion collection task, and it is definitely not because he prefers collecting Negative Emotion.

And the Internal Energy task is to escort Lin Bai.

After all, the task of collecting Negative Emotion offends too many people and is prone to getting him beaten to death.

These two complement each other and must progress together.

……

Waking up in the early morning.

Alright! Waking up in the mid-morning.

After formulating his work plan for the day, Lin Bai felt great and pushed open the door: "Waiter, bring a basin of water; I need to wash up."

"Coming, guest."

The waiter's voice came from afar.

A moment later.

A knock came at the door.

Lin Bai opened the door.

Carrying half a basin of water, the expressionless waiter immediately piled a fake smile onto his face: "Guest, here is your water."

"Thanks." Lin Bai smiled, "Put it on the stool."

"Alright." The waiter entered the room, placed the water on the stool, and turned to leave.

"Wait." Lin Bai called out to him.

"Does the guest have any other instructions?" The waiter stopped reflexively.

"A tip for you." Lin Bai looked at the waiter with a smile, ten copper coins lying prominently in his palm.

【Joy from Liu Chun, +1】

"Many thanks, guest." Liu Chun beamed, his fake smile suddenly becoming vivid; he took the copper coins, nodded and bowed to Lin Bai, "If the guest has any other needs, just instruct this small one."

Sure enough, no matter when, "pay-to-win" is a shortcut to growth!

Through the system prompt, Lin Bai learned his name and smiled: "No need to thank me, it's deserved. Liu Chun, I have traveled north and south for so many years, and you are the most spirited waiter I have ever seen. Your clothes are clean and appropriate, you are honest, understand the rules, and work efficiently; it makes one feel comfortable for no reason."

【Joy from Liu Chun, +1】

"Thank you for the praise, guest." Liu Chun's smile became even more sincere, and he scratched his head foolishly, "This small one isn't as good as you say."

"Your perspective is too narrow." Lin Bai shook his head, smiling even more kindly than the waiter.

"Perspective?" The waiter was stunned.

"Yes, perspective." Lin Bai nodded affirmatively. He glanced at the water basin placed on the stool and said sincerely, "You can fool others, but you can't fool me. When you work for guests, you are meticulous in placing items. When guests summon you, you arrive at once without a hint of complaint. When you are idle and have nothing to do, you are always observing how the manager runs the place, and the current needs and states of every customer. Therefore, you must be secretly learning how to manage a business. Though your body is idle, your mind is not. Tsk tsk, you are a person who puts in effort..."

Is that so?

So my hard work was actually seen by the guest?

So my daydreaming was actually that profound?

The waiter was stunned for a moment, then nodded affirmatively. That's right, it must be like this; otherwise, the guest wouldn't have said so. He even remembered my name!

【Joy from Liu Chun +1】

Lin Bai raised his eyebrows nonchalantly and looked at the waiter with an appreciative gaze: "Liu Chun! You might not know it, but you have countless shining points on you that you may not have discovered yourself. I think highly of you. Believe in my judgment; your future will not stop at being a waiter. Keep at it, and one day, you will own an inn of your own..."

【Confidence from Liu Chun +1】

The waiter's chest puffed out.

Squeeze every drop out of the toad; as long as the waiter could provide Positive Emotion, Lin Bai didn't mind saying a few more nice things.

In any case, both sides gained something.

The waiter gained affirmation and recognition, as well as expectations for the future.

And he gained progress on his task.

This was a win-win.

"Waiter, bring a pot of tea." Another voice came from outside.

"Go on!" Lin Bai waved his hand, "Don't let your important business be delayed."

"Then I'll go. Guest, if you have any instructions, tell me anytime; I'll be there at your call." The waiter's smile became increasingly sincere. No one dislikes serving a customer who appreciates them, and there was even a tip.

At this moment, he was no longer that waiter who just got by.

Instead, he was a waiter with a goal, optimistic, confident, full of hope for the future, and one who must be diligent in his work.

"That is only natural." Lin Bai smiled, "There will be a tip if you do a good job."

【Joy from Liu Chun, +1】

"A tip is not necessary; it's all what I should do." The waiter smiled bashfully, "You don't have to be so polite."

"It should be given. It's building a good connection, and it can be considered me adding bricks and tiles to your future career," Lin Bai insisted.

Task value bought with money is the most cost-effective.

After all.

The difficulty of system tasks is progressive. When collecting large amounts of emotion in the future, "verbal combat" won't be as useful. At that time, throwing money around will be the shortcut.

Therefore.

Lin Bai felt it was very necessary to make his wallet substantial.

He remembered that in the system reserves, there was also a Tycoon System. If this system were opened, it would be the best partner for the Emotion System. Unfortunately, he didn't know how to unlock the subsequent systems.

【Joy from Liu Chun, +1】

The waiter left. Before leaving, he still provided a bit of Positive Emotion for Lin Bai.

【Collect ten instances of Positive Emotion triggered by you (9/10), Reward: Temperament +3】.

The waiter alone provided six points of Positive Emotion.

One has to say.

As long as one puts in the effort, any kind of task can be completed quickly.

After a simple wash, Lin Bai walked out of the shop feeling refreshed, deciding to treat the day's tasks seriously.

If he was a devil yesterday while collecting Negative Emotion, then today, he was an angel delivering warmth to the world.
