Chapter 1051: A Month of Filming Cycle; Golden Horse Nomination; Start Filming

"Exclusively produced by Lin Nan Pictures, directed by Lu Yang, the large-scale ancient fantasy action martial arts film *A Writer's Odyssey* released a casting announcement today;

The film is led by Lei Jiayin, Jing Tian, Zhang Ruoyun, Yu Hewei, Guo Jingfei, and others, supplemented by the Tiangong Color special effects team, and will present a real martial arts fantasy feast for the vast number of film fans and audiences!"

"Han Dao Jia's film *The Unnamed* held a grand premiere ceremony in Beijing this morning; although it is her first time directing, her control of the scene revealed unparalleled confidence and strength, boasting to aim for 1 billion box office..."

"According to foreign media, it has been confirmed that international action superstar Jackie Chan is among the members of the *Mulan* crew. This was obtained by relevant media reporters using high-power telescopes to look from a distance outside the crew."

"At 9 AM, the *Mulan* crew issued a solemn warning to the outside world:

It is forbidden for any unscrupulous media to fly aerial drones outside 'Mulan Village' for secret filming without permission and approval from relevant departments. The crew has reported the matter to the police..."

"The official website of the Film Bureau issued an announcement: It has been confirmed that Director Jiang Wen's film *Hidden Man* will represent the mainland to sign up for the competition for the Best Foreign Language Film Award at the 91st Academy Awards..."

At noon, past 12 o'clock, several commercial vehicles drove into "Mulan Village", Watching Shu Chang arrived.

While Liu Yifei and Liu Yan went to welcome their friends, Lin Nan and the others were chatting and laughing with Andy On, who had just arrived not long ago.

"Before that time when I had tea with Big Brother Jackie Chan, I just mentioned it casually, saying that I needed an actor to play the elder brother of my character in *Mulan*, preferably an action actor, and then he recommended you, and Director Yuan also said you were great.

This role exists because of the existence of my character, the scenes are not many, but it is depicted very completely, and it is also a role with a beginning and an end..."

"Very good, I never pick, not to mention coming to be a match for Lin Dao. Also thank Lin Dao for giving me this opportunity, and thank Big Brother and Eight Master for their recommendation." Andy On agreed with a smile.

"The beginning and end in Lin Dao's mouth is to let you die on the battlefield." On the side, Jackie Chan joked with a smile. Andy On smiled and nodded completely.

"For a big commercial film, literary scenes are indispensable. My line is one of the only two literary lines, so naturally, it must be embellished to make it full, at least reasonable." Lin Nan explained self-consistently.

Twelve volumes of military books, Mulan can only replace her father to join the army, so why can her childhood sweetheart stay?

Naturally, there is an elder brother who carries everything, carrying it for the aging father and the young brother, even if this younger brother wants to follow Mulan to the battlefield, but it is not allowed!

The setting of the two brothers is one martial and one literary, the latter has a gentle personality, is not good at fists and kicks, has read books... grew up with Mulan as childhood sweethearts, and was engaged. The survival probability on the battlefield is far lower than that of the elder brother.

"Lin Dao, Han Dao called, she will board the plane in an hour and a half, I have notified the motorcade to calculate the time and pick her up in advance." While the big guys were chatting and laughing, the assistant approached.

"Han Dao?" Jackie Chan and Yuen Woo-ping didn't react.

"Not Old Han, it's his daughter Han Dao Jia." Guo Fan joked.

"But isn't *The Unnamed* holding a premiere? At this time, the lunch banquet has just started, right?" Yuen Woo-ping asked puzzledly, Jackie Chan also had a confused face.

"You don't understand her, she definitely threw the stall of the premiere to Chairman Han, and then retired halfway to rush to the airport. Her own father is used like this, hahaha..."

Lin Nan couldn't stop laughing, his mind could already fully imagine the appearance of Old Han being teased and ridiculed at the premiere scene; it was absolutely full of complaints, but he couldn't vent it, and he had to accompany a group of people in the circle to laugh, especially enduring the ridicule of Ren Zhonglun and others.

"Then this little Han Dao is indeed quite characterful, haha." Yuen Woo-ping nodded with a smile.

"After filming starts, you guys will know, that is a tiger father without a dog daughter. Well, Han Jia and I are both assistant directors of *Mulan*." Guo Fan joked.

"Hello hello, everyone, can we eat?" Far away, Watching Shu Chang and the three were greeting this side.

Hearing the sound, the big guys stood up with tacit understanding, just waiting to eat, haha...

On the evening of the 26th, past six o'clock, Han Jia brought two assistants and rushed to the *Mulan* crew in a hurry. So, there was another bonfire banquet in the evening.

On the 27th, ordinary extras moved into Mulan Village one car after another, and the temporary tents that could be lived in inside and outside were built in an orderly manner in an instant.

On the 28th, before two o'clock in the afternoon, all the actors participating in the early scenes of the film *Mulan*, without exception, all arrived...

Up to this point, there were only two days left before the official start of *Mulan*.

On the morning of the 29th, the overwhelming "black drafts" mocking Yang Mi on the whole internet entered the eyes of the entire film and television industry and countless melon-eating netizens on the internet.

Most people reacted afterwards: at 4 AM domestic time today, that is, after 9 PM on the 28th Spanish time, the closing ceremony of the San Sebastian International Film Festival concluded successfully, but Yang Mi and the *Baby* crew...

"The 66th San Sebastian International Film Festival concluded at dawn domestic time today. In this film festival, the only Chinese film *Baby* shortlisted for the main competition section stopped at the nomination and won nothing."

"Actor Yang Mi shed tears in Spain, and finally missed the Best Actress of an international A-list film festival, and still needs to make persistent efforts to prepare for the next international film festival journey..."

"Oh my, tsk tsk tsk, marketing and creating momentum for two months, it was really slapped back."

"The San Sebastian Film Festival is known as the A-list film festival most friendly to Chinese films, even more than the Shanghai Film Festival. And it won nothing? What does this mean? This means that the quality of this film and the acting skills of the lead actor are absolutely at the bottom among all the shortlisted films!"

"Scheduled for October 19th? This scheduling announcement is also too low-key, right? Is it because they know it won't be liked by everyone?"

"To be honest, the reason for not winning the Best Actress at the San Sebastian International Film Festival might be because the name of this film festival is not as good as the Houston International Film Festival? Of course, the Houston Best Actress is better to hear, and it also matches Yang Mi better!"

"No wonder the marketing of the draft stopped after the film festival was halfway through? Is it intentional to keep a low profile? Tsk tsk tsk..."

Various ridicules against Yang Mi on the internet suppressed the popularity of all other film and television entertainment information.

Even people with discerning eyes could see the traces of people in the circle pushing the waves in this wave of sound.

It can only be said that she deserves it, who let her market herself excessively, others naturally want to take advantage of the moment you are backlashed, add fuel to the fire and kill you!

Lin Nan and Tian Zhuangzhuang walked side by side on the drill ground, the former finally talked about *The Tree King*, but the latter didn't care at all.

"Don't worry about this matter. I have never deliberately exaggerated or distorted, I just tell it truthfully, telling it slowly, just like fragments cut out from memories.

And this script is just other stories against the background of that era, and will not face those sensitive problems directly."

Damn, the words that big director Lin brewed for a long time were directly pushed back.

"But I heard some things from Han Jia, it was Chairman Han who heard from the leader, the censorship in the future will be very harsh..."

Tian Zhuangzhuang just nodded and didn't speak. He signaled Lin Nan to go to the next "scenic spot" and continue to visit this Mulan Village covering more than 300 mu.

Well, big director Lin had nothing to say. But thinking about it, why does Tian Zhuangzhuang "like" stories from that era so much? There is a reason for this, because when he was young, he witnessed his own father and mother being violently taken away in front of him not once, but many times, being... clearly not having made a mistake.

"How long do you plan to complete the filming of this film?"

"4 months. Because it is impossible to press everyone to stay in the crew and ignore other things. Of course, this also includes me." Lin Nan answered frankly, his face a bit thick.

"It's been almost 16 years since you entered the industry, 4 months of filming time, this should be your longest filming cycle, right?"

"Well, it is indeed the longest planned time. To say something unpleasant, I don't even dare to guarantee that *Mulan* can wrap up smoothly when *The Wandering Earth* is released.

Maybe, I still have to ask for leave to attend the premiere of my own film, haha..."

With Lin Nan's laughter, Tian Zhuangzhuang also shook his head with a smile. He saw it, Lin Nan was planning to take it slow. Of course, it was Disney's money, no rush.

The phone in his pocket vibrated abruptly, big director Lin touched it subconsciously, glanced: "Sister Teacher Gong Li?"

"Teacher Gong Li? I remember her scenes are not in the early stage?!" Tian Zhuangzhuang asked.

"Sister Teacher Gong Li's scenes start from the middle stage. She is a person of the Rouran tribe of the enemy. This call... I think it should be the Golden Horse Award, right?" Lin Nan muttered and connected.

"Sister Teacher Gong Li?"

"Lin Dao, congratulations in advance. The nomination list will be announced tomorrow morning, the main force is basically mainland films, especially *Dying to Survive* and *Shadow*..."

Teacher Gong Li's voice carried a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, as if she was telling Lin Nan about a trivial matter.

In her view, with the quality of mainland films, they should completely sweep this Golden Horse Award. But hindered by the selfishness of Li Ang and some preliminary judges in Taiwan, a Taiwan film was deliberately raised, but the gap was still very obvious...

"This morning, Director Zhang Yimou's film *Shadow*, Happy Mahua comedy film *Hello Mr. Billionaire*, Hong Kong crime suspense action film *Project Gutenberg*, and Han Dao Jia's black absurd comedy film *The Unnamed*, four films landed on national cinemas at the same time, strongly opening the National Day slot..."

"It is reported that among the four National Day commercial blockbusters, *Hello Mr. Billionaire* is the most expected by the market, so the comprehensive screening rate ranks first, at 35.8%;

*Shadow* ranks second, at 22.4%; *Project Gutenberg* ranks third, at 18%; because *The Unnamed* is Han Dao Jia's film debut, the comprehensive screening rate is relatively the lowest, only 16%."

"Director Stephen Chow's film, the sequel to the classic IP *King of Comedy*, *The New King of Comedy*, started filming low-key at the Foshan Xiqiao National Art Film and Television City this morning."

"According to gossip in the industry: the real-life ancient costume, action, epic, war film *Mulan*, exclusively produced by Disney and directed by Lin Dao Nan, starring Liu Yifei, will also officially start filming this afternoon..."

On the 30th, four commercial blockbusters were released, and two big director films started filming. The entire Chinese film circle was prosperous and lively.

And at 10 AM, the nomination announcement released by the Golden Horse Award made this atmosphere go up another level, making this National Day slot extremely hot!

"The nomination list for the 55th Golden Horse Awards was officially announced today:

Among them, Director Zhang Yimou's film *Shadow* leads the way with 12 nominations.

Its core award nominations include: Best Film Award, Best Director Award, Best Actor Award, Best Actress Award, Best Adapted Screenplay Award;

In addition, this Golden Horse Award is the first time Director Zhang Yimou has been nominated for a Golden Horse-related award in his decades of film career, and it is also the first time that the couple Deng Chao and Sun Li have been nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress with the same film.

Lin Dao Nan's film *Dying to Survive*, core award nominations include: Best Film Award, Best Director Award, Best Actor Award, Best Supporting Actor Award, Best Original Screenplay Award!

It is reported that this Golden Horse Award is the second time Lin Dao Nan has been nominated for the Best Director Award, and it is also expected that he can win this award for the second time...

Director Jiang Wen's film *Hidden Man*, core award nominations only include Best Director Award and Best Supporting Actress Award.

..."

"What is worth looking forward to is that this Golden Horse Awards ceremony is the first time Lin Dao Nan and Director Zhang Yimou have competed directly on film awards, and it is also the first personal award confrontation between Director Jiang Wen and Zhang Yimou, and it is also a rare competition between three big directors on the same stage...

Also, Director Jiang Wen was defeated by Lin Dao Nan at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival!"

The internet was discussing heatedly, but the film industry was cursing: "Damn, which small newspaper is this? What kind of emotional intelligence is this? What is called I was defeated by Lin Nan? That didn't..."

"That didn't even meet!"

Zhou Yun smiled speechlessly, directly making Jiang Wen dumb. Yes, one only reached the step of being shortlisted for the main competition section, and one won the Golden Bear and Silver Bear Best Actor.

"Since Golden Horse nominated, then we will go on this trip. Although the pressure is not small, one of my advantages is resisting pressure... still a bit expectant."

Jiang Wen nodded at Zhou Yun, his tone no longer had the "explosive" just now.

Exactly the same as Jiang Wen, Zhang Yimou's studio also had feedback.

For the Chinese three major awards he hadn't won, big director Zhang could still raise a little bit of interest. Plus the organizing committee chairman this year was Li Ang, and the jury president was Teacher Gong Li...

"Dad, I have a premonition that you and Lin Dao will be the most direct and final competitors. After all, Director Li Ang and Aunt Teacher Gong Li have a very good relationship with you two, and you two are also the two top big directors in the Chinese film circle."

Zhang Mo said with a smile, without any exaggeration or flattery in her tone.

"You communicate and discuss with Deng Chao and the others, and then arrange the Golden Horse itinerary for the crew." Zhang Yimou showed a smile, as if he didn't hear those words of Zhang Mo, and ordered lightly.

"Understood, I'll go and give Director Deng, no, he seems to be directing a play, I'll call Sun Li, and also congratulate her."

Happy Mahua, Xu Zheng's emotions rose again.

The last time was when *Dying to Survive* was shortlisted for the main competition section of the Shanghai Film Festival, and this time the hope was obviously greater than last time. Because the nomination was precise to the individual award, precise to him.

"Carefully consider, the only ones who can compete with you are Deng Chao and Duan Yihong, the other two little young people can't get up at all. And in terms of film subject and box office performance, *Dying to Survive* is inherently invincible, the advantage is too obvious!"

Dong Ping analyzed eagerly on the side. Of course, he was also speaking from the heart. No matter how you look at it, this was the time when Xu Zheng had the best chance, the closest to the award!

"I don't know what the reaction is on Lin Dao's side right now? He should be preparing for the start of filming, right?" Xu Zheng smiled and nodded slightly, pulling up big director Lin.

*Mulan* crew.

From the morning, all morning, all actors were doing makeup, reading scripts, warming up, and integrating into the environment.

Of course, those who didn't have scenes after filming started in the afternoon were automatically excluded from the makeup link.

In Liu Yifei's dressing room, Lin Nan had just hung up Zhang Yu's phone.

The latter was nominated for the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor, so he specifically called to thank the director and screenwriter;

And looking at the screenwriter Han Jia, at this moment, she was already showing off. Because it was obvious, the Best Original Screenplay Award would be her bag!

"Does it mean that in November, we have to give the *Mulan* crew a few days off, so that we can attend the Golden Horse Awards ceremony?!" Han Jia asked excitedly.

"That's not necessary, some less important location shots and scenes can be directed by Guo Fan, limited to the few days we go to attend the Golden Horse Awards."

Lin Nan said seriously. The shots that Guo Fan can direct are naturally those parts that do not involve the main actors, such as scout reconnaissance, soldier marching, scene conversion, etc.

"Can look forward to it, how many awards can we win this time?" In front of the dressing mirror, Liu Yifei was also in a very good mood.

"That's naturally all of them!" Han Jia stretched out her right hand to make a bold gesture of grabbing, giggling. Liu was also amused by her, calling her to be a lady.

And Lin Nan, his thoughts had already drifted away unconsciously, drifted to Hollywood, "Tom..."
