Chapter 1113: A lone rider in the summer slot; getting a master's degree?

In the first three days of the weekend, the summer slot was in full swing.

"Ne Zha" led the summer slot strongly with a box office of 195 million on the first day, 232 million on the second day, and 289 million on the third day, totaling 716 million.

Next was Ning Hao's "The Father", 154 million, 165 million, 178 million, the positive word-of-mouth of the film reviews continued to stack and ferment, and the momentum was strong and rapid.

And that Hong Kong film "The White Storm 2" also rarely showed a box office prospect that made the Hong Kong circle gratified, 135 million, 150 million, 138 million, this time it should be able to steadily pass 1 billion box office, right?

"Watching 'Ne Zha' for the second time, this animated film is too magical, it's completely different from those traditional hot-blooded ones before; anyway, it's very alternative, making people's eyes shine, with a bit of an impulse that makes people unable to stop."

"Easter egg, easter egg, where is this an easter egg, this is clearly telling you: get ready to buy the movie ticket for the second part."

"I think the box office of this 'Ne Zha' might explode, because this is completely a big animated film suitable for all ages, killing all age groups; and everyone's IQ is online, not low-IQ!"

"I feel like too many foreshadowings were buried, but it's still very exciting. I am especially looking forward to the second part now, I think there will definitely be a large-scale in-depth expansion in the plot, right?!"

"Is no one going to review 'The Father'? It's very realistic, very profound, isn't it? It's not the kind of suffering film that makes people cry, it's the fatherly love that penetrates the bones bit by bit, it's the family affection that infects the soul, making people feel moved, immersed in it, questioning the soul..."

"He was young, he was strong, now he is just old, but he still stubbornly thinks he is the person who can shelter from the wind and rain; he is escaping the reality that he is already a burden to his daughter, he hides himself in the past years, trapped in the memory of time..."

"He is a father, this is also fatherly love, please cherish..."

"This film could have completely won the Golden Lion Award, Lin Dao was too unhelpful last year."

"One film winning an award and four people winning awards for two films, Lin Dao clearly struggled ideologically; in the end, he gave up the Golden Lion Award in exchange for four Silver Lion Awards. For the two Chinese films participating in the competition, this is undoubtedly the most perfect result."

"I have a hunch that the Best Film of this summer slot will likely be Director Ning's 'The Father'. As for the ownership of the box office champion, this is hard to fight for, at least it can't fight 'Ne Zha' released on the same day..."

"'The White Storm 2' is mediocre, it's just a typical standard, boutique Hong Kong film; the experience might be good when watching, but after watching, it really doesn't leave much memory point..."

……

Three days passed in a row, and Director Ning could be said to be physically and mentally happy. Just because inside and outside the circle, whether it was industry insiders or netizens and movie fans, everyone was full of praise for him.

Admittedly, although "The Father" cannot be the box office champion of the summer slot, it will definitely be the champion in film review word-of-mouth!

"After the summer slot ends, notify Tencent and Weibo about Wanda, and ask for their willingness. If there are no accidents, both of them will definitely want to eat it.

After getting their affirmative reply, we will determine a special time to sit together and discuss how to distribute Wanda's approximately 12.28% shares."

"Then what is your willingness?" On the phone, Wang Changtian's tone was a bit solemn.

"I have no thoughts on Wanda's shares. I already have 31.217% of the shares, which is already absolute right of speech. There is really no need to eat more shares." Lin Nan didn't hide it. What he thought in his heart was what he said at this moment.

"On the morning of the 5th, I held a meeting with several core executives of the company. Enlight's willingness is to eat a part of it."

Hearing Wang Changtian's words, Lin Nan didn't feel surprised at all, because he had guessed it before, "I estimate that this so-called eating a part of yours is not much, right?"

"That's right, we already have 11.5%, so naturally we can't want more. Furthermore, Enlight also has to consider things later as much as possible, and keep funds.

You know what I'm referring to, that's the big head; even if we want to issue new shares, we can't rely entirely on issuing new shares, we also have to consider the fluctuation of the stock price."

"Understood, then we'll talk about it when the time comes. But I estimate Wang Wei also has some thoughts, later it will likely be a tug-of-war between the four of you."

"Don't say it's a tug-of-war between the four of us, when the time comes, you and the people from Wanda must also be present!"

"Haha, of course."

Not long after, Wang Changtian took the initiative to hang up the phone; it seemed that the secretary had led Deng Chao over. There were only 10 days left until the public screening of "Looking Up".

After closing his eyes and resting for a good while, Lin Nan raised his hand and glanced at the time on his watch; it was already 11 o'clock in the morning. At this time, the phone on the side finally vibrated again.

"Finally waited for your call, it's already 11 o'clock, are you coming back for lunch?" Lin Nan asked Liu Yifei with a smile.

"After finishing the prenatal check-up in a while, Mom and I will eat outside. As for you, find a way to solve your own lunch, hee hee."

"Fine, I really guessed it right, Liu Yifei, you scumbag, haha..." Accompanied by the laughter of Miss Liu on the phone, Lin Nan also couldn't stop laughing.

A moment later, Lin Dao drove the car and drove straight out of the manor villa. And at the same time, Yue Jun, Hou Hongliang, and others had already taken their seats in the restaurant box.

"Looking at the momentum of the film market, the new box office record for domestic animated films will probably be born in at most three or four days, right? And this time, the new box office record will likely be raised by a large margin, or even doubled." Hou Hongliang raised his glass to congratulate.

"I can only say that I accept your auspicious words, Producer Hou, I hope so." Yue Jun smiled, but didn't be humble.

Looking at the side, besides the accompanying staff, it was Reba. She was one of the protagonists today, just waiting for the nod from Daylight Entertainment. Of course, using the words Producer Liu said to her before, today she just needed to go through the motions.

Sure enough, after the waiter in the restaurant finished serving the dishes and retreated, Yue Jun started chatting with Hou Hongliang about "Like a Flowing River 2".

Still following the old rules, both sides each accounted for half of the investment share, with Daylight Entertainment responsible for production, and Lin Nan Pictures responsible for docking with Tudou.

In addition, unlike the first part, Lin Nan Pictures specifically named and requested the only female role among the four core leads this time.

And regarding this point, Hou Hongliang had actually guessed it when Yue Jun called Reba over together; of course, he naturally had no objection.

"This role will run through the second and third parts, and Reba's temperament is indeed suitable." Speaking of this, Hou Hongliang looked at Reba and exhorted:

"The crew plans to start building the team at the end of August and start filming in November, so you can adjust your schedule in advance."

"Thank you, Producer Hou, I will make preparations in advance these two days." Reba heard this and immediately had a smile on her face.

After finishing talking about Reba's matter, Hou Hongliang started discussing the issue of "traffic" with Yue Jun.

Daylight Entertainment intends to adjust its future development direction, planning to walk on two legs, that is, on the basis of the traditional production model, to take into account the traffic road;

The so-called "traffic road" is the so-called enabling traffic stars, traffic artists, as well as producing IPs that young people like, trying fan group customization orientation...

Regarding this, Yue Jun listened very seriously. In fact, he held a dissenting opinion in his heart, but in the end, he chose not to speak.

In his view, or in the view of Lin Nan Pictures, that set of traffic fan circles is like opium; after the short-lived prosperity, only a mess of chicken feathers and empty works will remain;

And if a production company really falls into it, it will only sink deeper and deeper; in the end, it will likely abandon the basics to pursue the trivial, and the direction of the entire company will unconsciously lean toward traffic...

Because this is considered quick money, can a production company used to making quick money go back to the past? Can it turn back?

The answer is obvious, it is almost impossible to turn back; the quality of the film and television works it produces will definitely get worse and worse!

……

175 million on the 8th, 180 million on the 9th, 185 million on the 10th, 165 million on the 11th...

Since entering the working days of the week, the daily income of "Ne Zha" was completely as expected, and it really plummeted.

But the topic heat on the internet and the movie-watching enthusiasm of netizens were only higher, not lower. And it is also foreseeable that as long as it enters the weekend again, its daily box office will definitely be able to soar again.

"As of yesterday, Thursday, it has been released for a full week, with a total box office of 1.421 billion. It is a full 500 million higher than Director Ning's 'The Father', and 700 million higher than 'The White Storm 2'..."

Han Jia was chattering there with Liu Yifei, while Lin Nan didn't pay attention to them at all on the side;

He was replying to Yue Jun's message, he could submit the application for the extension key to the bureau, it's better early than late. Strive to get it approved and publicized in about a week.

"The invitation letter for the FIRST International Film Festival, Senior Brother Lin should have received it, right? Are you not going this year either?" Suddenly, Han Jia asked Lin Nan.

"The invitation letter is indeed there every year, but when have you seen me participate in this kind of small activity? Also, why are you asking this?" Lin Nan asked back without raising his head.

"Because I'm going, I originally thought if you also went, we could go together. But now it seems, I can only go alone."

"Inexplicable, what are you going there for?" Liu Yifei was also curious.

"Golden Bear Director Diao Yinan is the chairman of the jury, he sent the invitation, I'll give him some face. Of course, it's only someone of Senior Brother Lin's status who can be qualified to completely ignore it."

"Then you should strive to make progress, and then you will naturally be able to show off your power." Lin Nan couldn't help but tease, pretending to put on airs.

"Then I'm afraid I'll have to wait until my next life." Han Jia smiled helplessly, this was something in her dreams.

"Oh, Sister Teacher Gong Li's film has been shortlisted for Venice!" Suddenly, Liu Yifei, who was flipping through her phone, exclaimed.

"The nomination list is out?" Lin Nan and Han Jia said in unison.

"It was just reported, not even two minutes ago. There seems to be only one Chinese film in the main competition unit..." Miss Liu slid her phone screen and said uncertainly.

"It seems there really is only one, it's Director Lou Ye's 'Saturday Fiction'! No, there's another one, a Hong Kong animated film... Director Pema Tseden's 'Balloon' entered the Orizzonti unit..." Han Jia leaned over to Liu Yifei and looked at the news.

"Without a doubt, Sister Teacher Gong Li definitely cannot win the second Volpi Cup award. Because Lou Ye doesn't have the strength to shoot a film far better than 'The Story of Qiu Ju'; so as the heroine of 'Saturday Fiction', Sister Teacher Gong Li naturally cannot win the Venice Best Actress award for the second time.

However, Lou Ye can be excited and look forward to it for a while, after all, he is standing at the threshold of the three major European film festivals again.

It's also funny to say, he has been busy for so many years, shot so many films that are hard to evaluate, but in the end, he can only reach the nomination step, and can never touch the Best Director and Best Film awards... a complete clown."

Lin Nan couldn't help but say a few extra words. For this kind of director who accepts funding from outside, only shoots specific films, and conveys specific concepts, he really looks down on him.

……

Sure enough, starting from the afternoon of the 12th, Lou Ye and "Saturday Fiction" quickly became the focus of the Chinese film circle.

There were even media outlets riding the traffic hyping, saying that if "Saturday Fiction" could win a big award in Venice in early September, it would be a three-peat for Chinese films in Venice!

On Friday the 12th, "Ne Zha" reported 187 million.

On the 13th and 14th, as expected, the daily box office soared again to 313 million, 315 million...

At this point, the film reviews of this big animated film had already completely fermented across the entire internet. The audience and the calls were forming a huge wave, which was unstoppable.

"The first domestic animated film with a box office of over 2 billion?" In the bureau, the leader asked the secretary who had just walked into the office as if a bit uncertain.

"Yes, this is indeed the first pure domestic animated film to break 2 billion in box office. And the total box office of Shiyue Culture's first two animated films were also over 1 billion."

"Hmm, not bad. Have their extensions been submitted?"

"It was just sent up the day before yesterday, and it's going through the process."

"No need to go through the process, just approve it directly."

"Then what about the extensions for 'The Father' and 'The White Storm 2'? These two films also applied for them in the past few days."

"How is the box office growth trend of these two films at present? Is there any potential to enter the second month of box office?"

Facing this question from the leader, the secretary could only smile speechlessly, "It looks like there is no such potential, the daily box office is already falling rapidly."

"The summer slot has just begun... Since there is no such potential, then don't give so many extensions. Leave some opportunities for the films behind."

"Understood."

……

In the morning, Lin Nan took time to come to the Beijing Film Academy.

Tian Zhuangzhuang was about to enter the crew, so he came to see him off, and see if there was anything he needed help with, after all, the former hadn't directed a film for ten years.

And after arriving at the school, Lin Nan finally witnessed how ruthless Tian Zhuangzhuang was in this film casting, actually holding up against the "reasoning with emotion and moving with reason" of several school leaders.

For the large group of actors in "Bird's Chirp", he used people from the Central Academy of Drama, the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the Beijing Dance Academy, and amateurs, but he didn't use anyone from the Beijing Film Academy.

And the lead actor was decided to be Zhang Yu, who was not from the three major art academies, not from the art academies in the capital, focusing on perfectly bypassing the acting department of the Beijing Film Academy!

How to put it, this casting list for "Bird's Chirp" could be said to have stepped on the school's face nakedly, without leaving any face at all.

"You weren't this ruthless back then!" Old Jiang walked with Lin Nan with his arms around his shoulders, muttering in a low voice.

"There's no way, at least I can't bypass Yifei." Lin Dao couldn't help but laugh.

"I'll tell you the truth, I'm not optimistic about Director Tian's film. You haven't seen the script, many of the plots inside are too straightforward." After laughing, Old Jiang's face turned cold, a bit serious.

"This matter, neither of us can manage. Being able to make this kind of script, he naturally considered the final result."

Seeing that Lin Nan was seriously unwilling to discuss this matter more, Old Jiang didn't mention it:

"Oh right, are you coming to the opening ceremony in September? You haven't shown your face in this kind of occasion for several years.

With a film with 7 billion box office this year, the school really hopes you can attend the opening ceremony."

"Heh, I'd rather sleep at home."

"I'm heh-ing too, then what did you run to school for today? Don't tell me you just came to see Director Tian off, this kind of talk is fine to fool Xue Xiaolu and the others, but it can't fool me!" Old Jiang's eyes were sharp, glancing at Lin Dao cynically.

Fine, Lin Nan knew he couldn't hide it from Old Jiang, a smile appeared on his face, and he lowered his voice: "I have something to ask you, but remember to keep it secret for me first."

"Speak quickly if you have something to say!"

"Didn't you suggest I persuade Yifei a long time ago, let her get a master's degree.

Isn't she pregnant now, the time after delivery happens to be the enrollment season; plus after giving birth to the child, she will have to rest for a long time anyway, and getting a master's degree doesn't require staying at school..."

"Yifei agrees?" In an instant, Old Jiang got excited and interrupted Lin Nan.

"I haven't told her yet. I just came to scout the situation first, and then ask her meaning later.

It must be admitted that sometimes learning is also a vacation and relaxation, accompanying family and children while learning, this is even more of a happiness and enjoyment..." Lin Nan imagined that beauty.

"Do you need me to pay attention to the enrollment situation of various majors and tutors? Speak, what major is she interested in? You definitely won't consider the acting department, I know this." Old Jiang understood in seconds and asked immediately.

But before Lin Nan could answer, he saw him laughing and adding, teasing: "I suggest considering the directing department too, Tian and I can both bring her, and she will really become your junior sister in the future.

Oh my, don't you really have the idea of bringing her yourself, I was just joking before, this kind of thing is not allowed, you two are a couple..."

Facing Old Jiang's joke, Lin Nan naturally didn't take it seriously. He only dared to think about that kind of thing, if he really did that, he would die socially!

"Then add the directing department. Also help me inquire about the relevant majors of film production in the School of Management, and the Department of Literature, and..."

"How about letting her consider the photography department? Her shooting technique is famous for being bad across the entire internet..." Old Jiang interrupted Lin Nan again, unable to help but laugh.

"Fine, add a photography department, hahaha..."

Lin Nan couldn't help but give Old Jiang a thumbs up, this suggestion was simply excellent! However, if he really said this reason to Liu Yifei, would he be scolded?

"Lin Nan, I have something to say first. If Yifei is not interested in getting a master's degree, then I will have worked in vain. So, you owe me a favor anyway..."

Looking at Old Jiang who was threatening him with a "secret", Lin Nan didn't care at all, waved his hand and smiled:

"No problem. But remember to keep it secret first, even if it's Sister Xue, Director Cao and the others, you can't reveal that it was me inquiring."
