Chapter 181

As the opening ceremony approached, more and more filmmakers arrived from all over the world.

Several Chinese-language film crews coming to Cannes for promotion and to sell copyrights had all arrived.

When Lin Nan was accompanying Liu Yifei for street photography, he ran into Li Bingbing and the others.

"Lin Dao, is Yifei shooting a promotional film?"

Li Bingbing noticed the high-fashion gown and clutch Liu Yifei was wearing at a glance.

"Mm. And congratulations, you're now a producer and presenter."

"Lin Dao is too kind, I'm just dabbling, hehe..."

That's what she said, but the expression on her face wouldn't lie; she was very happy.

Mixing in this circle, sometimes you have to rely on fate, and you really do need a few sincere friends.

Just like Li Bingbing, who has a friend like Ren Quan.

Lin Nan heard later that the latter had left Huayi, had already set up a company, and started to fully involve himself in film and television investment and other industries, and brought Li Bingbing along; it can be said he is a man of loyalty!

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Li Bingbing took the initiative to say goodbye.

…………

"He is the director of that 'Stars'?" Jun Ji-hyun, who was accompanying her, asked in English.

Li Bingbing nodded.

"Yes, Lin Dao is a Golden Lion director and a major director of commercial films. I just don't know if he can win an award this time, or what award he might win."

After being busy for two days, Liu Yifei finally finished these trivial matters.

Yue Jun's side had already received many inquiries from film distributors; these were all based on Lin Nan's previous reputation in Berlin and Venice.

"Tell them, wait until the awards ceremony is over to talk about these things. In addition, invite them to watch 'Stars' after the opening ceremony."

"Okay, Lin Dao."

Lin Nan saw an interesting piece of news: several domestic media outlets caught Little Zhang Ziyi at the 'Life is Hot' booth for an interview.

Either asking her about being kicked out of 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan' by Deng Wendi and replaced by Li Bingbing as the lead;

Or asking her for her opinion on Fan Bingbing's 'My Way'...

The people the reporters mentioned have all come to the Cannes Film Festival this time!

Little Zhang Ziyi had a dark face the whole time, and it was Gu Changwei who helped her out of the situation.

The promotion for 'Wu Xia' didn't escape the siege of reporters either.

Either asking Chen Kexin if he has the confidence to defeat 'Painted Skin 2' when the film is released;

Or asking about Starring Zhen Zidan's next film plan, whether it will still be a bad film! The scene was very awkward for a while.

The opening ceremony finally arrived.

"Mom, why aren't you coming along?"

Liu Yifei looked at Liu Xiaoli and asked, very unwillingly.

"Be good, I'll join you guys for the closing ceremony; this time you two go alone..."

Liu Xiaoli said dotingly.

She had already thought it through; her daughter is already so grown up, and in the future, in public, she will gradually reduce the frequency of appearing by her daughter's side...

Seeing that Liu Xiaoli was truly unwilling, Liu Yifei didn't force it.

Early in the morning, the makeup artist started applying makeup for Liu Yifei, and the gown and jewelry set by the brand had also been delivered.

Not to mention the red carpets of domestic film festivals, just speaking of the three major European film festivals: there are only two types of people who can walk the red carpet.

Either you have a work in competition, which definitely requires walking the red carpet.

Or you are bringing a film for promotion or have a certain level of influence, and you must have received an invitation from the organizing committee.

Besides these two types, those who sneak onto the red carpet will be immediately driven away once discovered.

It seems that the few Chinese-language films that came this time all received red carpet invitations.

As for whether other "carpet stars" will appear, that is unknown.

A few hours later.

Liu Yifei, with her long hair draped over her shoulders, wearing a solid-colored off-the-shoulder tulle long dress and crystal high heels, stood prettily in front of Lin Nan.

The long dress was embroidered with flowers, beads, and sequins...

The lotus-leaf sleeves only reached the elbows, revealing half of her fair arms.

Paired with the diamond necklace on her neck, she appeared even more ethereal and refined!

"Does it look good?"

"Of course, at this moment, no one can compare to you."

Lin Nan's brain hadn't even turned, but the words were already out of his mouth.

"Hmph, smooth talker, I'll believe you this once."

Liu Yifei tilted her head slightly, her face filled with a sweet smile.

"Let's go."

Lin Nan extended a hand, and Liu Yifei took it.

…………

This is Lin Nan's first time attending the Cannes Film Festival, and also his first time walking the opening ceremony red carpet of the three major festivals.

When the black sedan drove slowly and stopped at the designated spot, media reporters from all over the world had already aimed their cameras at the car.

The car door opened, and a long leg stepped out; it was Lin Nan!

The domestic media were instantly excited; they were certain and sure that this was Lin Nan's first time walking the opening ceremony red carpet of the three major film festivals.

Lin Nan helped Liu Yifei, who was wearing the gown, out of the car, and the latter took his arm.

At this moment, the man and woman appeared as a perfect match, incredibly well-suited!

"Lin Dao, Yifei, look here..."

"Liu Yifei, this way!"

"Lin Dao..."

……

Lin Nan and Liu Yifei were taken to the waiting area, which was also shining with stars.

As soon as the two entered, they saw Zhou Xun waving, with Chen Kun and Xu Ke on the side.

"Lin Dao, Yifei." Chen Kun took the initiative to greet them.

Lin Nan nodded, counting as a response.

Liu also responded with a smile.

Although they had acted together in 'The Story of a Noble Family', Liu Yifei and this person really had no friendship...

"Yifei, this outfit of yours is quite good-looking."

Zhou Xun looked at Liu and complimented her.

"Hey hey, good-looking is good-looking, don't be handsy."

Lin Nan hurriedly stopped Zhou Xun's behavior; this guy was starting to act out of line again.

Liu Yifei lightly covered her lips, smiling as she dodged Zhou Xun's hand.

From time to time, people walked onto the red carpet, and shouts came from outside, mostly in English and French.

Gu Changwei led Little Zhang Ziyi onto the red carpet; Guo Fucheng didn't come.

……

Deng Wendi, Li Bingbing, and Jun Ji-hyun, three women hand in hand, walked out of the waiting area.

Chen Kexin, Starring Zhen Zidan, Tang Wei, Hui Yinghong...

……

Not until the red carpet was halfway over did a staff member come over to remind Lin Nan and Liu Yifei that it was their turn.

"Let's go."

Taking Liu's hand, Lin Nan walked onto the red carpet.

The host had already started the introduction.

"Now walking over are the creators of the main competition work, 'The Fault in Our Stars', Lin Dao Nan and actress Crystal.

The former holds one Golden Lion trophy and two Silver Bear trophies for Best Director, with a great reputation; the latter is a top international actress, having appeared in 'Inception' and starred in 'Lucy'..."

Lin Nan and Liu Yifei looked at each other; this host is quite good!

The media on both sides had already exploded; this pair of man and woman was truly a bit dazzling, and so young!

Unlike the closing ceremony, where the host might ask more questions, the opening ceremony just involves asking a few simple questions.

Lin Nan gave the microphone to Liu Yifei; he didn't need so many shots.

Originally speaking English well, but after the host welcomed the two in French, Liu Yifei also switched channels.

That fluent French surprised the host very much.

The shutters in the hands of the surrounding media reporters also pressed faster...

…………

The opening ceremony has one bad point: after the red carpet, it's not an awards ceremony, but a boring cocktail party, which in the country would be a literary performance!

Waking up the next day, Lin Nan was shocked by the news of yesterday's opening ceremony red carpet.

Not to mention him and Liu Yifei, whether it was the local media or the domestic side, it was completely one-sided praise.

But others were different.

Yu Dong was courting death, tongue-kissing Yuan Li on the red carpet; domestic entertainment gossip had already turned the sky upside down.

This wasn't the liveliest part; the most discussed was Fan Bingbing.

Fan Bingbing might have walked the red carpet early yesterday; Lin Nan didn't see it.

Only now did he know through the news that she wore a bright red tube-top crane-patterned dress, walked the opening ceremony red carpet; stunning is stunning, but...

Perhaps the crane has a good implication in the country, but this is France.

Over here, the crane only has two meanings: "stupid" and "promiscuous"!

Now, not only are the local Cannes media discussing it, but domestic public opinion is even scolding Fan Bingbing for being stupid and ignorant, losing face abroad, and on an international stage like Cannes at that!

In Lin Nan's view, whether others did it intentionally or unintentionally, it's really hard to say.

Last year it was the dragon robe, this year it's the crane outfit; the focus of public opinion was firmly gripped by Fan Bingbing herself.

When it comes to hype and topic degree, fighting alone, Little Zhang Ziyi, Li Bingbing, and Zhou Xun are completely no match!

……

'Stars' began its premiere in Cannes.

Like last time in Venice, 'Stars' also only screened five times in Cannes.

Each screening hall can seat one hundred people; after five screenings, it was already completely possible to let all interested film distributors watch 'Stars' once.

Lin Nan originally prepared to take Liu Yifei to find some good movies to watch, but heaven didn't fulfill his wishes.

An endorsement came looking for them, luxury goods!

Fortunately, when coming to Cannes, in order to dock with the brand, the Starwu team brought a few people along, otherwise they would have been caught off guard.

Just like this, Liu Yifei stayed at the hotel with her mother and the team to negotiate with the new brand.

Lin Nan went to the China Film Group team alone.

To be honest, he didn't think 'Painted Skin 2' could sell for any good price here.

The story of 'Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio' is still more acceptable and preferred by the Chinese cultural circle.

However, over here, even if it can't sell for a good price, as long as it can be sold, that is pure profit!

Han Sanping, Ye Ning, including Xi'an Film Studio and Ningxia Film Studio, all know this principle, so their mentality is quite good.

"Lin Dao."

Someone from Wanda greeted Lin Nan enthusiastically after seeing him.

"'Painted Skin 2' is screening?"

"Yes, it's screening.

Originally, it was very difficult for non-competing films to rent a screening hall, but China Film Group stepped in, and it was settled immediately!"

Lin Nan nodded; this is for sure.

China Film Group is a major film distributor, holding the monopoly on imported films; which film festival dares not give them face?

The Wanda person leaned in closer and said with a smile:

"I heard that Chen Kexin's 'Wu Xia' is a bit miserable, almost no one asks, or they don't give a price..."

Lin Nan knows that principle; directors are different from directors.

If you were to change it to a martial arts film by Zhang Yimou, Li Ang, and others, it would definitely sell for a good price in minutes.

By comparison, he, Chen Kexin, has absolutely no appeal in the international market!
