Chapter 567: Two Million Shares, Sell Them

What is a small year for a film festival?

A small year for a film festival means that the comprehensive strength of the films participating in the competition for the film festival awards is vastly different, and there is no possibility of mutual competition at all.

Basically, it is a few films that have unquestionable, absolutely overwhelming strength.

For example, this year's Golden Horse Awards is a small year for films recognized by the industry! All the films shortlisted in Taiwan are films with relatively poor quality and weak strength.

But sometimes, the more you feel that accidents will not happen, the more accidents will happen.

The Golden Horse Awards ceremony on the night of the 22nd was broadcast live by the film channel and several major portals.

Under the eyes of everyone, on the stage of Golden Horse, a "big play" that was ridiculous to the world was staged!

The order of awards this year is Best Director first, and Best Actor and Best Actress later.

And when presenting the Best Director award, the award presenters were Hou Xiaoxian and Teacher Gong Li.

In the warm-up session before announcing the winning list, Hou Xiaoxian specifically welcomed Teacher Gong Li's first arrival on behalf of Golden Horse.

But a sentence he inadvertently said to Teacher Gong Li made many people feel surprised, that is:

"I hope that next time you come to Golden Horse, you will be on stage to receive the award, not as a guest to present the award."

Everyone just thought this was Hou Xiaoxian's slip of the tongue, because the Best Actress award had clearly not been presented yet, so why say Teacher Gong Li could only present the award this time?

However, Teacher Gong Li also had a very demeanor and didn't say anything, but continued to present the award, because she was very confident.

The first accident was born like this:

Ann Hui defeated Lou Ye, Peter Chan, Wang Xiaoshuai, and Diao Yinan, who had just won the Jin Xiong at the beginning of the year, and won the Best Director award!

And when it came to Best Actor, it was the second accident:

Chen Jianbin defeated Lau Ching-wan, as well as Liao Fan, who won the Berlin Film Festival Best Actor with *Black Coal, Thin Ice*, and was crowned Golden Horse Best Actor.

But what made the whole audience gasp subconsciously was the presentation of the Best Actress award, which was truly the biggest cold shoulder of this Golden Horse Awards.

A Taiwanese actress who was not very well-known and didn't have many works took away the Golden Horse Best Actress award from Teacher Gong Li, the "Best Actress" who was what everyone expected!

You know, even the other Best Actress nominees like Zhao Wei and Tang Wei didn't think they could take the trophy from Teacher Gong Li's hands.

But this Arabian Nights story really happened. The Best Actress award was taken away by a "competitor" that several people didn't even look at.

When the camera flashed over Teacher Gong Li, Zhao Wei, and Tang Wei, they had no smiles, and Teacher Gong Li even had a cold face.

The scene was once in turmoil, and noisy sounds echoed in the ears; many guests looked at Teacher Gong Li intentionally or unintentionally!

From the moment the Best Actress award was announced, this Golden Horse Awards was a joke.

The final Best Picture, although it was also a big cold shoulder, everyone was no longer interested in caring.

Although *Blind Massage* lost to *Black Coal, Thin Ice* in Berlin, it stepped on the Jin Xiong award's *Black Coal, Thin Ice* under its feet in Golden Horse!

In one night, the Golden Horse Awards matter spread throughout the Chinese film circle.

How to describe the unreasonableness and disgusting degree of the results of this Golden Horse Awards?

It made Teacher Gong Li, who has always been generous, used to big winds and waves, and has served as the jury president and judge of the three major European film festivals and international A-class film festivals many times, speak directly:

"I especially thank the Golden Horse Awards for giving me this opportunity this time, letting me know what an unprofessional film festival is like, and an unfair film festival will make all art personnel look down on them. This is my first time coming to Golden Horse, and it is also the last time..."

This should be Teacher Gong Li's heaviest words, but it is enough to see her anger.

The entire film circle and the internet exploded, and there was a barrage of scolding against Golden Horse. Many filmmakers in the circle even publicly stated their support for Teacher Gong Li.

Sometimes, it is indeed disgusting people doing disgusting things.

The Taiwanese host of the awards ceremony accepted media interviews and directly mocked Teacher Gong Li as a piece of "frozen meat," bluntly saying that Teacher Gong Li should be happy to be nominated!

Up to this point, this Golden Horse Awards was completely pushed to the forefront of public opinion, becoming the target of public criticism in the industry and on the internet!

"If Teacher Gong Li would lose to a female actress who is almost a newcomer, then I want to know, what kind of heavenly talent is that actress?"

Jiang Wen's statement was very direct, very naked.

"Being able to make someone as cultivated as Teacher Gong Li unable to help but speak out to question, it is enough to see the childish degree of this Golden Horse Awards..." Gu Changwei also joined in.

"Sister Teacher Gong Li..."

"I don't think there is anything wrong with Zhao Wei losing to Teacher Gong Li, but losing to a... I can't figure it out."

Even Peter Chan couldn't help but interject, because the big hit *Dearest* also returned empty-handed!

"Although the award is like this, this time it is indeed a bit too much." Zhang Yimou, who is far away in Hollywood, rarely spoke out.

"She is the top female actress in the Chinese film circle; I knew it when *Farewell My Concubine* was made."

……

It is estimated that only Teacher Gong Li can make so many big directors in the film circle speak out in support at the same time.

This connection, countless actors envy, but can only envy, because Teacher Gong Li established that connection by strength.

"This, is too low. Using Sister Teacher Gong Li to lift the sedan chair, how dare they?!"

On the morning of the second day, when Lin Nan got up for breakfast, he heard Liu Yifei holding a tablet and complaining there.

He just remembered that last night was the Golden Horse Awards ceremony. He went to bed early yesterday and got up quite late today, forgetting about this matter.

"Xixi, what are you doing?"

Seeing Liu Yifei tapping on the tablet there, as if typing, Lin Nan picked up a bun on the dining table, took a bite, and asked.

"Following Director Jiang and the others, supporting Sister Teacher Gong Li."

Liu Yifei looked up and said seriously. She was moved to tears at the premiere of *Coming Home*.

Lin Nan didn't speak, but picked up his phone and flipped through it.

The mainland film circle indeed has many people supporting Teacher Gong Li and questioning Golden Horse. And the internet is even more chaotic, with scolding everywhere, and all of them are reasonable.

There are even those who step on the Golden Rooster, saying that even the Golden Rooster can't do this kind of thing of taking Teacher Gong Li to step on the feet of unknown actors.

Alright, Lin Nan feels that the Golden Rooster might not be able to do it; after all, that is hitting its own face.

Because Teacher Gong Li was the Best Actress of the Golden Rooster many years ago, and she was a two-time Golden Rooster Best Actress.

This year is a small year for Golden Horse films, and Taiwanese films are all poor; if they want to retain a trace of face, they can only "unscrupulously" leave a major award.

And stepping on Teacher Gong Li to ascend, undoubtedly is a step to the sky. But this kind of operation is also extremely stupid.

Because, they picked the wrong person!

No Taiwanese actress can swallow "Teacher Gong Li" without being choked to death!

Lin Nan didn't hesitate; he also appreciated Teacher Gong Li very much.

This is the top female actress in the Chinese film circle; no big director would not like Teacher Gong Li. He is also looking forward to the day when he can cooperate with Teacher Gong Li.

"I'll also post a Weibo. I heard that the jury president of this session, Chen Chong, and Teacher Gong Li had a gap earlier, I don't know if it's true or not?"

Lin Nan muttered, and then began to post:

"To be honest, the result of this Best Actress award can no longer be called 'cold shoulder'. As long as you are not a fool, you should be able to see that Sister Teacher Gong Li was taken to lift the sedan chair for the 'newcomer'.

The overwhelming publicity and hype of Golden Horse for several months have been revolving around *Coming Home* and Teacher Gong Li; is this the purpose? The higher you lift, the higher the person who steps on her to ascend will stand?

I understand Golden Horse's idea of wanting to save some face for its own people, but it really picked the wrong target. At least pick a target that can be justified; now it's a novice going out and directly killing the big boss! Is it reasonable? Is it possible?"

"I'll give you a like, hehe." Liu Yifei said playfully.

…………

Not long after arriving at the company at noon, Lin Nan heard that the internet was even more chaotic.

Chen Chong posted two clarification Weibo posts in an hour, bluntly saying that Golden Horse is fair, just, and open, but who would believe this kind of pale and powerless response?

And the media dug up the matter of the two not getting along again. Facing these, Chen Chong's response was: We don't get along, no heart knot.

But Gong Emperor's response was very face-slapping: "I don't know her." It is really a person of temperament, not beating around the bush!

"Good guy, this Ms. Chen has quite a few black materials!"

Just as Lin Nan was sighing at the media's "conscientiousness," the assistant knocked on the door.

"Lin Dao, your ticket has been booked, on the 15th of next month."

"Hmm, I know. Hey right, is there any news about Director Guo Fan's *Go Away Mr. Tumor*? It's been more than half a month."

"Not yet, Director Yue said it will be these few days."

"Alright then, nothing else."

Lin Nan is now sure that he will not go to support Jiang Wen's premiere; as for *The Crossing (Part 1)*, it is really unavoidable.

……

The daily box office of *Interstellar* is still continuing to go low, and it has fallen below 60 million, but at this time it has been released in the country for 12 days.

Comparing this data horizontally, it is still the highest daily box office.

Looking at *Once Upon a Time in China and America* with an investment of 130 million, it is already a bit cold.

It has only been released for three days, and the daily box office has turned sharply down to about 10 million, and it is about to fall to seven digits.

In the past, it was only said that Hong Kong's historical films were filmed like gang fights, why are even kung fu action films filmed like this now? A hero, made like a club boss...

……

"Agreed to come over to measure clothes for Xixi and me at the beginning of December... just throw it away in advance."

Lin Nan sat in the study, his fingers tapping on the table, muttering.

The phone in front of him had already dialed the number.

"Lin Dao?"

When the other side saw Lin Nan's caller ID, they were mentally prepared. The cooperation between the company and this big director should be coming to an end.

"What is the current stock price?"

Lin Nan asked very simply, and the other side was the same.

"From the opening this morning to now, it has risen by 5 cents, now it is 55.52, how much are you going to sell?"

The other side no longer fantasized and asked directly.

Lin Nan couldn't help but chuckle; he only sells and doesn't buy.

"Same quantity as last time, but this time the time can be longer. Before the 5th of next month, help me cash out two million shares. Right, how many Huayi stocks do I have left?"

The other side was obviously stunned, and they were cursing in their hearts.

"Lin Dao, there are still eight million shares in the account."

Hearing this number, Lin Nan had a bottom in his heart; marriage is definitely enough.

As for whether Huayi, whose market value has soared this year, will increase his shares again, that will have to wait until the end of January or early February.

"Hmm, nothing. Two million shares, sell them."
