Chapter 267: In Tune

With Cao Yang's current status, it is very easy to know the Golden Rooster Awards nomination list in advance.

Since his *Nine-Tailed Fox* was "forcibly" interpreted by the Venice Film Festival last year, and then won the Venice Film Festival Best Director and Best Technical Contribution Award, it became an experimental film in the country.

That is, using the fast-paced method of commercial films to edit art-house films.

This is recognized by the Venice Film Festival.

As the first so-called experimental film in the country, and having won two major awards at the Venice Film Festival, plus Cao Yang's connections and influence, it is difficult for the Golden Rooster Awards to ignore it.

Even the reason once used to fob off Xiao Gangpao—the box office was too high—couldn't be used, even if the box office of *Nine-Tailed Fox* was indeed ridiculously high.

This time, the Golden Rooster Awards selection committee, including the director committee, deputy director committee, and secretary-general, has a total of 23 people, and 7 are from the Beijing Film Academy.

Don't think that it hasn't reached one-third of the total number. If these 7 people make the same sound, it is still quite weighty.

Not to mention that among these people, there are quite a few committee members who can have connections with Cao Yang.

*Nine-Tailed Fox* received six nominations: Best Story Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Male Supporting Role, Best Female Supporting Role, and Best Cinematography.

It doesn't matter if it's not as good as the eight nominations for *Zhang Side*, but it actually had one less nomination than Lu Chuan's *Kekexili*, which could not be tolerated.

Especially *Kekexili* also received nominations for Best Story Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

After the nomination list was determined but not yet announced, Han Zong and Hou Yuan knew.

Hou Yuan called Cao Yang and told Cao Yang that the father of some people still had some connections. This time, it happened that there were acquaintances on the selection committee. Under the strong support of that person, they got those nominations.

However, let Cao Yang rest assured that everyone is a person of status. In the selection committee, generally, they will not tear their faces, but wanting to win an award is not something that can be done by one or two people's strong support.

Some people also rely on their seniority to point fingers at the award selection, but in the film circle, wanting to set up a project, wanting to pull investment, wanting to find professional behind-the-scenes personnel... the hands of these people cannot reach so long.

Currently, there is almost no film company that dares to offend both China Film Group and the Beijing Film Academy at the same time.

Han Zong is more direct, and playing tricks is quite smooth.

He felt that since some people didn't recognize the situation, let him recognize the situation.

Didn't you announce the nomination list on the 14th? It just so happened that Ludong Island insisted on holding an opening press conference, so our *Inception* could also be chosen on this day.

If it's like this and some people still insist, there is no need to care about face in the selection committee—because of you, no one pays attention to the Golden Rooster Awards, so everyone can focus fire.

Fine, with Hou Yuan and Han Zong coming forward, Cao Yang didn't care about this matter.

So when Xiao Gangpao called just now, Cao Yang pretended to be confused.

Some things can be done, but they cannot be put on the table.

Everyone is a person with face, and it hasn't reached the point of tearing their faces.

When the time comes, start filming.

The first shot is very simple, that is, the male lead wakes up on the beach. Filming and acting have no difficulty, just for a good omen.

With the help of the makeup artist, Depp was already lying on the beach. After the makeup artist confirmed it was correct again, he retreated.

"Attention all units, start."

Cao Yang shouted, the clapperboard hit the board in front of the lens, and filming officially started.

Under the impact of the waves, Cobb, played by Depp, opened his bloodshot eyes and woke up.

He looked up and forward, seeming to see his two children, his eyes full of guilt and pain, and he buried his head in the beach seawater again.

Cobb is awake from beginning to end, knowing that his wife is already dead. Because of guilt, he can often "create" children in deep dreams, and can also let his wife live in deeper dreams.

His biggest wish is to get rid of the suspicion of killing his wife and return to the country to see his children.

Here, when Cobb looked up, he saw his two children playing not far away.

However, this requires the actor to perform without objects. Depp has no children in front of him. It is necessary to film the shots of the two children playing, and then splice them together.

"Cut!"

Cao Yang said: "Very good, passed."

With Depp's current acting skills, filming such scenes is definitely not a problem. What's more, Cao Yang also added acting experience to him. His painful and guilty appearance doesn't look like acting at all.

Claire Danes nodded secretly not far away.

Depp is indeed powerful. His acting skills are not generally good. No wonder he can win the Oscar for Best Actor consecutively.

In the past, when this guy collaborated with Tim Burton, the two were called a "match made in heaven," but compared to the collaboration with Director Cao Yang, it was still not as good.

Sure enough, Director Cao Yang is the most in tune with Depp. Depp must be able to better understand Director Cao Yang's meaning and requirements. Look at that demeanor, that expression, this acting skill is simply throwing Little Li Zi eight streets away.

That fickle Little Li Zi has no acting skills; he is just a guy who eats by his face.

Claire Danes couldn't help but think of herself again.

I am also the most in tune with Director Cao Yang now. Hurry up and film my scenes, so that Director Cao Yang knows all this. I can't wait.

Depp climbed up from the water and spat out the sand in his mouth. When he buried his head just now, he was washed by the waves and poured a lot of sand and seawater.

Taking the mineral water handed over by the staff, he hurriedly rinsed his mouth and poured the whole bottle of water from his head to wash away the sand in his hair.

"Are you okay? How do you feel?"

Cao Yang asked.

"I'm fine, very good, it feels great."

Depp laughed carelessly and replied.

He didn't know why, but as long as he collaborated with Cao Yang, every filming was very comfortable, very relaxed, and acting was as simple as drinking water. He felt that every action he did was like an unconscious behavior, but it was incomparably precise.

This is the reason why he especially likes to collaborate with Cao Yang. He easily acted the play, earned the money, won the award, and raised his status.

Is there anything better than this in the world?

Here on Ludong Island, all the scenes by the sea were filmed, belonging to different stages of the movie.

"You go change clothes and put on makeup first."

Cao Yang ordered Depp. The next scene Depp is going to film is not the same plot point, so he needs to change clothes and put on makeup again.

And taking advantage of this time point, Cao Yang wants to film a shot with a little bit of difficulty, that is, the two children playing on the beach, which is the scene that the male lead just looked up and saw.

Filming children in the US is particularly troublesome. Not only do guardians and unions need to be present, but also tutors need to be invited, and it involves the length of filming and the restrictions on the filming period of a single day.

Cao Yang took a shortcut and filmed the shots about children in the country.

Filming children in the country is also a bit troublesome, but it is definitely much more convenient than in the US.

The two children found by the actor assistant director were the children of Europeans working in the country. The boy had blonde hair, and the slightly older girl had black hair.

After communicating with their guardians, their parents let the children go to the designated place to play, where there were plastic toys for digging sand.

What was filmed were the shots of them playing.
