Chapter 55: Bear Child
Over the next three days, under the guidance of Venerable Yun, Mengchen took a small tour of Taigu Shenshan.
It must be said, this was indeed a divine mountain worthy of its name.
On the surrounding stone cliffs, spiritual waterfalls hung down; underfoot, the fragrance of ancient herbs drifted everywhere; in the distance, rare birds and exotic beasts appeared.
However, what surprised him even more was that there were some thatched cottages nearby, all belonging to powerhouses of various races with extremely formidable auras. It was said they lived in seclusion, practicing here away from the world.
At one moment, while Venerable Yun was leading Mengchen, Tianhu Shaonü, and Heizi to stroll through the divine mountain, he suddenly raised his eyes, stopped, and looked toward the distant void.
He stared intently, a flash of purple light in his eyes, and then a clear, gentle voice sounded.
"He has arrived."
Hearing this, Mengchen, Heizi, and Tianhu Shaonü looked in the direction Venerable Yun was watching.
It was a human youth, coming from the distant sky, drawing closer and closer.
Mengchen watched closely; this youth's eyes were like stars, his whole body exuding a heroic spirit, full of youthful vitality, and a confident smile bloomed on his face.
He wore white robes, his heroic bearing striking as the fabric fluttered in the wind; his shoulder-length black hair was simply tied behind his head, and a supreme aura faintly circulated within his body! This was definitely an expert among his peers, powerful to an excessive degree, making one feel awe upon seeing him, unable to resist the urge to submit.
Although this aura was strong, Mengchen was not afraid; his eyes were already tightly locked onto the other party.
"This must be that Bear Child!" Mengchen said indifferently.
"Haha... correct! He is the Bear Child from the Spirit World, and like you, he is a young Supreme who has opened ten Cave Heavens," Venerable Yun laughed from the side.
"Hey! Old man!"
Bear Child arrived, waving his hand with a loud laugh, acting cavalier and lacking reverence.
Venerable Yun's smile grew cold and froze on his face. Why was this Bear Child so impolite, whether in the Spirit World or in reality? Could he not call him 'Senior'? "Young man, this is not the Spirit World; you are on my Primordial Divine Mountain, so you had better mind your words and actions," Venerable Yun said with a hint of majesty, his aura surging to the heavens, treasure light radiating brilliantly like a scorching sun, his presence terrifying to the extreme.
At this moment, Little Bear was pressured, and all ten Cave Heavens opened, humming and rumbling, equally brilliant.
"Did you call me here to explore the Kunpeng Nest at sea, or to take the opportunity to suppress me?" Little Bear said.
"Of course it is to explore the Kunpeng Yichao at sea."
Venerable Yun had intended to knock him down a peg so he wouldn't be so arrogant, but he hadn't expected that this Little Bear would be completely fearless.
Venerable Yun pondered slightly; he could understand why the bald youth on the side was so fearless, as he had an Ancient Sect from outside the domain supporting him.
But what did this Little Bear rely on? Could it be that he also had some major backing behind him?
At this time, Little Bear noticed the intense gaze cast by Mengchen, and for a moment, their eyes met, silently causing the atmosphere here to quietly solidify.
Neither of them released a shred of Divine Power; it was merely a gaze of scrutiny.
Now Mengchen knew he was the Little Bear he had been looking for, and the aura he released invisibly also made him deeply feel that this was definitely a super-strong opponent.
But for now, Mengchen did not want to spar with him immediately; he wanted to observe and understand him, to see what was so unique about this Little Bear.
So, after a deep gaze, the two smiled slightly and nodded to show respect.
Afterwards, Little Bear broke his eye contact with Mengchen, looked at Venerable Yun, and called out: "Old man, hurry up and take me to see the divine mountain; time is precious."
"Fine!"
Venerable Yun replied helplessly; after all, he was the one asking something of Little Bear.
After all, exploring the Kunpeng Yichao required someone who had opened ten Cave Heavens to enter.
In an instant, Venerable Yun's body radiated treasure light, and a brilliant path spread out on the ground, extending forward; ancient trees, rocks, and streams along the way could not obstruct it, as if it were a divine bridge pressed against the earth.
The divine bridge appeared, and Little Bear, in front of Venerable Yun, Mengchen, Heizi, and the Heavenly Fox Maiden, could not wait any longer and dashed out, shouting happily with a face full of joy.
"Wow, ingredients, here I come." Hearing this, Mengchen, Venerable Yun, Heizi, and Tianhu Shaonü were all shocked and bewildered, following quickly, not knowing what he was about to do.
Just as he arrived outside the mountain gate, Little Bear bared his fangs and brandished his claws, his eyes wide.
Where his gaze landed, there was a pair of Eight-Treasure Chickens leisurely pecking at spiritual herbs.
In an instant, he leaped off the brilliant path and chased after them.
"Hey, where are you going?" Venerable Yun called out.
"Catching chickens," Little Bear replied. He had noticed this pair of Eight-Treasure Chickens a long time ago.
These were one of the Eight Great Treasures of the ancient times, extremely rare; he hadn't expected to run into them the moment he stepped into Taigu Shenshan.
Venerable Yun had black lines all over his forehead; these were spiritual birds raised by other Venerables. If he let him eat them, that would be a disaster.
"Stop right there!" Venerable Yun reached out and shouted.
However, Little Bear ignored him entirely, flashing out in an instant and capturing both Eight-Treasure Chickens alive.
Before Venerable Yun could stop him, chicken feathers were already flying, and that Little Bear had already set up a large pot.
"Sigh... what a menace!" Venerable Yun let out a heavy sigh, already pondering how to explain this to the owner of the Eight-Treasure Chickens.
In no time at all, the fragrance from the large pot was mouth-watering, and in the end, Little Bear was holding a chicken in each hand, devouring them as if he hadn't eaten in eight lifetimes.
Mengchen, Heizi, and Tianhu Shaonü all watched with saliva flooding their mouths, their throats constantly swallowing.
Venerable Yun turned away with a look of disgust.
Once the two chickens were finished, Little Bear set off again; he plucked feathers from every goose that passed, finding things to stuff into his mouth along the way, never stopping for a moment.
Every move Little Bear made along the way was seen by Mengchen; at this moment, he seemed to understand why he was called Little Bear.
He really was no ordinary 'bear'! After an hour, Little Bear was catching fish by a river.
Just then, a youth sped over and shouted in reprimand.
"Little thief, stop! Those are spiritual fish raised by my grandfather; how dare you lay a finger on them."
Mengchen had seen this person before; he was the green-haired youth he had punched away three days ago.
"Stop making noise; if you scare away my fish, be careful or I'll put you in the pot," Little Bear said softly, focused on catching fish.
"Little thief, you are courting death!" Seeing that Venerable Yun did not speak, the green-haired youth shouted sternly.
Following this, his whole body erupted with green light, and with a wave of his palm, a terrifying rain of Rune light spread out.
"Splash..."
The rain of Rune light spread to the river surface; Little Bear's body was shrouded in brilliant treasure light and remained completely unaffected, but the previously calm river surface suddenly erupted with sparks filling the sky.
"The fish that was almost in my hands..." Little Bear clutched his head and wailed, his expression one of extreme regret.
Little Bear changed his expression quickly; the next instant, his face turned cold, he stared straight at the green-haired youth, and reached out to rebuke him, "You compensate me for my fish!"
"Compensate you, my foot!..." Upon hearing this, the green-haired youth was so angry that he started spouting profanities.
This was originally raised by his grandfather to assist him in his cultivation, yet now it was being claimed by someone else as his own; how could he endure this?
Enraged, the green-haired youth clenched his fists, charged forward, and attacked Little Bear.
Mengchen stayed to the side, watching quietly, wondering how Little Bear would handle this.
